Hissien wrote:I think you are letting your bias to the empire sway your judgement. "The rest of the world?" I assume you mean highrock, skyrim and cyrodiil. In case you forgot the redguards do not want anything to do with the empire. The dunmer have nothing to get involved in the conflict with so they are out as well, and i cant see blackmarsh getting into this either. So it would be highrock, skyrim and cyrodiil vs. Alinor (Valenwood, Summerset and Elseweyr).

I dont think they bluffed. The thalmor is a force to be reckoned with, not enough in my opinion to take down the empire but hardly a threat you can ignore. Also the Empire used the Numidium on the Aldmeri dominion in the past for a reason. They would be to evenly matched (the empire would still probably win) for it to be of benefit when the sides would be so severely weakened.
your missin the point back BEFORE the white gold peace treaty back when redgaurd was with them as well as well, before the empire traded it soul to the thalmor and lost how many provinces becuse of it?

I'm talking they COULD of done somehting, they could of won but the empire was stuipd

Im sorry i thought you were talking about the next war, not the past one. They lost one province.

And you have no basis for those claims once again. We dont know if the empire could have won, just like we dont know if the thalmor could have. The empire has been around so long for a reason, they have some of the best organized military units in the world. If i remember correctly the Thalmor used subterfuge to gain the imperial city which by the way is a nigh impregnable fortress since it was originally home to the Ayleids and had to be captured from them and has been attacked many times with little damage.

Also i am not going to argue about this anymore on this thread, i dont like stealing other peoples threads despite how often i do it

Making fictional comparisons to speculative and almost completely unlikely real-world situations is rather ineffective. Now a historical reference? That would be useful.

Anyway, I still think that you're exaggerating. We don't know the sizes of the various Thalmor forces let alone the conditions in which the war was fought. Yes, the army occupying the Imperial City was destroyed. But how? Was it a siege? Was it a surprise attack while the Thalmor were celebrating/unaware? Did the Imperial Forces spring a trap and manage to flank the Thalmor force? Winning one battle does not mean that you win the war. Winning one battle does not really mean much, actually. This one did, but it cannot be used as evidence that the Imperial Legion would have been able to continue to conduct a full-scale war against the Thalmor. Clearly it was not able to. For the same reasons, I should note, that the Thalmor withdrew from Hammerfell— exhaustion, fatigue, and diminished numbers.

Again, regarding the situation in Hammerfell— the Redguards had an overwhelming advantage. The very fact that they are fighting a defensive war is a huge one to begin with. Yet the literature suggests that they and the Dominion reached a stalemate— not that the Redguards triumphed and pushed the invaders out. The war could have conceivably continued indefinitely, with neither side ever gaining a clear advantage. Both were worn down and exhausted, and probably didn't have much fight left in them. A treaty was the wisest choice for both parties— it allowed them to rest and prepare for another inevitable war.

But we can say they could get a better deal as the redgaurds did, and the redgaurds a FACTION not even half of the empires combined strngth, was able to get a better deal and be left alone since, so why could the empire not do it?

Awnser: they could of but the empire messed up.

if 1 is able to win it stands to reasson 3 or 5 could do it (cant recall 100% how many where with them at this point)
Not only do it, but do it way better, and then you ADD the fact that two of them are the best fighting there is (nords redgaurd) and then you add the fact that there are more men solders then elfs for what ever reasson, the thalmor MAY be able to win MAY, with luck or just out smarting, but unlikely and the empire could of done WAY more, not even half their army's or solders where there for the great war.

and do you think adding the Nords, who at this time will stile loyal, and had not been attracked or weekend in any way, would of chnaged the outcome? heck yes

As for not singing to it if they could of won, thats not true, they had NO idea the thalmor where going to attack why should we assumed they know anything at all?
why should you think they know the thalmors numbvers? the only one who could do anything where the blades and the thalmor took them out, the empire did not see any of this, I see no reasson to think they would know how storng the thalmor where.
buit when redgaurd did what it did, and the empire saw that ONE' of their provinces could win, they should of known all of theirs combined could of.

*in a defense war your only goal is to survive they did that there for they won.

Anytime the thalmor are involved the empuire makes mistakes and the thalmor gain up on it

you can not in anyway tell me that adding the Nords, and the other provinces would of lead to the same thing, it qwould not of, you at LEAST double it, at least, and most likely more.

Blackmarsh could be very interesting. I know very little about Argonian culture, and nothing about their architecture, so it would fascinating to go there and explore.

I'm assuming that the Thalmor will play some role in VI, and that the more recently we've been to a province, the less likely we are to go back to it.

So Skyrim, Cyrodiil, and Morrowind are definitely out.
Redguard and Daggerfall cover Hammerfell and High Rock, so they're out.
Black Marsh really has nothing to do with the Thalmor, so that's out.

That leaves us with Alinor, Valenwood, and Elsweyr.
Which is awesome, because after the last two games I'm starting to get tired of all the humans. Or at least the white people who all look alike. I'd dread a game set in High Rock. And any of these give us the chance to see the overarching conflict from the other side.

Anyway, of those it depends on how long they want to milk this Thalmor thing.
If the game takes place in Alinor, it will almost certainly revolve around overthrowing the Thalmor. Personally, I think it's a bit too quick of a resolution to that threat so I'm going to say Alinor's out.

I don't know if Valenwood can be pulled off. Heavily forested areas with cities in the trees seems a bit much even by modern standards. Particularly if they want to wait and see if they can do seasons, so the leaves change color and dynamically fall off and stuff like that.

So I'm thinking Elsweyr is the most likely.
This allows for a chipping away or strengthening of the Aldmeri Dominion before another round of combat with the Empire... and gives a setting that is supposed to be quite foreign compared to what we've seen before in terrain and culture, and allows Beth to highlight a place/race that's been pretty marginal up until now.
The Confederacy was dissolved, so that gives you some intrigue between the two resultant kingdoms (possibly allowing a resolution similar to the Civil War in Skyrim, where one side backs independence or Empire and the other favors the Dominion)...

Also, I like the Khajiit voice acting.

As much as I would like to return to Morrowind, TR pretty much says no to this...However I think the TR team should get paid for their efforts and TES3 re-released with TR for console.

The only thing I can imagine is invoking the beast races' status as slaves in some regions of the world and second class citizens in others, and that presumably speaking to the value of their culture. Because from the most recent large-scale historical example (eg the American Confederacy) proved that slaves cannot have a vibrant or worthwhile culture of their own.

Of course, that was not true then. And it's hard to imagine them being marginalized within their own homeland (Thalmor treat EVERYONE like second class citizens, but that's a whole 'nother conversation).

what if they did something sideways, and set it in the first age, or in Summerset between the oblivion crisis and the skyrim shenanigan? (well, maybe not then)

we assume they are set in chronological order in a sort of 'tick the box as you travel through the homelands of all the races' sort of way. I realise that's their 'business model' but it might be nice to see something different

Arent they doing that with ESO ?
but anyways , I like their business model :P

Now for my TES VI, I want it to be Either an epic final game , which Bethesda spends loads and loads of time developing and makes a fantastic game to go out with a tremendous bang , OR a game set across Elsweyr , Valenwood , and The Summerset Isles that involves a growing conflict between the Opressed Khajiit , the subservient Khajiit , the Bosmer , and the Dominion , and also has a dangerous evil to set loose , AND most of all , i want the Player Character to be a Nobody , and not a chosen one like the nerevanine or the dovahkiin , i want him to be more like the Hero of Kvatch , a person whos tale is unknown to legend and folklore , a person who builds his own name and makes himself the hero . THAT , would be a fun game  ......in my opinion

I would like for variety of starting areas based upon your race, what skills you choose and what kind of character you would want to have (this would never happen). But it would make the story harder to piece together so maybe not....

^ Sort of like Dragon Age: Origins? You basically pick a race and 'origin' (either a commoner or something else) and you start off on different circumstances, but the story eventually brings it down a path where it all streamlines nicely. The whole starting premise is that one fellow is going around recruiting and in desperation is willing to hire ANYONE, hence the different backgrounds/races being able to come into play.

If that can work for the next TES game I'd be all brands of excited. You could play as an Orc and start off in a stronghold, or even as a Nord in a fighter's/mercenary guild, etc.

BACK ON TOPIC THOUGH: I'd love to see the game set in Elsewyr, just because the way the Khajiit describe it sounds awesome, amazing and completely different from all the forests and trees and green we've seen in the past couple of games. A desert would be an interesting backdrop for a game, but that's just me talking :p

I'd be happy enough if they came out with the next game at all to be perfectly honest XD

If they made a game that encompassed Alinor and Valenwood and then made an expansion pack involving the Maormer or the Psijic that would be pretty cool. Although they better have some major racial lore in the next game, Skyrim was really lacking on this. I want them to revert back to how they did things during Morrowind.

I find it unlikely that they would choose the homeland of one of the beast races, so we're left with Valenwood and Summerset. Unfortunately, this means the majority of NPCs in the game would be either aloof and annoying or just plain annoying.

I do actually think that elsweyr and black marsh will be featured because it is the only really new direction they could take, locale-wise, they have focussed on a lot of humanoid races' native lands and i would like to see the beast races' lands. Akavir would be nice too, if we don't get elsweyr/the marsh.
