No.

You need to do something really cool, and beat up the local greaser guy.

It's in the rule book.

Obviously Bethesda did not get that book.

Back to the whole super power thing, I believe most people don't have even the same combat prows as we do. And I don't think it is a simple AI thing either, shouts are kind of superfluous.

I'm not sure where that train of thought came from.

Was anyone talking about NPCs having similar abilities?

I thought we were discussing whether or not heroes from future TES games should have some sort of mystical, forgotten super power relating to a reincarnated hero or something.

That's my point, we don't really need uber-powers. The npcs can hardly handle us, before the MQ, Dragon Shouts made a god of war incarnate, even more powerful.

I'm not a huge fan of Dragon shouts and usually forget to use them. Hopefully, Bethesda don't include them in TESVI. That being said, some of the Dragon shout effects (Fus Ro Dah especially as I need to be able to throw people of cliffs and other high areas) could be added to magic as a spell.

Dragon Shouts should be in TES VI. But only on a few NPC characters. If you fight high level Draugr, maybe one or two Nord NPC's who remark that they spent years studying with the Greybeards and learned to shout. And they'd know only "Fus." And maybe one follower or bad guy who was like Ulfric and could use a few words of power.

Draugr are really a Nordic thing, so if it isn't near Skyrim, they shouldn't be there. Shouts should be replaced, and not included at all.

I can't think of any lore justification, even a slight one, that Draugr would appear in any location outside of Skyrim or Solsthiem.

Yeah.

Honestly, the hero of all these games had a special destiny thing going on. Even in Arena you were protected by a powerful spirit, and Destiny.

Dragon shouts are just so badass, well some of them are, I just don't know how they are going to top them without copying from them directly. Maybe we'll be able to blow people up, now that's a thought.

Maybe we could bring back more magical effects and better lesser powers? Like "Nordic Frost" From oblivion, maybe you would be able to project your power into a large gale of ice.

You keep pushing that, but it won't happen. Magical effects do not replace super powers that no one else can do. Shouting like we do is a Dragon thing, those things you said are universal if you play your cards right.

Like I said, I can't imagine a single reason we can't have similar powers on a cooldown that aren't Dragon Shouts but do similar things. There's a lore justification for it in nearly every province, especially if the story presents us with your person being born with the soul of a certain race, despite his/her body. For instance if it's an Argonian power, if you're an Orc who is a reincarnated Argonian hero he could still use it.

I just had an idea ..

maybe they could make a certain powers that each Race has (like Greater and lesser powers) and you are able to advance them and make yourself a master of your chosen races abilities :P

then again, this would make Race a much more important choice .. so it may be a really bad idea :P

If it makes race more important it just makes it an even better idea. The lines between races have become too blurred in myopinions. While I like making a Khajiit necromancer and a Nord theif, pretty much the only noticeable difference between races is appearance. Skill boosts make hardly any difference and the only powers that are usefull are Beserk, Hist Skin and Highborn.

And what do so many of us keep complaining?

"Man. Oblivion and Skyrim are awesome, but I wish they were just a little more like Morrowind."

And here I am, proposing a way to do just that.

And here I thought UESP was about equality. If everything was to race specific guilds would be a bad idea.

The only thing i would add more of in pushing races apart is race specific dialogue. This is something i always love in any game. I would also like more racial attributes.

What I meant was like, Bosmer are said, in lore, to be the best archers in all Tamriel. This is reflected in a +10 in archery. But at the end of the day there is nothing stopping a Breton becoming just as good as a Bosmer. It is done right with Altmer though, no matter what they will always have am extra 50 magicka.

Skill should not be a racial thing. Basketball can be played by anyone, and being a certain race shouldn't make one the best at it, because anyone can be just as good with practice.

That is not true. If someone is 8ft tall and someone else is 5ft tall the shorter person has to be way better to even compete with the tall person.

Like someone else suggested earlier, Bosmer having an Archery cap of 125 or something might do the trick.

Here's the thing, though.

Bosmer having a higher archery skill actually makes little sense based on physical proportions. It takes long, powerful arms to make one good at most forms of archery, especially with a long bow. Bosmer are not known for that type of physical build. If anything, Nords, Orcs and Redguards would make better archers based on their natural warrior builds because it takes a powerful warrior to be an agile bowman. It's essentially a combat skill based on muscle memory and fitness.

You could argue their slight frames makes them better at sneaking and remaining hidden, and that's certainly one aspect of bow hunting, but the actual use of the bow is another thing entirely. Not to mention the construction of wooden bows is religiously forbidden in Valenwood, so their own bows would have to be constructed from imported lumber or animal bones, which would seemingly make for an even heavier bow that's harder to use.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

Well bone is a funny substance and depending on what type of bone would decrease or increase the weight. The bones of a bird could be even lighter than wood because their bones have a honey comb shape. Also many bows in TES are made of laminated metals such as silver and ebony.
