Efficient Leveling Advice Please
Efficient Leveling Advice Please
I am going to make an all efficient character. I read over the wiki but it doesn't give too much help as far as making a custom class that would work well. What classes for efficient leveling(http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Efficient_Leveling) have you guys found work well for leveling all atributes. I am thinking of doing the +5/+5/+1 method. My character will be Imperial and I want to fight mostly with Warrior skills.
Try to only answer if you know what I am talking about.

I think i have the gist of what your talking about.
Create your imperial. If you want him all-rounder, put: Blade, Heavy or Light Armor, Sneak, Marksman, Conjuration, Destruction, Speechcraft. This way he will excell in all classes, while not being too unbalanced.
There is no best way to train. My advice would be to focus getting each skill 10 levels up at a time. For example: Level blade up 10 times, then H/L A, then Sneak etc...
That's how i did it, and i am now a complete beast of a character.
I lied, i have no clue. I'm sorry, but i hoped that helped.

I think you have to choose at least one skill to be your main one to get bonuses for that attribute. I get that so lets say for endurance I just dupe some pots and let the enemy wack my armor. The thing I dont get is how to incorporate major skills in it. I am looking for a vet at this, someone who has some experience maybe?lordvader178 wrote:I think i have the gist of what your talking about.

Depending on what major skills you level, the points you get for each attribute are determined. For example, hitting people in the eye with a sword will make you get points for strength and endurance, as will being beaten to death. Casting magic will net points in willpower and intelligence, while stabbing people in the back while they arent looking will net points in......the others i forget. Running will help level out agility. You will always get 1 point for luck, and usually 2+ for personality. It's simple really.
I know how it works, maybe if you click on the link on my 1st post in this topic you will see what I am askinglordvader178 wrote:Depending on what major skills you level, the points you get for each attribute are determined. Like others have said...im not too sure what your talkin bout
but...
this is what i think you mean + my thoughts
If you dont want to level fast...dont get a major skill which goes up fast ie...sneak alch...as then you will be higher then your skills are your enemies will be harder to kill
Dont take more then one melee and one ranged kill as a major...have 2+ of both to be honest is kinda useless...there are a few upsides to this but...in my opinion i wouldn't
Get skills that will level kinda evenly....ie armour...melee...school of magic...put more simply...get majors that you will use often
If you looking for a Warrior sorta class i would go with
Blade/Blunt
Heavy Armour
Armouer
Acrobatics/Athletics
Alteration
Marksman/destruction'
Block/other skool of magic
Hopefully this will help...if it doesn't relate at all with what you want im sorry

For a wounded man to say to his Assailant "If I Live, I Will Kill You. If I Die, You Are Forgiven" Such is the rule of Honor.

You don't really need to worry so much about custom classes to efficiently level, as long as you are at least semi-aware of which skills have increased during your level increase.
I tried efficient-ish levelling with my present character... I actually chose stuff for major skills that I WANTED my character to be good at, and focused on getting to 100 those related attributes first. Then, since I was still using the skills (with their attributes maxed), I just started practising more those things that I didn't use. Then it's just a matter of keeping track of how many times you levelled the skills for the remaining attributes, and levelling happens pretty regularly.
If you choose major skills that raise only three of your attributes, you don't need to worry too much about "wasting" those other increases from skills you're not using, although don't worry if here and there you've got a +2 or +3 that goes to waste. This jacks up your initially-used skills' attributes fast, and then gives you 30+ more levels to increase the rest (except luck).
A little tip though, get your Endurance to 100 as fast as possible. Maximum Health is dependent on it.

I'll try to help if I can.

Struck's advice is right on the money for what skills to take
As is the advice to get +5 to Endurance before anything else...each level.
You're basically going to be looking at getting +5 to Endurance, +5 to Strength, and +1 to Luck each level until you max them, ideally...
I'd recommend making a spreadsheet graph, and keep it handy as you play...then mark off the advancements you get, so you aren't surprised...
Then, when you are 5 major skill points away from the 10 you need to level, and you have at least 10 total advancements in each attribute's related skills that you want to raise (i.e. 10 total for Heavy Armor, Armorer, Block / 10 total for Blunt, Blade, Hand to Hand, which will include 5 points for training), PAY FOR 5 TRAINING SESSIONS in either Blunt or Blade (as they are the hardest to raise, whichever one you use more). Technically, there are more swords in the game, and most of the best weapons are one-hand swords (which also allow the use of a shield).
Don't give up those available training sessions each level, and you can use these to control precisely when you reach a level.
It involves a lot of tracking to avoid wasting points, but if that's your bag...this is how to do it...
Also, when training any magic skills, do all the Mage Recommendation quests, and get access to the Academy as soon as possible. Then, make a custom spell for each school at the absolute lowest level of magnitude and magicka cost, and using target self. You can then cast these repeatedly to train these skills, and almost never run out of Magicka when doing so. You can completely control these advances this way.

This is untrue, and while it's common advice to get one major related to each attribute, it's actually unnecessary (and, imho, usually not the best approach).Chrodar wrote:I think you have to choose at least one skill to be your main one to get bonuses for that attribute.
It is good advice though not to get all 3 skills related to a single stat as a major, because then the only way you'll get a +5 boost to that attribute is if you don't get a skill gain in any other major skill for the whole level (since you'd need 10 skill increases in those 3 skills, and they're all majors). So if you want +5 endurance each time, you cannot get armorer, heavy armor, and block all together as major skills unless you don't plan to level your other major skills at all.
you made things a lot more clear, thanksCaldyn_Blade wrote:Struck's advice is right on the money for what skills to take![]()

You're welcome...
I alternate between being A-R about it, and then just playing the game. So occassionally, I don't always get my 5/5/1 or 5/5/5, but it isn't for lack of knowing HOW to do it...hehe...just my commitment to the tracking.
It isn't the end of the world if you mess up and don't always get it...when all is said and done, it's a game, so having fun is more important....

You know what I just found out? Well if you efficient level your already not playing the game the way it was meant to be played so why not take the route I will propose? Just play the game for fun and if you want you can max out your skills, but don't worry about attributes. Just acquire an enchanting alter and dupe some grand soul gems with grand souls, then dupe some apparel items. Now which attribute do you want done? Lets go with speed for an example. You want to get it to 255 for max speed. So enchant your apparel item with fortify speed. Now dupe your enchanted item, you should have 2 now. Put 1 on and try to dupe the one which is not equiped. The game will unequip your other and will not dupe anything, but, it ripped the item off of you but not it's enchantment. So theoretically you could continuously do this as long as each item is called something other than your firsts. So I thought just play the game, and if you want max skills, then do this, it can be further explained here-http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Glitc ... ated_Items
Now guys, give me some cool
ideas of effects.

Of course, I totally forgot that Bethesda wanted you to dupe, not that it was a glitch, no, they wanted you to dupe! It makes perfect sense!
For once, I don't have a signature.
