Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
Odd.
I'm glad that the Stormcloaks don't have any nobles that take manor political positions through inheritance rather than merit who proceed to raise bumper crop taxes and start religious wars and raise racist militias to perpetrate genocide and, upon seizing control of half of a country, only use their power to protect members of a preferred ethnic group, disenfranchise citizens based on race, ignore and encourage racism, and then have the gall to accuse a king fully devoted to the full time job that running a peaceful nation is of being a traitor to the aforementioned ethnic group for not sitting on a mountain meditating for years, before using the powers thus acquired to murder him. True Stormcloak nobles are far better than those awful Imperial ones.

It was an ironic observation based on Derp's assertion that Imperial nobles are corrupt.

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
I'll be honest with you, neither side is perfect and I hate different characters in the both the empire and stormcloak rebellion but generally the snobbish, stuck up imperial nobles [&@%!] me off. Even on my legion characters they insult me and call me some kind of irritating racial insult anywayEltee wrote:Odd.

For one, Maven Black-Briar and Siddgeir are both benevolent and prosperous rulers don't you think. Makes me question my support of the Stormcloaks.
Secondly, What evidence is there that Ulfric is going to commit an act of Genocide? Or are you one of those "Ulfric is a horrible Nazi" people?
What you may need to recognise is that Skyrim is a feudal/semi-feudal society. War, racism and violence are common and expected traits of such a system. In medieval Europe, the Jews (and during the Crusades, Muslims) were persecuted and even slaughtered (something the Dunmer and Argonians seem to be rather safe from) on a regular basis.
Even the Empire exhibits these traits. You seem rather ignorant about Nordic culture by expecting Skyrim to be a peaceful under the Empire. The Nords are a warlike people. They almost want a war Not necessarily a civil war, but A war. Not to mentions Tullius' quote "Damn you Nords and your sense of damned honor". Now that's a very multicultural attitude isn't it.
Now, I feel the need to ask you all a question:
Why do you continue to fight for an Empire that has been collapsing for over 200 years, and even now, is experiencing so much violence and gang warfare in its homeland? And forevermore, do you really think that, after the Great War, the loss of Hammerfell, and all of this civil violence, do you really think the Empire will ever become anything other than a puppet state to the Thalmor?

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
The Empire didn't choose Siddgeir. Much like how the Republican Party can't omit KKK votes for their candidates, the Empire can't depose a jarl who supports them because he's an ***hole. In regards to Maven Black-Briar: she's made jarl of the Rift. The Rift. It's a wretched hive of scum and villainy. She is the logical choice for such a place. She wields the most power and influence; appointing her creates the least waves, maintains stability in the region, and it's known that she can get the job done. She's the most non-interventionist choice, and thus technically the fairest one to the people of the Rift. Regardless, the appointment procedure for a new jarl in a situation like this is not entirely clear. The Empire undoubtedly had influence, but it wasn't necessarily a situation where they could point and say "Her. She's the one we want. The ideal choice!"
By genocide, she was referring to the Markarth Incident. Read the Bear of Markarth.
So because Ulfric's not openly slaughtering Dunmer and Argonians in Windhelm, he's a decent leader? That's your argument?
The Empire and Imperials are often considered snobbish, but they're also credited as being the most tolerant in the end.
Look at the history of every Empire (edit-in the game, I mean). They all go through long declines, then pick themselves up. It happens. So yes, the Empire will inevitably buck the White-Gold Concordat. Of course, Ulfric's rebellion has undoubtedly forestalled any plans to do so...

I don't think that Hitler is a very good equivalent for Ulfric. Like I said earlier, Karadžić is a better analogy, and Srebrenica is a better analogy for Markarth.

Of course an Imperial would tell me to read a book that holds so much Imperial bias. And even so, did I not mention the nature of feudalism?Minor Edits wrote:The Empire didn't choose Siddgeir. And yes, the Empiure did choose Siddgeir and Maven. They deposed Dengeir (a much more benevolent ruler) because he supported the Stormcloaks.
200 years of decline. Really, you're going to bounch back from that. By the looks of Cyrodiil (from Cicero's journal), I don't think so. If Skyrim becomes independent, it at least wouldn't have to hold the burdens of a failing Empire.

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
Your right the Imperial should have left a Stormcloak supporting Jarl in power, makes perfect sense. And do you have any other candidates for who should be in power for Riften, The Black Briars basically controlled it when it was under Stormcloak rule so why not let them officially control it? Speaking of Jarls that got replaced the Stormcloak Jarls are all fairly bad aswell. I Wont go into names but you know who Im talking about.
Every Empire goes through bad patches and good patches. Some power hungry Jarl in the north that distracts the Imperial from more important matters doesnt exactly help matters.
EDIT: Love my phones autocorrect of every second word.

You are not listening to my point about the Imperial situation, I'll quote myself from a while back when I explained the whole situation in depth:
You can find that quote here: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/ ... ge__st__80In the 200 years since Oblivion, the Empire has all but collapsed (http://www.uesp.net/...Lore:Fourth_Era). Red Mountain, the loss of Summerset Isle, Valenwood, Black Marsh, Elsweyr, and Hammerfell, the emergence of Umbriel and the Great War have taken its toll on the Empire. It has come to the point were Cicero describes the situation as:
"The Imperial Province is ravaged by strife. Nowhere there is safe, at present" http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Cicero
"Wayrest is lost. The city fell to corsairs..."
"The situation in Bravil grows more dire. The city has erupted in violence, due to a war of control being waged by Cyrodiil's two largest skooma traffickers. The Listener, Alisanne Dupre, has been forced to employ sellswords to protect her own residence."
"After Garnag and Andronica left for Bravil, we stopped receiving communications from the city."
"Cheydinhal has erupted into violence and chaos, like so many other cities before it."
http://www.uesp.net/...ero%27s_Journal
This terminology does not paint the image of an Empire with a few issues, but on the whole, a powerful force. This actively paints the image in the readers mind that Cyrodiil has erupted into violence and civil unrest. Is this reliable? Yes, Cicero, as I have stated, can remember things clearly, and if he can't, his journal can. He has no affiliation other than to the Night Mother, so he is not biased about the situation. And, lastly, the Dark Brotherhood, a force that has single handedly crumbled Empires, has been destroyed with very little Imperial input (only the attack on Falkreath). He has been forced into taking drastic action: taking the Night Mother away from Cyrodiil (where she has laid for thousands of years).
Also note how in the last quote, he says 'like so many other cities before it.' By saying that, he is strongly implying that the violence is not an isolated issue. e is almost stating that all of Cyrodiil is in chaos.

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
The Empire is just after coming out of a huge war, there is going to be difficulty, sure the difficulty is going on longer than most people would have expected but the Empire will pull through. Take Europe after WWI it was in a fairly bad way, all the countries suffered even the victorious ones, but Europe pulled through.
Cicero's journals are slightly dated going into Skyrim things could if changed in the ten years since he last mentioned Cyrodiil.

After having failed contact with Legate Clodius for two days, elite Battlemages of the 14th Legion attempt a mysticism ritual to locate his whereabouts in the Reach.
The candles are lit and the incantations spoken aloud, as an image comes into focus.
The legate sits in a comfortable looking tent before a very large Hagraven, completely covered in feathers and barely recognizable as a human, even by their standards.
She leans in close. "What a pretty morsel you are, man creature. What type of man are you? You're not a native. Let me smell your bloodline. Ahh...See-Roh-Deel. I can smell the elven blood in you, boy. You don't let on about that terribly much with your compatriots, considering the political climate of the Arena these days. HA! Oh but you wanted a bargain with me? I am the Arch Matriarch of the Cult of Lyg, boy. What do you have to offer me? Besides that pretty, pretty body. Are you versed in the Dibellan arts, per chance?"
Clodius stammered "Erm..your grace...I hardly see what the Dibellan arts has to do with this diplomatic mission?"
The Hagraven leaned in with a lustful glaze in her eyes. "It has everything to do with your mission, boy..now give me that sweet throbbing hunk of
The crystal ball explodes from a sudden release of power and the Battlemages are knocked on their butts. Further attempts to scry Clodius' condition or whereabouts remain unsuccessful at the current time.

Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.
