Looking for Morrowind Overhaul, like Oscuro's Oblivion Overh

Post by wildespace »

Yep, not the Sound & Graphics one, but one that does away with the levelled nature of Morrowind. Basically, what Oscuro's Overhaul mod does for Oblivion. If there isn't any, I wonder if there's something that prevents modders from making one.

Morrowind is largely unlevelled, certainly not at all to the extent of Oblivion, or even Skyrim, I'm not sure that anyone has really perceived a need to overhaul its system, and thus I'm not aware of any large overhaul like Oscuro's. What specifically did you want to alter about the game though?

The fact that at low levels you only meet skeletons and ancestral ghosts, and at higher levels dremoras and golden sants. Same goes about the loot: the higher lvl you are, the better the loot.

The reason is not that the game is levelled, it's just that most of the places close to the starting location are pretty easy and contain low-level loot... Not all of them though, there are two Sixth House bases within a spitting distance of Seyda Neen and Balmora, as well as Daedric ruins near Hla Oad and a certain abandonned ebony mine. And they will kill you stone dead if you go there when you're lev2, because you most definitely will run into very tough enemies there (and they may well be using high-end gear). It's true that some loot is levelled (random loot, to be specific - like in bandid caves, where you find chitin with petty soul gems at low levels and dwemer stuff with grand soul gems at high levels), but great majority of the game is completely unlevelled. If you meet lev10 smugglers at lev3 (and get your butt kicked), they will still be lev10 when you come back at lev35 (and smack them down with a single hit). The silver dagger on a table in some NPCs house is always going to be silver, it won't turn into glass when you level up.

This world is not about you, you're just walking it. ;)
Rule #137: Always waste time when you don't have any.

I have to agree with dzio. Although the world is slightly levelled, the levelled lists are limited. For example, you will always get a Daedra in some location, be it a Scamp or an Antronach, etc. In others you will always get the same NPC (whose level is generally static), and so on and so forth. Head to Red Mountain at the beginning of the game and you'll soon meet your doom, but head there at level 50 and you'll find it a walk in the park.
