the fact is that the smoke itself didn't seem to produce any direct linkage to increased cancer prevalence, which did go against researcher expectations, but that's not the only strike against it spiney, nor should that be considered conclusive "evidence" that pot is "harmless".

The most damaging part of using MJ isn't what it does to you brain. In cases of vaporizing it, there is no smoke inhalation, so you get pure THC. The thing is, when smoked, MJ creates more tar in your lungs than tobacco smoke.

that's apparently not true Frost Mage, based on the research, or at least the tar produced isn't as carcinogenic. the fact is though that the main componemt of cannibis does produce detrimental psychological effects, both short and long term.

Not really arguing that, its more the studies I've read contradict what others say. You can state what you've read, I've read otherwise. Though yours, Ragnarock, seem to have heen done in the 80s.

What are you talking about? Here is their interpretation of the results:Ragnarok wrote:nice try, but no. they state a conclusion regarding "global memory" but ignore spcific components of "global memory" being memory and attention. you can't conclude that overall system degredation hasn't occurred and simultaneously ignore the possibility of individual component degredation that affects overall system efficiency and reliability. who do you think you're dealing with or talking to? some rank amatuer?
Current marijuana use had a negative effect on global IQ score only in subjects who smoked 5 or more joints per week. A negative effect was not observed among subjects who had previously been heavy users but were no longer using the substance. We conclude that marijuana does not have a long-term negative impact on global intelligence. Whether the absence of a residual marijuana effect would also be evident in more specific cognitive domains such as memory and attention remains to be ascertained.
Where do they mention global memory? And to the whole 'who do you think you're dealing with' thing - you're not a supervillain, lose the embarrassing lines. Also, people would be less inclined to believe you're a rank amateur if you could actually spell it right. Not that I'm implying your spelling affects the content of your argument, but y'know, it might help your case.
Except... my point was that a component of weed can be used to treat schizophrenia. Which still stands. As I said last time, the study shows a constituent of weed can be used medically... I'm still not sure what your argument is. That smoking weed can cause anxiety? Uh... startling discovery.Ragnarok wrote:uh, you mistated that. "The study shows that a component of weed can be used as a safe and effective treatment for schizophrenia" when ISOLATED. what exactly do you think they mean when they say "a cannabis constituent which is devoid of the typical effects of the plant." in regard to CBD? they mean the typical effects of the plant are in regard to its main component "delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol" is "delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol" which produces "anxiety and psychotic-like symptoms in healthy volunteers". THAT is the "typical effects of the plant". you didn't score so high on "reading comprehension" did you? cut down on the dope, dope.
I have to prove that I'm not a pothead? Uh... I don't think so. The burden on proof is on you, if you didn't know. Since there's no reason to believe I'm a stoner, there's no reason I have to defend myself. Unless you believe that defending the use of weed means I'm a pothead, which would make you a moron.Ragnarok wrote:prove me wrong that your not some brain-dead pothead. so far you've done nothing but parrot and regurgitate all the standard and usual doper rhetoric.
Yeah. Someone with views opposing yours - lowlife. Makes sense. Also, mind cooling it on the personal attacks? I'd hate to see this thread locked. Furthermore, as I pointed out before, I think you're one of the only people in this thread who's admitted to being a 'former' massive pothead... so I'm still not sure why you consider me the stoner, stoner.Ragnarok wrote:still no evidence of intelligent life
yeah, and I guess arguing in favor of rape doesn't make you a rapist, but it still qualifies you as a low life ...
Re: Government study shows MJs true potential as medicine
then please point me to this evidence that says otherwise. I have yet to see any. I just dismantled the crapola Rhyme Asylum tried to pass off as contradictory evidence, which it really wasn't ...

In Summary:
Marijuana is a dangerous, addictive drug that poses significant health threats to users.
Marijuana has no medical value that can't be met more effectively by legal drugs.
Marijuana users are far more likely to use other drugs like cocaine and heroin than non-marijuana users.
Drug legalizers use "medical marijuana" as red herring in effort to advocate broader legalization of drug use.

Honestly, if you can't debate without personally attacking the people you're debating with, then there is no point. It ceases to be a legitimate debate and becomes a mud slinging fist fight. Thread locked.
