But had you known where the bear was going to be, you could've avoided it. Your ignorance of the bear's location led to your fear.
Yes, if you wish to trace the cause and effect back that far, it was, but on a smaller scope it wasn't the ignorance of the bear being there that instilled the fear, it was the fact that there's a bear that could claw your stomach open that did that.

An obstacle to be avoided, certainly. We should all be apprehensive of the strength of a bear, of course. That's not quite comparable that to the fear that's instilled by suddenly crossing one's path.

Hmm...interesting thread. Bears scare the living daylights out of me. The bad part is they are all over the damn place up here. I live in "Bear Valley"....we take our walks in the neighborhood with bear mace and bells. Last summer, I was sitting on the porch talking on the phone and a blackie with 2 cubs waltzed right in front of me in the yard. It was really scary. We've had them take our trash (even though its in sealed bear cans)...one even broke into our garage and stole goodies. The beasts. I hate them. I've lived in Alaska all my life and walking through the woods still terrifies me because they will slip past while you are walking and not give a care you are there. UGH.

sounds similar to brown recluse spiders wandering around my house and making webs without a care in the world how big they were and where they put these webs

I don't mind spiders...but aren't those poisonous? We don't really have them up here. We have bears, moose which I've had some annoying close encounters with, and harsh elements that will take you out when you're camping. :/

Well if you be careful you'll be fine around Brown Recluses, and there aren't too many, it's just the influx of insects. Though bears sound much more frightening than a spider

Bears dont scare me, i'm not saying if I saw one right there I would not think "oh *****"

But if I saw one I'd think it be an awsome sight and hurry on my way being sure not to spook them.

Pretty comfortable with death. It's a shortsighted fear because inevitably spending eternity trapped under rubble would be no better.

And the more I live, the more I realize how everything is sort of uncanny, so ne fears of that.

Being dropped into a razor-walled silo filled with larvae, fish, sewage and mammalian heads would spook me..

Once had a dream I was stillborn, and wasn't scared for my null life but rather the emotions from my parents.

Sometimes, our ecological condition on this planet, and other cosmological notions of our human condition are scary. Other people's lifelong compulsions are scary (consumer culture, domesticating animals, prejudices, conflicts of morals with happiness and which should be more central to life...)...

I am absolutely terrified of spiders. Which sucks, because i can't go a week without seeing one in my apartment.

One time when i was in Washington State a bear got into our trash and we had to clean it up. I was the only one who didn't see the bear that did it.

I'm also scared of being in front of a crowd, whether it's 10 people or the entire school.

A girl brought a jar-full of spiders into science class for an experiment today. I wanted absolutely nothing to do with it.

What was the experiment for?
We where studying the behavior of potato bugs among predators. Nothing got killed, don't worry.
