Re: Early 90s Rave Heads?
There was a Woodstock revival back in the day, no?
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

I was way too young to be sucking pacifiers in the early 90s, but The Prodigy was one of my favorite bands during the mid-to-late 90s. I'm also madly in lust with Praga Khan/ Lords of Acid (they were around in the early period, right?) and over the years have developed an ironic appreciation for campy early 90s techno-pop stuff like Leila K and Technotronic. But... mostly, no. My palette skips from Kraftwerk straight to Robert Miles and Daft Punk, and my all time favorite electronic musicians are Armin van Buuren and DJ Tiesto, so that should give you some sense of what you're working with here. Not that late 80s/ early 90s stuff sucked, just hasn't ever grabbed my attention.
Also, drugs are bad, mmkay!

I've actually never heard of Praga Khan, but Lords of Acid definitely were around then. But at least you can listen to some Kraftwerk, Robert Miles, and Daft Punk. Such good artists.DorostheConqueror wrote:And they call ME a troll.Dark Spark wrote:There was a Woodstock revival back in the day, no?

I like Tiesto as well as van Buuren, compared to other Trance artists they are definitely the best.

Re: Early 90s Rave Heads?
Praga Khan is the main dude behind Lords of Acid. He did a number of other projects, most notably the Mortal Kombat album (DUN DUN DUNDUN DUN DUN).
I listened to a [&@%!] of techno, trance, and insert electronic subgenre here bands, starting from about 95 or 96. Mostly trance, though. Robert Miles, DJ Sammy, Alice Deejay, DJ Keoki (he was around in the early 90s, right?), Delerium, Sneaker Pimps, Portishead, Bjork, Darude, Sasha and Digweed, BT, Ferry Corsten, Aphex Twin, Orbital, The Crystal Method, Chemical Brothers, Merbow, Venetian Snares, Republica, ATB, Gabriel &Dresden... well, you get the idea, bla bla bla. I was "officially" a metalhead, so I also listened to a ton of industrial and EBM, but it's hard to admit you like non gothy genres of electronic music around rivetheads and black metal enthusiasts, so I kept my raver [&@%!] on the DL.
My current favorite is Oceanlab, Above and Beyond's vocal trance outfit, but they're totally a postmillenial band, so wouldn't really count here.

Re: Early 90s Rave Heads?
Oh snap, yeah, I had that one! Or rather, I had the "original" release... although I can't lie, I didn't get it until '98 or '99. I hadn't even heard of The Prodigy until Firestarter (what else?) but I remember finding that one while on Holiday in the UK and being all "Oh man, they had albums BEFORE Fat of the Land?"
Good times!
I can't believe nobody else gives a crap about early rave stuff.

I don't want any context for this video, EVER.

Re: Early 90s Rave Heads?
Someone mentioned Praga Khan? Yay for Belgian music!
Never really experienced the 90's myself, but I listen to a lot of 90's Trance and Techno. Pretty much all the artists Doros mentioned in his post. Including A&B/Oceanlab, they're music is so [&@%!] good.
It's a shame that Trance is turning into a [&@%!] genre lately, with Tiesto and Armin producing crappy pop songs instead of some proper Trance.
