Foxes of Skyrim
What do you think about foxes? Do you let them be? Kill them?
Me I follow them. They have the uncanny ability to lead me to interesting spots. I like them with their red fur. I get upset if I see a killed one, so I look for nearby wolves and destroy them.
I accidentally shot a fox once and felt kinda bad about it.

I use Kyne's Peace,......and murder them. Viciously.

I leave them alone, although when they sneak up on you with that heavy breathing it does make me draw my weapon.

Re: Foxes of Skyrim
I kill foxes all the time because I find that their pelts are pretty good for leather, compared to having to kill numerous goats just to find two pelts, or the difficulty of killing deer before your archery is very high. Once I can kill a deer in one shot I tend to start leaving foxes alone though.

I run into wolves so often that leather isn't much of a concern, and besides, the foxes are nice! How could you kill them?

Foxes are no match for my trusty deadric warhammer! -cue eveil laughing and then old comedy coughing at the end- Yeah, I despise all the wildlife in SKyrim, except Butterflies, I hate harvesting them. But that's another story for a different un-made thread...

Re: Foxes of Skyrim
I just murder the hostile animals like wolves and bears.
The ones that don't do anything... Well, I just leave them alone.
But when I'm roleplaying as a hunter I must destroy everything. And for many reasons: money, food, clothes... Etc.....

Re: Foxes of Skyrim
I tend to use the non-hostile wildlife as a kind of radar/alarm system. If I see several deer grazing peacefully, it's a good sign that there aren't any spriggans, angry mages, bears, wolves or sabre cats nearby. Goats are especially useful, as they rarely go cross-country and tend to stay on the road when disturbed. Sending a couple of goats bounding down the road ahead of me has flushed out Assassins, Bandits and Thieves more than once.
As a resource, foxes are somewhat useless. 1 fox pelt = 1 leather. Bears, deer and sabre cats have a better rate of return. And goats are completely useless. It takes two to make a single leather, and goats don't always drop a goat hide anyway. I don't know if it's a glitch, but goats tend to be "Empty" for me about 50% of the time.

Re: Foxes of Skyrim
Yeah, doesn't make much sense that a goat doesn't even have a single leg sometimes... As I said I mainly only kill foxes at first when deer, bears and sabre cats are out of my ability to kill. (Yeah, at first I always have trouble hunting deer until I have my archery higher.)

Exactly. Like I said. Foxes often run to a direction and I follow and I end up in a cave with a boss hiding a chest with great stuff in it.Gideon Dragontongue wrote:I run into wolves so often that leather isn't much of a concern, and besides, the foxes are nice! How could you kill them?
Maybe foxes are guides that guide you to great loot.

Re: Foxes of Skyrim
I've never understood why Rabbits Killed was included in the Stats. Pure useless rubbish.
It would have been far more meaningful to have a stat for each "hostile" critter, and have the stats broken down by kill method: Wolves killed H2H/Archery/Melee/Destruction Magic.

Re: Foxes of Skyrim
Cruelty! How could anyone kill innocent little foxes? Unless a spriggan has gotten to them first, they don't bother me. I can see if you have a hunter type character that kills foxes for fur, but just for the fun of it or to fill soul gems? I rather kill mudcrabs that actually try to hurt you unlike the foxes.

Re: Foxes of Skyrim
Speaking of Mudcrabs, those things destroy Slaughterfish. I saw two Mudcrabs square off against four Slaughterfish, and the crabs annihilated them.

Re: Foxes of Skyrim
The foxes in Skyrim are cute. I don't enjoy killing them, but I have armor and clothing mods installed that require fox pelts to craft things, so sometimes it's necessary.

Re: Foxes of Skyrim
I have a fascinating story about Foxes actually.
So, I was doing The Blessings of Nature quest and I was at the Eldergleam when I realized I hadn't picked up Maurice. After I beat myself up over that decision I eventually decided to go and get the guy. Well, as soon as I go get him his dialogue catches up and realizes 10 minutes before (or in Skyrim time probably about a few days to get to the grotto, hit the tree, and back) I had hit the Eldergleam. He flips out, and I'm like chill bro... I'm not gonna kill the tree that's why I came back for you. He, then tells me he has an idea and runs off. Of course he's not following me anymore so I can't fast travel and seeing as he has very little health I follow him to make sure he makes it their in one piece. Well, after all the terrible things he ran through (Valtiem Towers, and Fort Amol where he was wailed on by a Bandit Highwaymen and a Storm Mage) he ALSO decided it would be a great idea to agro a Fox. A FOX. The tree-loving, Kyne Worshipper, Hippie decided to AGRO a damn Fox. And he killed the damn thing. I laughed myself to sleep that night. Seriously, the game just made me laugh.
Long story short: Maurice Jondrelle agro'd a Fox, and he killed it. lol

Re: Foxes of Skyrim
Just a few days ago, I was attacked by a fox. Never had that happen before. It didn't have that green glow that Spriggan-controlled creatures have. I'm at a complete loss to explain it as an intended in-game mechanic. Another one for the Bug/Glitch file.

Re: Foxes of Skyrim
I've had them attack as well, but that was when I had a certain wildlife mod... and I know that there is one fox in the game that is programmed to attack you.

You mean Pumpkin in Southfringe Sanctum? No, this was just a run-of-the-mill fox in the great outdoors.

Re: Foxes of Skyrim
Yeah, that's the one, I don't know what could have made that fox attack without being spriggan'd or having a fury spell cast on it, which I assume isn't the case...

I had foxes and rabbits attack me before. Even before I installed the epic creatures mod (which added a rabbit of death btw) Congrats beth, congrats.

Re: Foxes of Skyrim
It was probably a spriggan that caused that. But Kyne's Peace or Animal Alligence usually stops hundreds of deer and foxes from attacking.
