Nationality Affecting Side in Skyrim Civil War
I was curious about something. I was wondering if nationality would affect the side you choose in the Skyrim Civil War. You know, becuase this civil war in Skyrim reminds me a lot of the Revolutionary War America had against the King during the late 1700's. So, what is your nationality and side. I also kept an 'other' section, so those of neither nationality don't feel too left out.
So, try not to think of this on the perspective I just explained, you do you think is right and/or who do you support the most through the game.

I may be American, but if it were still ~1770AD, I'd be a Loyalist.

Re: Nationality Affecting Side in Skyrim Civil War
How are they similar? It is more comparable to Rome versus the Germanic Tribes. And most people pick the Legion, regardless of nationality, because they are Empire fanboys. They will say, "Ulfric's racist, kill Ulfric." One, being racist is not enough to kill somebody. Two, the Empire is racist. The rest just love the Empire just because it's the same piece of land. And then there is the "united Empire will win" reason. This "united Empire" could not beat Skyrim because of one soldier, do you think the Thalmor could?

Thank you for the history lesson, but I doubt anyone here is from Rome's past, or currently in any Germanic Tribes.Br3admax wrote:How are they similar? It is more comparable to Rome versus the Germanic Tribes.
The Revolutionary war is probably the most similar to the event in Skyrim, that was the most recent and most popular between the forum's majority.

Re: Nationality Affecting Side in Skyrim Civil War
But it is not similar enough, last time I checked all early Americans were British. Yet, not a single Nord is Imperial. You can't just take a war in a Empire to compare them. The fact of the matter is Tamriel is more or less Europe, and Cyrodill is its Rome.Imp wrote:Thank you for the history lesson, but I doubt anyone here is from Rome's past, or currently in any Germanic Tribes.Br3admax wrote:How are they similar? I know, that's why I don't need the Empire. I hope the new Emperor grew a pair and some spin because then I would be there instead of Windhelm.DikaSmausha wrote:I see where you are coming from, but you have to remember, without the Dovahkiin, who really would have won?

I am twisting words because you are trying to correct the thread that is not yours, if the OP wants to use the Revolutionary war, let them. And hopefully this will not turn into another empire vs stormcloaks thread.

I'm just saying every American is not a Stormcloak. And it doesn't matter whose thread it is, being on the internet makes me free to voice my opinion, as long as it adds to the discussion.

I dont think Nationality will play a big part in the choice, mostly because i am an American and i... Do not care for the stormcloaks. I like their cause and it is just, but i don't really "connect" with them if that makes any sense.

I'm a kiwi, and I picked Imperials.
I've tried them both, and I just don't like Ulfric. I don't really care that he's racist, it's more that he's a complete [&@%!].
That being said, the Imperial's are a little [censored] too, but hey... Lesser of 2 evils...

I'm American, voted Imperial.
At first I thought I'd join the Stormcloaks because it's a rebel faction and I would love to stick it to the man/Empire, but then I walked into Windhelm and Rolff lost the Stormcloaks their ace in the hole.

Re: Nationality Affecting Side in Skyrim Civil War
Interesting poll you have going there. So far it looks like Americans favour the Legion but its close and Other heavily favour Legion with me being the only "Other" to vote Stormcloak so far. I don't know how much this will show you since if you look back through other polls on this site I think the Legion is more popular here on UESP by probably about 2votes to 3votes. So inevitably more votes will go to the legion regardless of country of origin.
I'm on my way to Windhelm to join up with the Stormcloaks, Ulfric has the right of it!

Im jordanien and i voted Legion
I hate ulfric , i hate ulfrics cause , i dont think its just
I was originally going to join the stormcloaks when i heard of the games release , but when one of his followers told me ''he couldnt believe they allowed provincials to wander skyrim'' i started to think against it , then i met Rolff stone fist , and wanted to join even less , then i met Ulfric Himself , and immediatley lost all interest in joining his foolish rebellion .

I guess you didn't see the men being taken from their homes in the middle of the night by foreign invaders for worshipping the Empires main God while the legionaries and nobles sit around counting their gold and bribes not to fight back?

Re: Nationality Affecting Side in Skyrim Civil War
It's not like that. The Empire signed a truce because they knew they couldn't win against the Thalmor, and if they could, it would mean lose lots of lives. And they don't want meaningless slaughter. Nobody in the legion likes the Thalmor, and some are even Talos worshippers, but they keep it a secret, biding their time until they can strike back and erase the Thalmor from Tamriel and history itself. Ulfric is just an idiot all brawn and no brain who doesn't think about strategies and just wants to fight. I think the denial of Talos was just an excuse for him. Mind you, I do consider him the rightful High King because he beat the other guy (don't remember the name and don't care) but at the same time I find him the worst option possible for Skyrim, so it's the people's (the Dovahkiin's) duty to get rid of a narcissistic and egotistic "leader". I'm half Italian and half English and I decided to go for the Bits-Legion option in the poll.

Re: Nationality Affecting Side in Skyrim Civil War
Believe, there is no such mention of that in the OP.
Shu, it is like that. You can see prisoners being escorted around Skyrim (their home, by thalmor or legion, the invaders) or the entire quest "Missing In Action" sheds some light on these happenings too. A lot of legion supporters are quick to dismiss Ulfric saying he's only in it for power or that the stormclaok's are all racist ect. What about the guy philfredobob was talking about's brother, first thing he says to you is "Well met. Unlike my brother, I've no dislike of strangers. Met lots of 'em while I was a Stormcloak." Seems to me most people either don't see or refuse to see the faults in the legion which are as many if not more than the Stormcloak's. Not trying to derail the thread so I'll leave it at that.

I never said the legion has no faults , i hate that they recruit Maven Black briar as a jarl over riften simply due to bribing and corruption , i hate how much corruption there is in the empire in general , i hate that they had to sign the white gold concordat , and think they should have demanded a better peace treaty .GoatLiver wrote:Believe, there is no such mention of that in the OP.
