If you burn down the tavern, there will surely be a mutiny among the men. Keep it tight and keep it tidy... Sir.

Carry on.
Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
I bet I can take out at least two of those Stormcloaks on the battlements with my bow, but it'll probably be melee combat from that point on.

Just hold tight; don't pay attention to the noises, and come if I call, or if you hear sudden silence.

You could do a PvP RP if we used dice roles to decide whether are attacks are a success or not. The only problem I could see with it is everyone is going to go through a lot of characters. Its a war after all.

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
1. Why did you choose to side with the Empire?
Because it was categorically, unequivocally the right choice. I know some Stormcloaks and moral relativists out there love to say "Bethesda makes games where there's no right or wrong, blah blah blah (feces flies out their mouths)." But that simply isn't true in this case (or in any other, but I digress). If it was their intent to do so, they failed miserably and completely.
Ulfric was a self-serving, racist, murdering ***hole. I won't go through the whole explanation; I think UESP does a pretty good job right now of explaining Ulfric's history in an unbiased way, and anyone with even half a brain should be able to tell he's a weak greedy prick who earned nothing in his life and deserves no praise. The rebellion wasn't necessary, and killing Torygg wasn't necessary, but it was the only way Ulfric could make himself top dog.
The "Empire is a Thalmor puppet" argument is terrible, as well. Unity is not just an ideal in this case, it is a necessity. Tamriel has enemies known and unknown out there, and it can't afford to be divided when they inevitably attack. That's fact. The Empire is a weapon, like a javelin being relayed from generation to generation, and the only thing that can stand against another Akaviri invasion or something even worse. That doesn't mean I support the Talos ban; of course I don't. This is basic freedom of speech/religion stuff. If Skyrim had given the Emperor an ultimatum ("Allow Talos worship or we walk"), then Great War II would've started, and I think that inevitably results in the defeat and re-acquisition of the Dominion. Once the Stormcloaks are vanquished, they can still do that.
2. Who is your favourite (in-game) Legionarre or Legion supporter?
I mainly like the random Imperial soldiers who point out that they're there to protect Skyrim from Thalmor oppression, not enforce it. Stormcloaks love to point out that the Stormcloaks and their supporters are earnest people seeking freedom, but so are the ones they would choose to slaughter. And you can't support a cause, no matter how just, when the man at the top is no good.
Of the named characters, probably Elisif or Rikke. Stormcloaks would like to think of Elisif as a puppet, but that's extremely unfair. Tullius handles the war, yes. He's a general, that's what generals should be doing. Deferring to his superior judgment on matters of war is not an abdication of leadership, it's wise leadership.
3. How do you think the Empire is better for Skyrim?
Explained above.
4. Who do you think should be the High King? ( Out of Imperial supporters, of course!)
That's the first tough question. I admire Balgruuf the Greater's dedication to his people, but you can't win when you don't back a horse. Elisif is the top candidate, and I imagine a Moot stuffed with Imperial-supporting Jarls would vote for her.
5. Mede Empire vs. Septim Empire?
Septim, of course. **** Mede; I can support the Empire without supporting the Medes. Although I ended up liking Titus II more than I thought I would.
6. Is there anything special you do when playing a Empire character (roleplaying-wise)?
I delay doing the civil war for a while while my character meets the relevant people and gathers knowledge, then fight it all at once. Afterwards, I don't give Ulfric the dignity of killing him personally. That's exactly the problem with a person like him; in the end (literally), he's concerned about how good the ****ing song will be!
7. What is your favourite Legion related quote?
Explained in #2.
8: What are your thoughts on the Talos ban?
Explained in #1.
9. Have you ever completed the Stormcloak side of the civil war?
No, I'm not a jack***.
10: Is there anything you would change for the betterment of the Empire?
Explained above. I killed Titus Mede II, but I also killed the traitor who commissioned the job.
11. What is your specialization? ( This will allow me to label your group)
... Winning? My character usually starts a fight with stealth and archery. That's usually enough to end a fight, but if not, I switch to magic and/or a one-handed blade and shield. There really is no specialization. Just winning in the most safe and logical way available.
Edit- I should probably point out that I just quit smoking and am on doctor-prescribed steroids. It's not my intent to offend, I just don't care about offending.

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
I agree with what Cardy is saying BTW.
Now as Duruza said these factions are meant to be places of discussion so Im going to begin with a topic that was originally mentioned in the survey. Who do you think would make the Best High King and why.
My opinion as stated in the survey and I do believe Balgruuf would make the Best High King. Many people criticise Balgruuf and say how he was indecisive at the begining of the civil war which almost lost him his city. In my opinion Balgruuf did this with his peoples best interests at heart, no one wants a waring nation and Balgruuf seems to genuinely care about his people. At the begining of the game, Balgruuf will send men to Riverun to defend against dragon attacks. Although Falkreath may see this as him siding with the Stormcloaks he still does it as he has his peoples best interests at heart. Another reason Balgruuf may have been indecisive because of the Battle-Born/Gray-Mane feud. Balgruuf may have thought that choosing a side would lead to open opposition from either of these families and may have led to voilance.
As much as I hate to say it I also believe that Uilfric Stormcloaks may also make a decentish High King. He is undoubtedly. great leader to the Nords as well and being a great speaker and warrior. It is his bigotry and inability to care for the other races that disqualified him from the top job. He does not seem to realise that these others are equal to any Nord and until he does I just can't see him making a good High King.
I hope this discussion Wont just be open to members of the Imperial faction and others will take time to post in it aswell. Lastly please Wont reply with answers like, "Uilfric cos hes on the Stormcloaks" it really rodent help the discussion.
Last thing I would like to say is what would peoples opinions be on Skyrim going under the direct rule of the Empire and not having a High King at all?

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
I doubt it. I thought he was a great speaker when he had a gag in his mouth. As for his skills as a warrior, let's check his record: He was captured in the Great War, and released after he spilled his guts. He killed a boy half his age, and to do that, he used the power of the thu'um, putting him at an extreme and unfair advantage. By his own admission, he simply knocked the kid to the ground with a shout and stabbed him. Then he got captured. Again. Being captured a lot does not make one a great warrior. And apparently, even though the Nordic version of the apocalypse was breaking out and there was chaos everywhere, he may not have been able to escape had it not been for some agents of the Thalmor. And when I fought him, he went down like a sack of potatoes.Velvet LeChance wrote:As much as I hate to say it I also believe that Uilfric Stormcloaks may also make a decentish High King. As for direct rule of Skyrim by the Empire: absolutely unacceptable. The main purpose of the Empire is to provide a safety net for the other provinces; when the **** hits the fans, the Legion and the Navy will come running. In order to make sure they can help when they need to, of course, the Empire does need to ensure subsidiary governments remain friendly, that trade agreements are in place, and implement some other ancillary policies. However, they are not there to take direct authority over the citizenry. That would be tyranny, plain and simple. Every province deserves some real measure of self-rule; Skyrim's no exception.

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
In my opinion Uilfric would make a great war time leader, He's charismatic, has a way with words that no other Jarl possesses and has a way of putting a great spin on everything. The fact that he can influence half a province to go to war with him shows just how good with words he must actually be. If it ever came to a war with the Thalmor I have no doubt he could rally the whole of Skyrim. It's his policies outside of war that makes me dislike him. A kid like Torygg never should have been in charge of Skyrim if he wasn't strong enough to fight off Uilfric.
About the Empire taking temporary charge of Skyrim, I believe that Skyrim needs a strong leader and other than Balgruuf there's not too many great candidates, would it really be so bad if the Empire was to take charge until the Thalmor threat was gone.

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
Balgruuf put a great spin on things. I'd describe Ulfric as conniving, not charismatic. And regardless, charisma is not as important as having a brain in your head. Ulfric's life is just a series of half-assed endeavors and bad decisions. The fact that he can influence half a province to go to war with him shows how desperate the people of Skyrim are to worship freely, and that Nordic education methods are in serious need of reform. If it ever came to a war with the Thalmor, I have no doubt virtually any Nordic leader could rally the whole of Skyrim. His policies outside the war are just the icing on the cake. Torygg was Ulfric's democratically elected liege, and personal combat skills are not relevant to a war leader.Velvet LeChance wrote:In my opinion Uilfric would make a great war time leader, He's charismatic, has a way with words that no other Jarl possesses and has a way of putting a great spin on everything. Yes, it would be terrible if the Empire took charge. In my view, the Empire would lose the moral high ground, and I would be a Stormcloak supporter. It's worth noting that this is entirely hypothetical; absolutely no one in the game suggests the Empire would do such a thing. Anti-Imperials may dismiss Imperial vassals as puppets, but the "puppets" are still necessary. It's the principle of subsidiarity, which I happen to believe in whole-heartedly: decisions should be made by the lowest authority capable of effectively addressing a matter. It's a bedrock truth of life, right up there with "I think, therefore I am." The Empire is too far removed from the daily life and needs of the citizenry of the outlying provinces, and thus their direct rule would breed injustice.

Luckily, as you said, they've never tended to rule directly from Cyrodill anyway.
There are always regional governors, kings and generals usually either home grown or related through blood or marriage who understand the local culture and politics much better than some Colovian noble or something.
If people like Balgruuf or Torygg were puppets, at least they were Nords, from well respected families and men of good character. Not Heartlanders marching in telling people what to do. It's a pretty well integrated system, actually. Many of the Generals are Cyrodills, but they fit in well enough and are capable men and women. None of the loyalist Nords really say anything much about Tullius' ethnicity for instance, and value him for his experience and leadership.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

Honestly as long as you dont have fur, scales or pointy ears they never seem to care about ethnicity or at the very least it isnt that large of an issue. This makes me wonder about the legion's ranks, like what % are dunmer, nords or imperials etc.... Too bad there is no census

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
I want to defect, I normally play things like this off of opportunity and even though the thalmor breathe down the neck of the empire, metaphorically anyway. I would like to return leave the stormcloaks and join the legion. I have always been a supporter of the empire in Oblivion and Morrowind. My two best characters in skyrim have been legionnaires and though I like the Mede dynasty a little less I like the legion and how it's structured and organized. So if I may join at the rank of Tribune I would be most appreciative
