Re: level for hearthfire?
According to UESP, you need to complete a radiant quest first. Just kill a bandit leader for the steward, and you should be able to buy after that.

Have you completed either the Stormcloak Questline or the DB quest Kill Helvard. It is mentioned on the page for Lakeview Manor that killing Helvard can screw with buying the plot of land. And maybe for whatever reason during the Stormcloak quests when the stewards swapped the code simply didn't load properly.

If under the add-ons menu, it lists Hearthfire, then it should already be installed.hoodedrobin wrote:nope, not yet. i just hit level 9 last night. now question... on the main menu under addons, i can see dawnguard and hearthfire on the menu, do i have to install dlc after i download it. its on my hard drive and i can see it on the menu... im just wondering if my game just isnt recognizing it.

Re: level for hearthfire?
With the Pale, the homestead from the Jarl of Dawnstar, you need to be at least level 22 or something like that because you need to do the Varemina quest and kill a giant before you can buy land from Skald the Elder. Also Dawnguard messes with the Jarls and Thane quests so it's best to uninstall Dawnguard before going with Hearthfire.hoodedrobin wrote:what level do you have to be to able to buy property? im a level 9 and im thane of falkreath and i talked to the steward but no dialogue for buying property... what gives? the only thing i can think is that my level isnt high enough. any help would be appreciated.
