Damn Mod-Loving, I just logged on to update the old thread about MGSO 3.0
.
This Installer Tutorial might be handy for anyone struggling, but I expect that this release will be the most user-friendly yet:

So, could it be recommended for someone who's been successfully using version 2.0, highest quality, no problems at all?
Some folks seem to have been encountering problems with 3.0?

Re: Morrowind Overhaul 3.0 Released!
Just a quick question, can I use MGSO 3.0 with an existing save game or do I need a new save file?
I'm on my way to Windhelm to join up with the Stormcloaks, Ulfric has the right of it!

No need for a new save file, after you've finished the install process everything should work just fine with an existing save. It is advised to make a back-up before you try anything though, as with all modding, but I don't anticipate any issues, and did not experience any myself.

Re: Morrowind Overhaul 3.0 Released!
Thanks man, just a few other questions you might be able to help me with. I have it installed now and it does look pretty good.
I chose the high option as my PC was pretty close to the spec's for very high but I didn't want to push it just to be on the safe side, so I have two questions.
First there is a FPS counter in the top corner, how do I remove that?
Second I noticed in some areas it goes below 25 FPS which should technically be stalling/lagging but doesn't seem to be. Even though the average I am getting is 35-50 outdoors and 60+ indoors I would rather change the settings down if I can since I am not sure which area's are the most demanding on my machine and I don't want to go somewhere later and find I get like 2 FPS. I would love to know (if you know) what areas are the most demanding so I can test it out and/or if I can reconfigure the settings without having to re-install a.) the mod b.) the game?

I'm not sure about the second point, but I'll look into it if I get a chance at some stage. i can answer the first question though, there's an option in the Morrowind Graphics Extender Set-Up Menu (I believe it's MGE, it's been a while), which allows you to toggle it on or off (If I recall it's a checkbox). Sorry about the delayed reply, hope that's not to vague (if it is, I'll have a poke around, I know it exists though).

Re: Morrowind Overhaul 3.0 Released!
Greetings
Sorry if this is a bad place to ask this, but I thought it may be appropriate
I decided to get Morrowind once again. Have not played it in at least 8 years. I used to have it on the Xbox, and currently have a 360. Could not find it for a good price on Xbox, so I ordered the PC game of the year version for $20.
I'm interested in some mods and possibly this new overhaul download, but unfortunately I'm a computer dummy. I have a 4 or 5 year old HP laptop with Windows Vista (64 bit) with 4GB RAM. (I remember 64 bit was new when I got this computer).
It appears I've got this Mobile Intel(R) 4 series chipset adapter for a "graphics card". Something tells me this will not work so well with this overhaul download, but then again what do I know.
Anyway, can anyone tell me if there is some kind of reasonably priced or free upgrade I can get? Or should I just get a new PC
I've never played a game on PC, so excuse my ignorance. Figured someone may be able to help me out or point me in the right direction. Thanks!
edit: did some research and I guess replacing a graphics card is not really a good option for a laptop. So I guess my quesition is, can I run this mod package with a decent four year old laptop

Re: Morrowind Overhaul 3.0 Released!
Hi Anderband
MGSO can be very demanding on your PC at the higher end of its capabilities, although there are a lot of options which will allow you to tone it back and subsequently reduce the strain it might put on your system. The Installer does have a number of settings which will attempt to optimise the mod pack for older or newer machines, so although a newer system would certainly be better, there is a chance it would work on some of the lower settings on a more aged machine. What sort of specs might you be looking at?

Re: Morrowind Overhaul 3.0 Released!
Hi OblivionDuruza
my processor is: Intel(R)Core(TM) 2 Duo CPU T6400 @ 2.00GHz , 4GB RAM
Thats really all I know. I wondered about the graphics card, and learned they are tricky to replace in a laptop, as they are somewhat integrated into the tight space of the unit
I finally got the GOTY version on PC in the mail this week, and started getting reaquainted with the game. Its been a looooong time. The hardest part is getting used to using a mouse and keyboard. I played it on Xbox when it came out.
Its running great. Im a computer idiot, so hopefully I have the time and ambition to try some mods in the future, possibly this overhaul download. But I may just tinker with the vanilla version for now. I've never played any of the expansions yet. I need to remember to save more often, its a hard game

Re: Morrowind Overhaul 3.0 Released!
Honestly, I think the Morrowind Graphics Overhaul 3.0 is even tougher on the computer than Skyrim. Although the meshes and textures might not be QUITE up to snuff with Skyrim's quality (on ultra-high), MGSO's water, lighting, and bloom effects can be very tough on your system. I can play Skyrim on Ultra-high with a quadruple-quality blood textures mod, but my computer lagged balefully when I attempted to put MGSO on maximum settings.

Re: Morrowind Overhaul 3.0 Released!
Yeah I have most of the settings reigned back a fair and even then in some areas specifically it can really eat up processing power, particularly in the more lush regions. Aesthetically, I have to say that I feel MGSO looks better than vanilla Skyrim, by virtue of Morrowind's already stellar art direction. Now, if only someone would do some magic with the animations ...
