Vampires - To Kill or Not?
Should we kill vampires on sight or give them a chance?
Yes, they feed on people. But, what about the vampire who was turned against his will and only feeds on bandits? Are there any noble vampires to speak of or are they all monstrous killers? I can't imagine Harkon's group represents the best of the creatures.
What do you all think? Should we kill them all, take some time and decide or just let them be?

I kill vampires on sight, they suck! The only reason to have vampires in TES is so that you can hunt them down. Vampires and the undead have been over used in popular culture and Bethesda should have ignored them.

I was thinking the same thing about mortals: "Should we kill them all or keep then alive in containers to use as food?"
I still haven't decided.

Re: Vanpires - To Kill or Not?
My character was a Vampire for a while before curing it , and he refused to feed on the Blood of the innocent ..
we cant judge all Vampires as bad .. i mean look at Janus Hassildor .
so no , i dont kill vampires on sight , i see what they do first , wether they are peaceful or Nuts

No they shouldnt have , Vampires are a great thing , its simply that there are now so many crap Films and Programs that make them look stupid ... Bethesda have done it rightStormborn wrote:I kill vampires on sight, they suck! The only reason to have vampires in TES is so that you can hunt them down. Re: Vanpires - To Kill or Not?
Of course not. Not all vampies are bad, ex: the court mage of solitude, janus hassildor, serana, MAYBE valerica( dont know much about her though),.
I dont see anyone saying we should kill all werewolves on sight and they eat people too. They cant even control when they will go all munchy-munchy, while we vampires can.

I tried to kill Serana on sight once, it didn't work. I guess you can't kill every single vampire.

Re: Vanpires - To Kill or Not?
Really , current films ,Books , and Television programmes have made vampires look bad ... thats why whenever i wanted a cool vampire role-play , i played as a vampire in Oblivion
Bethesda does Vampires very well in my opinion
i love the myths and legends about vampires , unfortunatley , modern things have reduced them to shiny skinned teens who want to sleep with everything that moves
I hope bethesda continues to feature Vampires in more ES games , cause vampires are great , they are such a cool grey moral area

Re: Vanpires - To Kill or Not?
I like Vampires. They should be given a chance.
Now, if they would stop trying to kill me on sight, I'd stop killing them. But I will admit their Vampire Dust comes in useful for alchemy.

Re: Vanpires - To Kill or Not?
Sorry, I disagree. In future Bethesda should be banned from featuring vampires until they do it right. There is no real negative aspect of being a vampire in Skyrim, which makes it pointless to play as one. At least in Oblivion you couldn't go outside during the day. What really bugs me though is that there is no need to feed in fact feeding makes you less powerful. How can that be right? A vampires defining purpose as a predator should be feeding.philfredobob wrote:Really , current films ,Books , and Television programmes have made vampires look bad ... thats why whenever i wanted a cool vampire role-play , i played as a vampire in Oblivion

Generally, if I see a hostile vampire, I kill it. If I see a non hostile one, like the court mage in Solitude, well, she gets to live until such time as she wrongs me in some way.

Every time I play Skyrim at a friends house, I somehow get Sanguinare Vampiris, but I can not kill the person whom keeps giving it to me, I want to kill everyone, psychotic I know, but the essential tags won't let me.

Re: Vanpires - To Kill or Not?
I haven't gave vampirism any thought until this thread, then I automatically thought "kill them all".
But then I stopped myself and started my "me in their shoes" line of thought, and came to a conclusion that no, I wouldn't be hostile to vampires...in fact, I might actually become one.
I mean sure, sun hurting you and feeding off blood sucks, but you basically have near immortality as an vampire. That's something I would love to have.
So no, not all vampires are bad people. I'm not a bad person and I'll feed off the murderers and rapists in the jails and generally [censored]-y people I meet. Thanks OP for making this thread or else I would of never thought of this conclusion. BTW, you spelled vanpire wrong.

There is an infinite number of alternate universes, which means all books are non-fiction.

I agree with you on Skyrim Vampires , i was talking about Oblivion vampires .. i apologise i should have made myself more clearStormborn wrote:Sorry, I disagree. i loved the idea that in order for vampires to walk in the sunlight , they had to feed on the mortals , or , if you so choose , you can be a creature of the night
Skyrim vampires weaknesses werent that bad originally , then with Dawnguard , they were made extremely overpowered
i would hate it if they made feeding so mandatory , if i had a certain amount of time to feed , or feeding made me more powerful , i would just hate that
i like the vampires in oblivion , and i think they should go back Sun damage , as it was a lot of fun to get around as a vampire with the sun to watch out for .... ''kept me on my toes'' as i believe americans might say , though im unsure
i hope they continue to feature vampires in future ES games , but in a style more akin to Oblivions vampires

Re: Vampires - To Kill or Not?
You can never kill them all... well... you might be able to, but couldn't Molag Bal just make more? It makes more sense to try ally with some vampires, as they may be useful in hunting more dangerous or feral vampires. I know vampires are hard to trust; for example how easily swayed Serena is to join you regardless of your side, or when you consider that regardless of how good you were while playing as a vampire character you'd inevitably end up sucking peoples blood.
I used to be an adventurer like you... then I got a real job... then I got made redundant... then I became an adventurer again... but now I just kill cats.

Re: Vampires - To Kill or Not?
But does sucking thier blood really harm them ?
i mean we didnt make them vampires , and i noticed no in-game change to their well-being
so if we were to drink ... once a week for example ..
would it really be that bad ?

Re: Vampires - To Kill or Not?
Vampires are awesome!
Depending on my play through I don't kill them on sight.
The Vampire world just needs to be expanded.
So that if you're a Vampire you can join Vampire dens, Sun damage needs to come back, maybe if you feed daily, 3+ days you can walk out in it.
I don't mind that feeding weakens you. Feeding needs more options; to kill, to turn or to to just feed. Maybe another to feed on livestock for vampires that that don't want to feed on men/mer but you get a new weakness for doing so. Oblivion did a good job, and all that's missing from Skyrim is Sun damage.
