I don't vote? does that make me less american?
You vote for who? the only 2 people, that whoever appoints them, are "worth" voting for?
I've only been eligable for one voting campaign....I didn't find either Obama or McCain worthy of my vote?

What reason, logic? Have to agree? Did I step into the Twilight Zone?

Re: True American/Anything
Implying a major problem is people not voting, instead of people voting without being educated on the stances of the parties running. Ignorant votes is one of the reasons why the world is such an awful place - democracy is terrible. The average person simply doesn't know enough to be able to cast a meaningful vote on the subtleties of ethics in modern medicine, or the economics of a country. What's that, 18 year old art student? You know how to beat the recession? That's cool, just step into the 'my opinion is worthless' booth and tell experts who spent their entires lives studying their fields how your uninformed ideas better theirs.House of the Wolf wrote:Some people don't even give the effort to so much as vote (the easiest obligation to fulfill [at least, in most states] within any version of Democracy)
Less people voting is a good thing. Before everyone votes, they should at least educate themselves.

I'm not going to poo-poo you for what you say here, but I am going to say that countless people, throughout the world, have died in the name of Democracy (of some form or another). It's something that should never be taken for granted..
That said, I can see what you mean about the candidate pool lately...

What led you to believe I don't know anything about this countries pros? Because I have.Dark Lord Cam wrote:Frosty, I'm gonna say this to you honestly. Study more than just our cons before making statements like that. Study more than just the lies, the conspiracies, and the rumors.Frost Mage wrote:IMO, America's cons outweigh its pros. Why don't I move you ask?
1. I'm only 13. Unless both of my parents can find a job in a foreign country and get a place to live, it's not happening.
2. Even if I was an adult, all of my friends are here, I've been conditioned to this way of life, so I will stay here, as I can put up with most of its downsides, even if they are huge.
Study the culture, study the music, study the people, study the literature. America is more than just actions. America is a nation like any other. It is an idea, a voice, and the collective will of millions. The minority in power do not speak for America. They speak for themselves.

Nothing is more American than apple pie, it may not be the first of its kind, but damn if it doesn't make you think about America...because we say every chance we get

Hamburgers, made in America. Germans bound their meat whole, we had the idea to grind the meat first. Hamburgers do not come from Hamburg look it up.

Because that's the point of this thread....?Frost Mage wrote:And I feel Italian when eating pizza. Nothing wrong with that. But why point it out?
And do you really feel Italian when eating pizza? I don't, though I've been to Italy and I didn't like their pizza as much as ours, so that's probably why. I don't feel Chinese when eating Chinese food either. But there is something so quintessentially American about baseball games, much like the apple pie thing.
And House, why is that? I've been to several O's games, am I missing something?
