No, marriage is a legally-binding contract which was made initially to recognize the ancient Christian ceremony of marriage, between two people of the same faith - indeed, same congregation. Perhaps it has become a secular practice, but at its core is Christian faith, and the Christian faith alone. Take that as you will.
Wikipedia disagrees.

There was actually a point in time where Christianity recognized polygamy (male-centric) as its official definition. It changed mid-13th century. Marriage, in all forms, existed well-before a random carpenter supposedly walked on water.

It may have been made by Christians or whatever, but it's practiced world-wide now by all manner of religious and non-religious people. It's pretty much turned into a secular ceremony.

Unless of course you don't believe that it is only secular, and believe that it is a very big religious deal, in my religion's case there is no such thing as "till death do you part" it is forever, and seeing it used by people to reap the worldly benefits of marriage really ****'s me off. With that, I'm done, no point in debating on the internet, no one will change their views and in the end no one ends up happy.

I could have an other-worldly, or religious, belief in chicken, and that beef is from the devil. I then, in that sense, could fight for a ban on all beef because beef is unholy.

I'm not I'm pointing out things that that dose not say like
A. slavery we did back when USA was around was NOT the slavery they had in the bible
B. the bible says to follow the law of the land unless it goes against God

two very big points that your post did not point out
There was actually a point in time where Christianity recognized polygamy (male-centric) as its official definition. It changed mid-13th century. Marriage, in all forms, existed well-before a random carpenter supposedly walked on water.
Yeah your right, its been since the dawn of time, since God made that with Adam and Eve. The fact you did not even know that shows you know NOTHING of this and its useless to talk to you about it.
If you really think we start at Christ then you know nothing of this and no point ti keep talking

also no, your wrong my friend (see how stupid it is to just say that?)

also form your own link
Although the institution of marriage pre-dates reliable recorded history,
So how can you say it was before or after when it admits we don’t have any reliable data on it?
Since a belief in God spreads PAST reliable recorded history?

I could have an other-worldly, or religious, belief in chicken, and that beef is from the devil. I then, in that sense, could fight for a ban on all beef because beef is unholy
Once again, the difference is WE are fighting for only OUR beliefs, not where you CANT get a "marriage" in anyway

it be like if YOU try to force the beef ban on us saying our Beliefs are WRONG

we wont stop you form getting a civa union or something else you make up, or any other wedding, just not the Christian marriage, even if you have “Adopted it” its still ours

Notice how you dont want Christains messing with any of YOUR belifes? same thing with us

I'm not saying that marriage did not exist prior to Christianity, I'm saying that the practice of marriage as it is by the American government is derived purely from the Christian practice.

Here's my opinion: The government should allow any two consenting adults to get married. Whether these two people can be married by their religion naturally depends on their religion itself.

@Wolfie: a belief in a higher power has been around since before recorded time and polygamy(male centered) has been around since before roman times, hell even vikings had multiple wives and mistresses

Wolfie...you do realize the Bible has been edited and rewritten countless times, right? Polygamy was the official practice of the Christians, i.e, the people who read the Bible.

To top that off, Christianity isn't even all that old in the grand scheme of things. Humans have existed for the better part of 100k years. Known civilizations date back at least 5k years ago, and they each had their own religions and practices. Christianity is simply a rehashing of many of those beliefs and calling them their own.

I don't know why gay's are so mad at "christians"

I don't know any christians who intentionally take actions towards gay people. In fact, I'm not aware of one single soul that I cross paths with that does.
I feel gay people are just insecure about their social status...It's almost no different then when I bring a black friend to a "redneck" bar and they say to me "Is this a good idea, ya know I am black"...It's only a problem if you bring it up? Nobody really cares what you are or what your beliefs are. It's how you act and until they're brought into the light where the back and forth starts.
Quite frankly, I think the negative light is really self-brought.
Are you gay and want to have a same-sex marriage? Move to where it's legal. The world is becoming more and more accepting of human "differences" yearly/monthly/daily.

A black man is president. That alone shows how far this country has come.

Wolfie...you do realize the Bible has been edited and rewritten countless times, right?
find me proof of it being rewritten to chnage it dramatcly? and take in to the face that when you translate you just cant get the same wording sometimes

Hint read the dead sea scrolls.

You saying something don’t make it true, the fact you think our marriage stats at Christ shows you know nothing of the bible let alone if its ever been chnaged.

Polygamy was the official practice of the Christians, i.e, the people who read the Bible.
Back when? when they could not READ the bible, Christians even in Christ time used the bible wrong, mainly cause most could not read it. and where told what to believe. we still do to this day. We admit that

don’t take our actions to = what the bible says because it even says we will fail to follow it 100%

To top that off, Christianity isn't even all that old in the grand scheme of things.
No its not, becuse God son came later, but the ot and the belief in that God, how old is that one? we have not find its "birthplace" it goes past the reliable point in history

Example:
Spoiler:
Image
[/quote]
But you forgot to add God, and as for your "refresing" I can do that with a billion things that have NOTHING to do with one another

Lets see here, compare the "father of modern science" with any of the guys form before, they all share similar story and they all did the same idea, dose that mean one of them don’t exist?

I can put together world leaders and famous people and get things similar and fine someone who fits them all, dose that mean he don’t exist?

yes those do date back and all that how ever, unlike them Christianity is part of the three BIGGEST religions and two of them where around since as far back as we know

there is no telling how long people spread the bible by speaking, there is no telling how long before it was put down as words

Even then, Christs story was for told during the OT and the old story’s WAY before Christ came, he would be born of the house of David form a virgin, he would preform signs, etc all of these where fortold long before christ came so your idea they “stole the ideas” is flawed because they foretold was before he came, how long? We can never know only guess. but they could just as easily been before all of those and be why they share the same, or it could be that there is TRUTH to this and thats why so many share the same ideas, there IS a God but its in all of those storys and retelling (which would mean I could be wrong for all I know, I fully admit that)

That's on par with saying "Yes, gays can marry, they can marry opposite gender people like anyone else". There's money issues, job issues, the issue of packing up everything and changing your life forever. It's impractical.

I've never really given that much thought, but my initial reactions would be:

Any person, man or woman, Hetero or Homo, willing to volunteer for our Armed Forces is quite commendable.

Why I think "Don't ask, don't tell" would be a good thing:
The armed forces probably by majority heterosexual. In order to keep everyone on the same page/focused on the task at hand, eliminate the problem from being brought up.
No solider is going to deny help from another solider at the call of duty, regardless of his/her sexual preferences. But in order to keep a happy headquarters, keep it to yourself.

Yea, that's pretty much my initial reaction to that.

How do you think I feel House of wolf?
You guys say "No you wrong"
"Why?"
"Because you are!"

you even said multiple times "No your wrong"
with out any proof

heck you even said married existed long before Christ, well DUH! you don’t think you have not made me roll my eyes 50000 times already?

Also there is no “wining” if you think its about winning then I'm sorry but your doing it wrong...

You make claims you have no proof of then get mad when we do the same, each side is doing the same and making the other roll their eyes.
