Perhaps as more Holds are conquered, the number of Legates should increase? Won't there be three at the start? There will be promotions in this RP, I think.
I also love the idea of using unconventional tactics not seen in the game, such as temporary alliances with the Forsworn, or the Mages, or somehow finding ways to use a Dwarven Centurion or two in a crucial battle. Imagine one of those bashing down the gate at a fort or Windhelm as the Imperial soldiers rush in around it. We might not have Numidium back - yet - but we can find resources.

So what? Do we sit on our thumbs and give zero input?
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.
That's outside of linear time, and the Empire needed it, because it was all a means to an end. It won't be in any future ES games most likely and probably shouldn't be here.

I can't imagine giving Alinor the spanking they so soundly deserve without the Numidium or a plot device of similar abilities.
That's not for this RP of course, but something to consider for the future.

The Bear of Markarth was written before there even was a fully formed rebellion. Thus, the likelihood of it being a fabrication seems slim. If we reject it as being false, we might as well dismiss the Guides to the Empire as well as dozens upon dozens of publications that form our understanding of the TES universe. Seeing as we will be operating in a fictional world in RP, we might as well be doubtingly ground beneath our feet.
In any case, I won't be painting the Legion as spotless knights of goodness. This is a dirty, dirty war. There will be slaughter, pillage, injustice, torture committed by Imperials, just as in any other army. Decades ago, a wide-spread massacre occurred in Markarth. The reactions of the citizens of the Reqch will reflect this in RP. Have your character choose to deny it of you wish, but genocide denial is one subject that I simply cannot abide by.
Ahem. Cleared.
By the way, Bread, if a General's surrender fills you with more disgust than sacking a neutral city...
Now, my basic concept:
The Roleplay will take place in an earlier stage of the Civil War, just before Tullius arrives with a troop surge. Things will be more or less the way they are in Skyrim, with a minor difference: Dengeir is still ruler of Falkreath.
Our Legionaires will be members of a veteran cohort stationed in Solitide. To reiterate, the Empire holds only Hjaalmarch, Haafingar and the Reach at the moment. Ultric holds Winterhold, the Pale, Falkreath, the Rift, and Eastmarch. In Cyrodiil, a motion has passed at the Palace to send fresh troops under the command of General Tullius to the North. However, with the Pale Pass closed by Dengeir, they cannot gain access.
Behold, Mission One of Dragonfire's Ember. Or whatever cheesy name I get to replace this placeholder.
This will be a rather ragtag cohort, so you can basically choose between being a Colovian Regular, a more cultured Nibenéan, a local Nord volunteer, a man from one of High Rock's kingdoms, an Orc trying to win glory in battle, or perhaps a Dunmer from
Solstheim. An Alik'r mercenary could also work. I was also thinking of accepting a maximum of one player as a Thalmor attaché. Most other types or characters can be squeezed in with few problems.

But it was written after the WGC was signed which increases the chance of it being a fabrication tenfold. The Empire must do everything their Thalmor masters wish if they want to have a shot at liberating themselves. If that means scapegoating someone, fabricating documents, covering something up or sending people to jail then so be it.
In the aftermath of the Great War, instead of creating a book fabricating an incedent between Nords and a faction the rest of the world actually cares about, it is perpetrated against a group that is universally persecuted.
Sounds like a rather shoddy propaganda tool.
Well. If I DM, the Markarth Massacre will have occurred. No middle ground.

I see absolutely no idea why the Legion would restrict people based on either race or gender. It never has to my knowledge. There are plenty of Imperial-friendly Elves of all kinds.
Also, I have dibs on the Reach, if that's alright. I'd like to be stationed there as the Legate, because I have some ideas concerning that area that involve the Orcs, Calcemo and the Hagravens.
I also feel there should be some sort of system involving time. Like if I sent a letter to Markarth from the Reach camp, it would take two days to arrive etc. Same with light infantry forces on foot or horseback, or longer for entire army units.

if we're going to begin choosing places to start off at I'd like to be stationed in Hjaalmarch as tribune

2. Who is your favourite (in-game) Legionarre or Legion supporter?
Jarl Balgruuf
3. How do you think the Empire is better for Skyrim?
Trade with cyrodiil makes skyrim more prosperous.
4. Who do you think should be the High King/Queen? ( Out of Imperial supporters, of course!)
Elisif.

7. What is your favourite Legion related quote?

Regrettable, but it got peace and people can still worship talos, as long as they keep it quiet
9. Have you ever completed the Stormcloak side of the civil war?
No.
10: Is there anything you would change for the betterment of the Empire?
A stronger military, and a better understanding, among the officers, of the culture of the provinces they are deployed in.

Ahm... After reconsideration, and some friendly advice from another RPer, I have decided that I am not capable of DMing a Legion RP without over-extending myself. I'm so sorry for the inconvenience to everyone...
I'd do it, but I would have to take a more neutral stance in my sig. I also hate making character sheets, but other than that I'm here from about 4:00-5:30 and then 7:00-8:00, pm EST times varying, on weekdays. And on the weekends I'll come anytime I think I might be needed.

Really, anyone can be a good DM. Seems like everyone is to busy, though. I say say continue recommending people. I could do it, but I would need a little help. I still say Pilaf is the best person for the job.
Pilaf does not want to DM, and we should not force him to do it. I honestly do not care, but character sheet are sort of tricky to make. It depends on the roleplay and how it's going to go, because anything can happen in a roleplay.
Justice knight wrote:Oh and listen to Br3ad he speaks wisdom.
I know Pilaf doesn't want to, just wish he did. That is the thing though, because you never know what will happen in a Role Play, so the character sheet has to be good.
I could unofficially contribute ideas via IM if anyone wanted to hear my opinion about anything. I doubt anyone would but that's as much mental effort and time I could contribute outside of RPing one character.
