Yeah seems it will be fun. I will include a catergory that shows what playstyle you belong to, such as Battlemage or Warrior. Though since I am making you a Legate, I would appreciate a little help maintaining the thread. You don't have to, but it would be appreciated.

The RP prospect seems very promising. Should we include medics or some kind of battle priests? This would be similar to the Stormcloak Battlemaidens.

How about Spellswords too, the Morrowind class descriptions stated that they assisted the Imperial troops in skirmishes and battles.

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
Yeah, let's not complicate things too much. I'd put healers, spellswords, illusionists, enchanters etc. in the Battlemage Corp regardless of whether they're specifically classic battlemage builds. Magical support in general can fall under that category.
I'd consider someone who uses primarily combat abilities and a little magic on the side to be a warrior, though, and not a battlemage. The line can be a bit blurred and I'd leave it up to the individual to decide what he identifies with, but a guy who fights in heavy armor with a sword and only heals himself occasionally is a warrior who can cast a few spells IMO. A lightly armored guy who happens to carry a sword but spends most of his time healing others would be a battle-priest and in the Battlemage bracket.

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
What i find interesting about the Imperials is their sense of organization, like they serve more as a soldier for hire rather than a soldier out of necessity. If they are anything like the Roman legion they would also have many skills besides warfare such as: pottery, building, farming and tailoring. If the legion was similar it would explain all of the forts that dot the landscape since the Roman legions built their own forts with their soldiers.

We actually know for a fact in the lore that the soldiers do things like chop wood and work stone, and built many of their own forts and camps, etc.
So yes, they'd be complete soldiers. They'd carry packs with supplies, and water skins, etc. There would be cavalry and infantry, and scouts, hunters, healers, clerics, everything you'd expect in an army.

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
Clodius is a warrior by inclination. His leadership abilities are his strongest suit, but in combat he relies on the bow and sword. Doesn't really have a lot of use for magic. He's from around Sutch, and they mostly farm and hunt there. Not a lot of magical education or scholarship like in the Imperial City or the Niben Valley, but the bulk of the Imperial blooded recruits come from Colovia, so he's just that average soldier type with a little more charisma and intelligence, which is why he got the promotions.DikaSmausha wrote:What core do you think you belong to, Pilaf?
edit: For the record, I'd put all non stealth Archers and siege engineers (catapault and battering ram operators) in the Soldier Sector as well. I'd put the stealthy types who spy and infiltrate in a Scout Detail sub section. I think that should exist. There should be three basic soldier types for the three Legion archetypes - Battlemage, Soldier, Scout.
Or do you think engineers and siege specialists would work better in the Scout or Battlemage sections? I could see it either way. It takes intelligence and patience to build and maintain such machines, and that's the trademark of a wizard. However, their purpose as war machines makes me think their operators would be warriors. On the other hand, using technology and guile in combat is more like what a scout would do. Perhaps engineers and siege specialists should be their own Engineer Corps?

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
Bump.
See above commentary on Engineers and Scouts. I'd like some input from others on these topics.
A Scout would be a stealthy person who patrols the land and scopes out enemy positions. He could use a blade or bow, and illusion is optional. An Engineer would be responsible for either siege engines or construction of new bases, or both.

I think that siege engineers would fall under the soldier category. They aren't using magic and they aren't doing anything stealthy. As for engineers constructing bases, I think that all soldiers would help with construction.

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
1. Why did you choose to side with the Empire?
I choose to side with the Empire because a united Skyrim and united Empire as a whole are needed to overcome the Thalmor threat.
2. Who is your favourite (in-game) Legionarre or Legion supporter?
Balgruuf the Greater
3. How do you think the Empire is better for Skyrim?
A unified Skyrim under the Empire would be better for everyone, Man, Mer and Beastfolk.
4. Who do you think should be the High King? ( Out of Imperial supporters, of course!)
By rights Elisif should be High Queen becase she has the greatest claim to the throne, though I feel Balgruuf the Greater would make a great leader as he is both wise, valiant and loved by his people.
5. Mede Empire vs. Septim Empire?
The Septim Empire was lead by many great Emperors throughout its lifespan, though I believe that the Mede dynasty is still young and should be given time to impress before making this decision.
6. Is there anything special you do when playing a Empire character (roleplaying-wise)?
I wear Imperial studded armour at all times (Except when trying to gain information in enemy territory) and carry Imperial crafted weapons. I will not steal, kill, bribe or intimidate anyone as it is wrong. Lastly if I see a Imperial control crossing Skyrim Skyrim I will link up with it and follow it to the next town or village we pass, fighting off dangers on the way.
7. What is your favourite Legion related quote?
"For the Empire!"
8: What are your thoughts on the Talos ban?
Titus Mede did what had to be done in order to insure a peace, that is all I will say on the matter.
9. Have you ever completed the Stormcloak side of the civil war?
Yes, I am ashamed to say that at a stage, I was taken in by Uilfric's honeyed words and false truths.
10: Is there anything you would change for the betterment of the Empire?
That decision of what would better the Empire is not up to me but rather to the Emperor, I am but one of his many loyal legionnaires.
11. What is your specialization? ( This will allow me to label your group)
I use words as much as my blade when fighting for the Emperor, I go ahead into towns and Villages, dressed in civilians garb trying to gain information from locals that will help our cause. With the help of my fellow legionnaires I also help set up traps for the Stormcloaks in the countryside, hoping to catch them unaware. When in battle I will predominantly use my Imperial issued bow, preferably on horseback. If the enemy get's to close I will switch to my Short sword.

Yes, but I imagine one or two of them would have focused their military training on setting up bases, etc. I'm sure all the Legates would have some basic knowledge of such things as well, because it goes along with commanding a force.11Justin93 wrote:I think that siege engineers would fall under the soldier category. I hope we actually do an RP. I have some good ideas for Clodius to propose that differ slightly from the methods used in the game, but Stormcloak spies patrol this thread so I won't speak of them here.

Yeah good to see another new recruit.
So if we start this RP, what's the time frame? Before or after Ulfric's capture and escape at Helgen? Before or after Titus Mede II falls on a sword? I assume we are going to take a lot of liberties with the time line and events portrayed in Skyrim, and it would be good to plan early.

Before Uilfric is captured and the Dragonborn has a chance to alter anything would be a good time to stage an RP. Which means the Emperor will still be alive.

We don't have to assume that for the purposes of this RP, no, but I assume it's going to become canon when the next game is released. Not that it makes a huge difference to the war in Skyrim, except for a slight morale sag.
I don't really like the idea of the Dragonborn being a big part of this, actually. Or Dragons themselves to a big degree, although one or two could show up. I'd like to think in this setting the Dragonborn doesn't join the civil war, and is off fighting evil somewhere, and this can be a parallel timeline where the Legion wins without his help.
I like that. If anything, this could be a diverging Kalpa - the events at Helgen don't have to occur at all. There can still be a Dragonborn and all that, but maybe it can unfold differently. Or maybe Alduin never appears at all. We could toy with that idea.Velvet LeChance wrote:Before Uilfric is captured and the Dragonborn has a chance to alter anything would be a good time to stage an RP. Must an RP be about the Civil War in Skyrim, perhaps it could take place in the Great War. Or any other conflict the Legions been involved in.

I'm voting either no Dragonborn, or the Dragonborn is not seen "on screen" and doesn't join either side in the civil war.
This contradicts just a little with the events of the game because of the peace treaty thing, but we could work around that.
My favorite idea is that the Dragonborn stuff happened before or after this RP, slightly out of sequence for the way it occurred side to side in the game. Again, the alternative history/parallel Kalpa thing is a good hand wave.
I know you didn't ask why I feel this way, but I feel this way because to me it makes the story more exciting and meaningful. Rather than having a guy who is essentially a super human on our side (or against us), it's a more human conflict that will require more tactics other than pointing the Thu'um master in the direction of our enemies (or trying to find a way to thwart him/her).
edit: Alternately, there COULD be a super weapon involved. The only thing I can imagine would make the Dragonborn story interesting would be if one side had been completely dominated in the civil war, but then the Dragonborn joins the remaining members of the defeated army and starts retaking territories. That would make the story very different from what we experienced in the game, since this wasn't a gameplay option. Like, what if the Stormcloaks were crushed, and both Galmar and Ulfric perish, but the Dragonborn comes down after his victory over Alduin and decides to support the remaining rebels, and slowly begins retaking Imperial territories. Then this RP could be about finding a way to stop the Dragonborn. But I don't really like that idea as much.
Another RP idea could be that the Stormcloaks have been crushed, but in a desperate attempt to make a comeback, they resurrect Potema using a forgotten ritual, and she assumed leadership, so we not only have to deal with the Stormcloaks but all their resurrected comrades, including Ulfric and Galmar zombies. I think that should really be a separate RP though.
