'Politics' is the least amusing concept ever invented by man. Putting cigarettes out on my eyes is at least seven times more interesting.

You obviously have never seen Sarah Palin, politics has officially become funny.

Re: 'Reversing the Vietnam Verdict'
She starred in a movie, right? Actually, that doesn't make much sense. In fact, I don't think that was the real Obama either.

Re: 'Reversing the Vietnam Verdict'
Palin is such a caricature that an actual caricature looks like the real Palin.

I've seen it, it's dead on. I want to meet her and see if she thinks it's a mirror, or five

Re: 'Reversing the Vietnam Verdict'
There's video of her being asked about it and while you're watching it, you realize she doesn't understand that it's making fun of her.

Re: 'Reversing the Vietnam Verdict'
The reason for going in to Vietnam was to stop communism, if that's not a good reason I don't know what is considering how many monsters that political system created.
Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, all terrible men who killed in the name of the "revolution" I bet you think Che Guevera was also some man of the people as well? We did some bad things in Vietnam sure, but guess what, that's war.
Even in WWII, arguably the most just war that was ever to be fought, both sides had their mistakes and evils, just that the allies was in the form of the USSR. Th Great Purges ever ring a bell, those killed more than Hitler's camps ever saw. Mao's several programs killed close to a few million as well, and this is taking out the mass starvation the numb-nuts caused.
There's a reason this system died out with the Soviets and Zedong, because it doesn't work and no one wanted it to work. That's why were here discussing what happened, not what is.
China has become capitalist at least in business which is pretty much the core of these two systems.
And Vietnam was horrible as was many wars, but be grateful we had the left and many activists holding us back, if we went in there with a total military and practical mindset any person who so much as looked at an American Marine or Soldier would've been shot, similar to the Nazis. And last I checked the Soviets and their own Vietnam wasn't too friendly either, land mines in the guise of toys, a personal favorite of the Russians.
People like to forget how forgiving a military power like the US actually is when in practice and theory devoid of morality it has no need to be, we could've bombed the N.V.A to the stone age with only one bomb, but we didn't. We could've actually crossed Laos and Cambodia and Norht Vietnam and take the fight straight to them, but we didn't.
We went into that war with both arms tied behind our backs. And yes I'm not so stupid to realise the South barely wanted the war anyway, when the final stand for Saigon came, they fled rather than fought.
We didn't lose Vietnam because the N.V.A beat us, we didn't commit the atrocities we did because we were blood thristy, We did all these because we were alone in a foreign land. Had the South actually gave a [&@%!] about Democracy they would have fought with us, the Vietcong would not have existed and these atrocities would not have
happened.
A gun makes killing easier when all you have to do is pull. With the enemy being every where and any one, all it would take is one wrong move to startle a platoon of scared young and sometimes un-willing soldiers.

Re: 'Reversing the Vietnam Verdict'
You think that going to war to stop an ideology from spreading into a country is justified? And then trying to seed your own ways? That's imperialism. Yes, it's terrible that all of those purges happened but you can't blame it on the ideology.
