glitch: thieves guild without joining

I've been playing without joining the thieves guild. I went into the inn boat at the waterfront, and a female character told me that the Gray Fox wants to meet me at Bruma. I have a "turning a blind eye" entry in my journal. When I meet the Gray Fox, he says "don't you have something to do?" and won't continue a conversation.

Has anybody seen this bug before?

Anyway, I get to steal his gray cowl without getting any infamy points at all

i believe that the quest your talking about is WAY down the mages guild quest line. Thats really odd. You should try joining and find out what will happen when you get to the quest, if your even allowed to join or rejoin as it were.

I got that, too. I figure it's the first glitch I've seen on the Xbox 360 after 100+ hours of playing.
