Raticate hits like a truck... it doesn't have the highest health but Hyper Fang is extremely deadly.
Some of the more powerful Pokemon are the small ones. Have a look at Sandslash, this thing cuts through enemies like butter... reminds me of how surprisingly good Dugtrio is.

I don't think I'd have the stamina to do that one. I prefer variation personally so I've never tried to accomplish that one.

Heh, just never, EVER use Hyper Fang against or let hit MissingNO with abnormally high heath like "%15" if not on an Emulator, lest you suffer the wrath of the dangerous 5-hour-wait-for-it's-health-bar-to-stop-going-down.

Ya about that..... never run into a MissingNo while doing a nuzlock challenge, too many casualties with that accursed pokemon, I tried to run, but it wouldn't let me, and proceeded to kill my entire wimpy party

Not sure if I should go for a Pidgeot-Rhydon combination... or use Aerodactyl-(other ground pokemon) in my setup.
Aero is strong and fast(extremely fast), but having two rock types is a bit of a stretch so I'm not sure If having that one with a Rhydon would work too well.
Will have to wait awhile though, just beat Giovanni for the first time and am now about to go into the tower of dead pokemon. At least I got myself Jolteon now, will need to teach it an electric attack or two though... it doesn't get Thunder for quite awhile.

I wouldn't take both Aerodactyl and Rhydon, that's 2 mainstays of your team, with the same weakness to water. Add Aerodactyl's weakness to Ice, and it gets mauled badly by the Elite 4...
As for Jolteon, teach it Shockwave, or whatever that move is called that LT Surge gives you.

I've just arrived at the Safari zone, so I think I'm going to go and catch me a Rhyhorn to replace my Sandslash(still holding his own, but don't like the look to much).
Current lineup:
Lvl40- Jolteon
Lvl40- Gyarados
Lvl40- Butterfree
Lvl37- Pidgeot
Lvl36- Sandslash
Lvl23- Vulpix(waiting till I get the exp share so I can just power level to flamethrower and evolve it, got bored of switching out all the time)
At the moment I have three pokemon with a flying type(Butterfree, Pidgeot, Gyarados) ... this will eventually change but it doesn't matter to much at the moment as I have both a ground and electric pokemon. Sandslash can't be hurt by lightning, and Jolteon heals itself with every lightning attack that hits it...
I'll probably have to replace Butterfree soon for a Ghost pokemon... at the moment he serves the psychic role and the catcher role too, but a Ghost pokemon like Haunter(can't get Gengar without trading unfortunately) will probably be more effective and round my team off more. Plus, I've never used a Ghost pokemon in my life... should be interesting.
I'm enjoying using Machoke at the moment, although I'll probly swap him out later on, not sure for what though.
Gyarados is going to be swapped out aswell, possibly for Kingler, probably for Tentacruel.

Finally got rid of Sandslash after finding a Rhyhorn in the Safari zone... now the only problem is that I have three pokemon in my lineup that need serious training before I continue to Cinabar Island... those being Gastly, Vulpix and Rhyhorn.
Thankfully I caught pretty much everything up to this point(save a few of the critters in the Safari zone that just take forever to get hold of) so I got the EXP share to help out with the boring task.
The team is getting more rounded out now, this setup should be able to stampede through the rest of the game with a few TM additions. I may replace Gyarados later on for something else but I'm not to sure atm, I haven't caught anything that really matches it's power. A Starmie might work... or perhpas a Kingdra if I can get that Dragon scale off of a Horsea.
I was just checking it up actually, and it appears the only weakness it has is too other Dragons... and since Dragons are the most uncommon enemy in the game it doesn't really matter much.
It might take awhile to get that Dragon scale though...

Dragons are weak against Ice too aren't they?
Or is that just Dragonite, cos it's Dragon/Flying?
(Or is Kindra Water/Dragon?... Not sure, never had one.)

Kingdra is Water/Dragon, but they both cancel out the two weaknesses of those two types for some reason. It's a bit like how Dragonite is not weak to Lightning despite being a half Flying type.
All in all it seems like it would be pretty tough.
hey.. I have a challenge to all. play a game with only one type. like basically all the trainers you see. Only that type of pokemon, and you beat the entire elite four.
you can pick hybrids. and change the moves with TMs.
Anyway, I think it looks better then a lot of the water types in this game. Gyarados and Starmie take the cake, but Kingdra doesn't look that bad in my opinion.
Totodile is still the boss of water pokemon, but wrong game...
@General: I've tried that before with lightning pokemon(straight after Beating Brock of course)... but I didn't get to far.
Don't know if I want Haunter really, but I can't think of any other decent Psychic-using pokemon. And I overuse Kadabra.
Considering swapping either Pikachu, or Charizard for Jolteon/Flareon, and I will eventually trade Fearow out for Dragonite I think.

Yeah you can get them, but there is only a 5% chance of getting one from a wild Horsea or something like that... or I'll have to wait until after the elite 4 for a 'definite' chance, but screw waiting that long.
I would stick with Pikachu, Evolve it at level 41 and bam you got a Raichu that can actually take a hit while remaining extremely sp.att offensive.
Yeah, I remember it being 41 from my corrupted game. As soon as you evolve it, bam! you got a beast of a pokemon.
The good thing about Lapras is 'Ice Beam', that move is just so destructive(sometimes freezes too) but lacks PP so use one of those PP ups on it. Will knock out Dragons(4x damage) quickly too.
