Yeah, but Daedra aren't super common in other game and movie franchises. We've already got werewolves, vampires, undead dragons, raised zombies and draugr. That's enough undead stuff for a lifetime. Regardless, this better not be a zombie DLC. Draugr are bad enough because you have to fight or be near them in every damn questline. I'm hoping for some really original and unexpected from Bethesda for their next big DLC.Pilaf The Defiler wrote:Imperfect Three wrote:I'm just going to ignore all the new rumors and stick with the original idea, it's a house-building DLC as far as I'm concerned. Bethesda's add-ons almost never have anything to do with each-other. Vampire and zombie themes are way too close together for them to do both separately. i hope that leaked marketplace picture means it's close to being released. Although that'll make me have to decide between Sleeping Dogs and Hearthfire.
I beg to differ.
The common theme among Morrowind's major DLC was defeating immortal beings and denying their power over mortals. This was true in both Bloodmoon and Tribunal, and even that minor expansion that involved defeating a Lich king on an island.
Oblivion's major expansions both involved Daedra, and defeating ancient cults. (Umaril and his daedric servants, and Jyggalag and his Knights and Priests.)
There definitely seems to be a pattern or theme involved there.

Also, I'm pretty sure Umaril was at least 4000 years old, considering his father was from a previous Kalpa.

Yeah and she seems totally surprised that there could EVER be an empire in Cyrodiil. Re: Hearth Fire DLC?
Ignoring all the rumors, i'm pretty confident that Bethesda will pull off this next one. Dawnguard was great. Just too short to say that it took them seven months to get it out. I doubt they'll go into zombies to be honest, the rumor that made people think that was based off a tiny obscure bit of lore that i'd never even heard about.

It's implied she never or very rarely left Castle Volkihar her entire life. She talks about only reading about all the locations we visit. It's entirely plausible she'd be ignorant of the disappearance of the Dwarves. Of course, you're probably right, but there's still a possibility she could be from one of the other handful of time periods where the Empire didn't exist.
edit: On the other hand, there's a dragon bone in Valerica's alchemy lab. I doubt she's been out hunting dragons since their reappearance for obvious reasons, and books in Skyrim indicate fossilized dragon bones are extremely rare, so it's likely this family goes back to before the Dragon War or during it.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

But she calls the nordic barrows "ruins" and while they may have still looked more or less decrepit, would they still have been considered ruins back then? But then again she could have been taught after the dragon cult's disappearance.

Re: Hearth Fire DLC?
Not to play on semantics, but a ruin is anything that is in ruin. It could be brand new today, blow up tonight, be ruins tomorrow. Ruins are a state of being, not a type of location. All "ruins" are a shorthand for saying the ruins of [insert location name here]. Since she didnt get out of the house, she wouldnt know what the state of the burrial chambers were back "then" let alone if they existed "then" whenever "then" was.Hissien wrote:But she calls the nordic barrows "ruins" and while they may have still looked more or less decrepit, would they still have been considered ruins back then? And as mention by P two posts above...
There is a dragonbone. Dwarves existed into semimodern history. The tongues fought against them. So clearly after the dragon war. But there are a LOT of suggestions and plausible evidence that she is in fact of Nede decent. However, her father had a lot of power, which suggests after the decimation of the snowelven race. And obviously after the creation of the first vampire (of nede blood) which also puts us after the 500 companions. Clearly solitude existed (though smaller) (if only we knew when it was built)

Re: Hearth Fire DLC?
Guys, if you're going to debate how old Serana and Harkon are, make a separate thread about it.
---------------------------------------------
In my opinion, a DLC called "Hearthfire" involving zombies seems doubtful. I get that "Dawnguard" didn't exactly hint at a vampire theme, but, that in mind, I can't figure out any way for the name Hearthfire to be related to zombies. Not only that, but it just doesn't seem like the kind if theme they'd use for a DLC, especially seeing as how Draugr are already so prominent in vanilla Skyrim. I think Hearthfire will involve house-building, although there will definitely be an adventure-type questline to take up the greater part of the content.

Hearthfire?
So, it begins again
The Rumor Mill that is Reddit has posted a supposed "official description" which reads "Hearthfire, the next official game-add on for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, has arrived. For the first time in the Elder Scrolls universe, purchase land and build your own home from the ground up - from a simple one-room cottage to a sprawling compound complete with armory, alchemy laboratory, trophy room, and more! With Hearthfire, the possibilities of what you can build are endless."
So what do you think? a possibility? or just a rumor?

Re: Hearthfire?
The redditor has apparently been right before, when he leaked details of a Mass Effect 3 DLC. He hasn't posted the "official description" publicly (it was taken from a PM) and isn't willing to leak any details other than hinting that the DLC is a house mod or in some way related to Oblivion's Wizard's Tower plug-in.
I call BS until we get a legitimate info leak.

Re: Hearthfire?
There's been news of a Hearthfire DLC before, and I think that it's a possibility, especially if it has to do with home building. And since Bethesda copyrighted the name...
However, we already have a thread for this. If you want, you can ask a mod to merge this with the other one.

Sounds fairly similar to the Build Your Own Home Mod by Supernastypants. Bethesda has been known for taking inspiration from the modding community in the past and the ability for the player to build their own home was part of the Game Jam video we saw earlier on, so I wouldn't be surprised if this were actually true, particularly considering the mod's success (I myself tried it out and was quite pleased, for what the mod is).

Re: Hearth Fire DLC?
What ? Build your own home ? why do so many people want that ?
i dont care about that , i like the houses in the game
what i want is a Colourful DLC , with a new map , and , most importantly , lots of new Creatures
being able to build my own home is the least of my desires .... and even if i wanted to , there are loads mods for that sort of thing .

Re: Hearth Fire DLC?
It's been officially announced just now. You can build your own house from the ground up, starting from a simple cottage into something much, much more. You can even include stables and adopt children. Released September 4th (SOON!!!) on Xbox LIVE.

September 4th? That's only a week from now. I have a bit of a hard time believing that, although it could be possible if it was just what you said and nothing else: no important quests, NPCs, or locations. Where did you hear this?

I have to admit I screamed the house down, now build a house and get a house full of kids.
Can't wait.

It looks like fun but if all it adds to the game is building a house, raising a family and protecting them from skeevers, bandits and kidnappers I don't see myself spending money on this.

LOL good stuff! I've been talking to a few PS3 owners who arent very happy with this at all, because of the dawnguard debacle! I can understand why they are [&@%!] off like. Like I said to them, I just hope bethesda try and make it up to them with some free content or something ya know? Good will and all that.
