Dark Brotherhood (Club/Faction)

Post by Imp »

UESP Dark Brotherhood Faction Club
I would like to thank GoatLiver as serving as my guide to my thread structure, regardless of how he created it.
Image
I found there to be a lot of faction clubs, and I thought: Why not make one for a dying faction, maybe we as UESP could nurse it back to good health. I thought about doing this right when the Werewolf Den was created.

The sanctuary set up in in High Rock was raided and destroyed
The sanctuary set up in Elsweyr was shut down and moved to Cheydinhal.
The sanctuary set up in Cyrodiil was purified
The sanctuary set up in Skyrim is either thriving into a new era of the Skyrim chapther, or wiped out.

I for one hope it is coming up into a new chapter. Though, it will not be easy, at all. In retrospect, most of the sanctuaries were founded off of one member of a recently destroyed sanctuary. I think it would be interesting for us to find locations, areas, and customs to keep the Brotherhood prosperous. Well, enough of my thoughts, this thread is not just about that, it is on anything to do with the Dark Brotherhood. Like in most faction clubs:

Hail Sithis!
Spoiler:
1. What made you want to become an assassin for Sithis?
My parents were members of the Bruma Sactuary when it was destroyed. I joined because it was the only family that I had left.
2. Who is your favourite Skyrim sanctuary assassin?
Hm, Either Babette or Nazir. I didnt really like any of them in the Cheydinhal.
3. What do you make of Astrid?
She tried her best to keep the family going, but she made too many mistakes. The last one was giving me up to the Penitus Oculatus.
4. What are your feeelings toward Cicero?
Mild dislike. Im not going to kill him because of that though.
5. Do you hate the Penitus Oculatus?
No, they were doing their Job, just as I was doing mine. I admit, I did kill Commander Maro
6. Is there anything special you do when playing a Dark Brotherhood character (roleplaying-wise)?
I leave a single Nightshade flower on the body of my target. I also only ever wear the armor when I am on a job.
7. What is your favourite Dark Brotherhood related quote?
"The mining business is very cut-throat, and those hours? They're murder!" Nazir
8. What do you think would make a stronger Broherhood?
More recruits, going back to the old ways and traditions.
9. Have you ever destroyed the Dark Brotherhood?
No.
10. What did you do with the money you earned from the last main assssination? Did you lie to Nazzir?
I used it to rebuild the Dawnstar Sanctuary. No.

Not to criticize but I think the ranking system could be improved to better reflect lore and the game. Just a few ideas

Open the role of speaker to four positions to recreate the Black Hand
Lowest rank should be Initiate
I`d perhaps eliminate a few of the ranks and see if you could perhaps get a bit variation in the titles
Maybe try replacing some titles with commonly known euphemisms for assassins for example wet boys, hitters perhaps even neutralizers or problem solvers

You two are in, and I changed a few things about ranks, not really much

And Believe, I decided just to flat out ignore what ever you post on this thread, mainly because of your disclaimer:

I also agree with Believe, there are a ridiculous amount of Faction threads popping up, these threads then fill up with pages of spammy one liners. But I Love The Dark Brotherhood! I would appreciate a high rank because I will try to be active on this thread, if you deem me not active enough you can strip me of said rank. Lastly I would like to suggest that this be moved to Elder Scrolls General as the Dark Brotherhood appears in more than just Skyrim

1. What made you want to become an assassin for Sithis?
I enjoy killing.
2. Who is your favourite Skyrim sanctuary assassin?
Lucian Lachance's specter, sure he may not be active but he appears in the game.
3. What do you make of Astrid?
She had a nice dagger
4. What are your feeelings toward Cicero?
He was amusing for about the first fifteen seconds
5. Do you hate the Penitus Oculatus?.
No, thy were only doing there job and to be honest I wasn't very fond of any of the Skyrim assassins.
6. Is there anything special you do when playing a Dark Brotherhood character (roleplaying-wise)?
I use a different weapon for every kill and then dispose of the weapon in the sea after I'm done with it. Instead of wearing the Shrouded Armour Gloves, when killing my target I'll use a pair of ordinary gloves and dispose of them in the bugged bloody chest in the house in Windhelm. I usually leave a Deathbell picked form the bushes surrounding the Abandoned Shack on the targets body. On some roleplays I will take a peace of clothing and/or weapon from the target and enchant it, using it as a trophy. I will only kill my target, never any others. I once did a Pacafist RP of the Dark Brotherhood, which was quite amusing.
7. What is your favourite Dark Brotherhood related quote?
"Dear Brother, I do not spread rumors. I create them."
8. What do you think would make a stronger Broherhood?
The return of the Black Hand
9. Have you ever destroyed the Dark Brotherhood?
No.
10. What did you do with the money you earned from the last main assssination? Did you lie to Nazzir?
I used it to upgrade the Sanctuary. No

Alright, I think I would like to announce my first question:

Where would the next santuary be built?
Cyrodiil
Black Marsh
Elsweyr
Hammerfell
High Rock
Morrowind
Skyrim
Summerset Isle
Valenwood

At the moment, I cannot make a answer to my own question, though I will make one soon.

Cyrodiil
Black Marsh
Elsweyr
Hammerfell
High Rock
Morrowind
Skyrim
Summerset Isle
Valenwood

Cyrodiil was already wiped out, and the Black Hand isn't really fond of staying there. So, I would have to eliminate that.

Cyrodiil
Black Marsh
Elsweyr
Hammerfell
High Rock
Morrowind
Skyrim
Summerset Isle
Valenwood

Black Marsh would be really great. Though, we need to keep in mind, the shadowscales are gone. And why is that? There has to be some influence in there against them.

Cyrodiil
Black Marsh
Elsweyr
Hammerfell
High Rock
Morrowind
Skyrim
Summerset Isle
Valenwood

Elsweyr would be fun too, sneaking about in sand wraps, blending in with the sand, but the Black Hand doesn't deem that area safe.

Cyrodiil
Black Marsh
Elsweyr
Hammerfell
High Rock
Morrowind
Skyrim
Summerset Isle
Valenwood

Hammerfell... now that... that would be interesting. The deserts of Elsweyr, the cities of Cyrodiil, and well. Maybe.

Cyrodiil
Black Marsh
Elsweyr

Hammerfell
High Rock
Morrowind
Skyrim
Summerset Isle
Valenwood

High Rock... weren't they raided?

Cyrodiil
Black Marsh
Elsweyr

Hammerfell
High Rock
Morrowind
Skyrim
Summerset Isle
Valenwood

Morrowind... hmmm... sanctuary in red mountain in Vvardenfell, anyone?

Cyrodiil
Black Marsh
Elsweyr

Hammerfell
High Rock
Morrowind
Skyrim
Summerset Isle
Valenwood

Skyrim... do I need to say anything? Really?

Cyrodiil
Black Marsh
Elsweyr

Hammerfell
High Rock
Morrowind
Skyrim
Summerset Isle
Valenwood

Summerset Isle... ewww... has anyone ever seen an altmer assassin? Well, maybe we could import real assassins to High Rock, and the Altmers wouldn't really be on the look out for the brotherhood, so again... Maybe.

Cyrodiil
Black Marsh
Elsweyr

Hammerfell
High Rock
Morrowind
Skyrim
Summerset Isle
Valenwood

Valenwood, kind of the same deal, but with a lot more trees... That would be interesting.

Cyrodiil
Black Marsh
Elsweyr

Hammerfell
High Rock
Morrowind
Skyrim
Summerset Isle
Valenwood

Alright, so by my standards, I narrowed it down to:

Hammerfell
Morrowind
Valenwood

Does anyone disagree?

Why? Explain please.

My thoughts were that people (or whatever raided the sanctuary) would still be on the look out for the Brotherhood in High Rock.

In my opinion the Dark Brotherhood should re-establish there presence in Cyrodiil first, it is the most central location in Cyrodiil and it would be easier to spread their influence from there.
Black Marsh is also a possibility, although there is only one Shadowscale left at the beginning of Skyrim, there is only a handful of assassin left anyway, so one being left is really a blessing from the Night Mother.
Summerset Isles is an Island, It would be much easier to have to travel to Summerset every once in a while to deal with contracts than to have to cross the sea every time you had a contract outside of Summerset.

It would be good to be in a dangerous place, and wouldn't the raids be a problem in High Rock?

I actually am thinking that Cyrodiil wouldn't be to bad, but the Black Hand just wiped them out...

I am going to cross out Summerset, but there has to be something bad going on in Black Marsh, prohibiting Shadowscales.

I don't think there's anything prohibiting Shadowscales in Black Marsh. My opinion on the matter is that Astrid's little group of mercenary's (I refuse to refer to them as a chapter of the Dark Brotherhood.) began distancing themselves from the old practices of the Dark Brotherhood, including the training recruitment of Shadowscales, with the Brotherhood all but wiped out who would then train these young Shadowscales. Veezara may have joined at his own accord before Astrid had even come to power inside her little grouping.

Answer to the Survey
Spoiler:
1. What made you want to become an assassin for Sithis?
I worship Sithis
2. Who is your favourite Skyrim sanctuary assassin?
Lucian, even though he's a ghost, then Nazir, Babette and Cicero
3. What do you make of Astrid?
Astrid was not a good leader. She did not respect the Night Mother or Sithis and she informed a contract, the Emperor of Tamriel, Titus Mede II that the Dovakin was on their way.
4. What are your feeelings toward Cicero?
He was stressed to much by carrying the burden of keeping the Dark Brotherhood going. If you use Lucian during the Quest where you can kill him Lucian says Sithis wants you to spare him. He then goes back to being a happy murderer for Sithis.
5. Do you hate the Penitus Oculatus?
Of course
6. Is there anything special you do when playing a Dark Brotherhood character (roleplaying-wise)?
Join before doing anything else
7. What is your favourite Dark Brotherhood related quote?
Probably one of Lucian's but here are so many good ones in Skyrim.
8. What do you think would make a stronger Brotherhood?
Now just time and growth now that there is a Listener and the Night Mother speaks again.
9. Have you ever destroyed the Dark Brotherhood?
No, but I would if I played a character who fit that was aligned that way.
10. What did you do with the money you earned from the last main assssination? Did you lie to Nazzir?
Built the new Sanctuary, no.

I said it in another thread, but other than the one in Skyrim all the other recently closed Sanctuaries should be reopened first the Corinthe Sanctuary in Elsweyr, then the Wayrest Sanctuary in High Rock, reestablish the Shadowscales of Black Marsh along with a Sanctuary there and then return the Night Mother to the Cheydinhal Sanctuary in Cyrodiil.

Thanks.

I think the point made from Cicero's journal that there not enough members to keep training Shadowscales was the problem.
It would be one of the easiest ways to get new recruits by reopening it. As soon as they had the man or mer power to do so.
