Man, I'd hate to be training Bellsprout... the little blighter doesn't evolve till level 21 and until then it's HP is way to low for me to feel comfortable with it.
I tend to avoid Grass types altogether... I love Bulbasaur but I hate the look of it's evolutions.

I'm still annoyed that Leafgreen doesn't have Scyther(one of my favourites)... I prefer it to Pinsir which Leafgreen gets instead.

Bellsprout is now irrelevant. I beat Misty (just) thanks to a lucky Sleep Powder from Butterfree on Starmie, that kept it out for long enough for Pikachu to mop the floor with it.

Now I just need to decide what I want my final team to be...

Charmeleon/Charizard
Pikachu/Raichu
Pidgeotto/Pidgeot
Water type.. (I'm thinking maybe Tentacruel)
Butterfree (Which I want to replace with another pokemon that can use Psychic attacks)
and undecided for my last spot. I'd like either a Ground or Fighting type, but I'll probly end up using a normal. (Rattata actually kicks some serious ass ATM. Level 18 and more damage than Charmeleon..)

Yeah, Butterfree is a don at this point of the game. He's taking out everything and only getting hit when I switch the Magikarp out for the exp training.
Compound-eyes + Sleep-Powder = Godly

I'm honestly not sure what setup I'm going for here, I just know Jolteon will be in there till the end once I acquire the Eevee in that city with the shopping center. Gyarados is one I'm also thinking about keeping till end game once this bloody Magikarp hurries up and evolves....
Charizard might end up being replaced later on... I never got to give Ninetales a good run in last time, and if not that one then Rapidash looks pretty cool.
Maybe a Rhydon will make the team to... would be able to take a lot of hits in physical battles and completely stop electrical attacks.

Oooh Rhydon....

Problem there is how late in the game you are first able to catch Rhyhorn.

Although, you may be able to get them in the Safari Zone? I can't quite remember.

Have you tried Magmar Dean? (If you can get it in Leafgreen..)

Yeah, some of the best ones are found later on unfortunately. I can wait till the Safari zone though, I'll just use some random ones till then... who knows I might find something I like.

I think Magmar can be found in Leafgreen... I just can't deal with the way it looks. There are some Pokemon that just look really out of place to me and that is one of them.

Yeah I know. There are some silly looking pokemon out there.

Magmar, Jigglypuff/Wigglytuff, Clefairy/Clefable, Weepinbell, Seal/Dewgong... the list goes on.

If you have a copy of Diamond, Pearl, or Platnium, you SHOULD be able to put it in the bottom slot of a DS, the Gen IV game you chose should check your pokemon loadout and your PC boxes, and allow you to send up the pokemon.

If you see stuff in there like MissingNOs, SHUT IT OFF IMMEDIATELY.

Also, quick question. Does the Long Range Trainer glitch and Q glitch(es) work in Leafgreen/Firered?

Magmar is AWESOME but it looks like it's constantly making a duck-face. DO NOT WANT.

Also, Believe, I am at the cave before 2nd gym atm.

Actually, I stopped playing for about a year, but 2 days ago I started to play Emerald again... AGGRON FTW!

I'm still in the 2nd town though, with only a Lv7 Torchic...
SKYRIM FTW!!!

Nothing wrong with Pokemon, use to be addicted to this when I was a kid.

Emerald is actually a really good game, I'm thinking about starting up a round once I finish Leafgreen. Absol also holds my no.1 favourite spot, the thing is brilliant.

@Raven: aha to true, I think it is the duck face that puts me off the most.

That cave took me ages to get through, trying to find a clefairy for the dex takes ages.

Yeah, that and the fact it's a Dark type make it awesome.

Anywho, my current setup that I just reached the Rock-Tunnel with:

lvl25- Charmeleon(power house)
lvl25- Gyarados(Will probably change it later, but its really the only water pokemon I have atm)
lvl25- Butterfree(Starting to weaken slightly, still the no.1 catcher on my team. Not sure yet what I will switch it for)
lvl23- Sandslash(Using it till I get a Rhyhorn later on, pretty useful nonetheless)
Lvl5- Pidgey.... don't laugh, about to train it up.(will replace for an Aerodactyl later)
Lvl12- Meowth(My pokemon I use for HM's. Also picks up items)

Use Treeko this time, though. VERY useful.

Video...wtf?

Anyway, I would probably go with Treeko anyway. The other two are a bit weird to look at, and a Grass type would be good for the beginning if I remember correctly. I always switch starters out eventually anyway, so it's no big deal what I choose.

Still can't work that out.

And didn't I read this somewhere?
A swampert with ice bean, surf, earthquake, and any other move, can kill anything in game.

I think I tried it one game. Got to lvl 75 by Elite four, killed everything.

Possibly, but it is still 4x weaker to grass types so you couldn't completely rely on it through the entire game. One semi powerful grass move would wipe it out completely.

Also... isn't level 75 a tad high for the elite four stage? I thought the Champion in that game had level 50 pokemon or something.

My team on heartgold:

Meganium lv40
Haunter lv40
Ampharos lv40
Quagsire lv42
Shiny Lage of Rage Gyarados: lv38

around that, i think. It's not the best team at all, but it's served me pretty well. I feel like resetting it again, Meganium blows. What annoys me thouh is that ihad just reset it because I wanted to try something else, and I lost my Mew(special event) ;_;
Currently at Ho-Oh anad it's a massive b!tch to catch. Gonna stack up on a ton of heavy balls and dusk balls.

Well, I've just finished the S.S. Anne, and I'm pumping myself up, ready to take on Lt Surge.

Current team is:
Fearow lvl 22
Raticate lvl 22
Pikachu lvl 24
Charmeleon lvl 22
Butterfree lvl 18
Magikarp lvl 18

I'm only planning on keeping Charmeleon, Pikachu, and Fearow out of those. I'll probly replace Gyarados later on, but I don't know what I want to replace Butterfree and Raticate at this stage... (Actually, Raticate kicks some serious ass... I'm pleasantly surprised.)

I used nothing else, The Entire game.

And you have ice beam for grass types. It usually attacks first, and It's not Like The grass pokemon will survive a two move, like solar beam.
