Christ, I was just kidding. How is: "I've never met an Irishman before, because if I had, I would know as they all have curly orange hair and I've never met a person with orange and curly hair before." not an obvious joke?Guy No. 2 wrote:pfc vasquez wrote:I have nothing whatsoever to do with any Irish or Ireland. Seriously, it is. The first time i went to Rome i was absolutely amazed that there were no obese people. There was only one or two, and that one or two had a fanny pack and a camera hanging from his neck and was waiting in line at the colosseum.
I personally love stereotypes as long as they arnt hatefull. They make life fun.

I have to agree with most americans being obese, you can't walk into a resturaunt without seeing a 270 pound person trying to squeeze his way into a booth...
...and diplomacy continues to fail. Their ears fall deaf, and their eyes fall blind, yet they are still not mute. They will not know their errors. Only what they believe themselves. But we... we shall not be silenced.

i know it was a joke. some prejudices are funny, some aren't, some just don't say anything at all. for me (personally) yours belonged to the latter (living in a foreign country, i have dealt with plenty of prejudices) anyway i just didn't think yours was that funny, is all.pfc vasquez wrote: Christ, I was just kidding. Nord wisdom:

Thanks Caz, I totally agree. Being personally Irish, it;s annoying that lots of people think we are all farmers that have red hair, when its totally not true! I know now your comment was a joke but in fairness it didnt seem like a joke at the time and was almost like an insult but anyway lets just forget about it please and next time try putting in a few smilies or sumthin when makin a joke(to pfc vasquez) or whateverCaz wrote:i know it was a joke. some prejudices are funny, some aren't, some just don't say anything at all. for me (personally) yours belonged to the latter (living in a foreign country, i have dealt with plenty of prejudices) anyway i just didn't think yours was that funny, is all.pfc vasquez wrote: Christ, I was just kidding. I'm aware that humor is subjective, guys.
Everyone deals with prejudice. Here's how I dealt with it:
Phase 1: irritation/anger
Phase 2: laughter/indifference
I don't know what comes after phase 2. It think it might be the final phase. We'll see! It's very exciting!
Here is a smiley for Guy No. 2:
(edit: I'd like to mention that I don't generally insult people based on their skin, ethnicity, nationality, etc. I am as indifferent about the Irish as I am about the Estonians or Canadians or Kenyans or whatever, okay.)

Why was the funny aimed at the Irish picked up and put in the box marked 'suspicion for prejudice' - when my arrant anti-French stance was ignored? Was that because people have a warped, subjective view of what equates as 'prejudice'? Or is it simply because everyone hates the French..
Either way, my Spidey-senses haven't picked up on the slightest hint of genuine prejudice on the UESP.
So cool it, peeps, and concentrate on what really matters: mocking the French (although they do now have the 'least frumpy First Lady' in world politics. kudos to Carla Bruni!).

The French do have fries. Those are pretty great.
I say we make up new and random stereotypes.
New Stereotypes #1: All people from Ireland can fly.
New Stereotype #2: Americans are NOT carbon-based life forms, but aluminum-based
New Stereotypes #3: Australians are born with the ability to speak every language on the planet

Beware the Belgians.
New stereotype #4: Belgians eat children. With lots of mayonnaise.
