The Silver-Tongue Inn: A TES RP

Post by Relics »

The Silver-Tongue Inn

The year is 4E 203, Skyrim is still plunged in chaos with dragons roaming about, the civil war still locked in a stalemate, the companions, thieves guild, and Dark Brotherhood are still down on their luck, and everybody still hates the Thalmor. With all the Jarls tied up in politics and war, bandits and other degenerates have run rampant and making travel very difficult. With so much lawlessness and the Jarls spread thin as it is, people have heard whispers and rumors of a certain inn, an inn in which adventurers,sell-swords, pickpockets, thieves, cutthroats, and everything in between gather, and if the coin is good enough, will fulfill any contract. The name of that particular Inn is the Silver-Tongue Inn.

Located in the Rift between Fort Greenwall and Shor's Stone, the Silver-Tongue Inn had humble beginnings, owned and operated by the Silver-Tongues for generations, the Inn was a haven for the Thieves Guild during their glory years, often serving as a safe house for the thieves if a job had gone wrong or they needed to lay low for a bit, while serving their patrons from nearby Shor's Stone and Fort Greenwall. However, like everybody else, the Inn fell on hard times as the mine has been temporarily closed due to an infestation and the civil war. But the clever Geoffry Silver-Tongue, current proprietor of the Inn, had an idea; he began to collect every contract, legal and illegal, he could and posted them in the Inn in hopes to attract more customers, because fulfilled contracts means coin, and coin means business. At first only a handful of adventurers and sell-swords passed through and took up the contracts, with Geoffry offering any helpful tips and information from his network of contacts that he has built over the years from his ties with the Thieves Guild, but as the contracts began to be completed, and word of the Inn's rather high rate of success on the contracts began to spread. Soon after that, the Silver-Tongue Inn became the most infamous Inn in all of Skyrim, and perhaps all of Tamriel.

So, are you ready for tales of riches, revelry, and adventure?

This RP will be revolved around various contracts as well as character interaction when players are at the Inn before and after contracts. I have a few ideas for contracts that will involve large parties, as well as individual and small team contracts.

Character Sheet:

Name:
Race:
Gender:
Age:
Physical Attributes:
Personality:
Background:
Major Skills (1):
Minor Skills (3):
Equipment: (I'm limiting this to low-level gear for the beginning of the RP, better equipment will become available as you fulfill contracts.) Available Equipment types: Leather, Hide, Iron, Steel.

The Rules

1. No Ubering - You are not the Dovahkiin, you are just as squishy as everyone else, which means if you see a dragon, you would not stand and fight, you would scream like a little girl and run like hell. And if you are Ubering you will be kicked and your character shall die from an arrow to the knee.

2. No God-Modding - If I see that you are God-Modding without express consent of that particular player's consent, or mine, you shall die a very humiliating death and be kicked.

3. Proper grammar and spelling - If English is your second language I can understand, but if I see anyone typing lik3 th1s or shorten spellings like "u" instead of "you", they will be kicked and again die a horrible, horrible death.

4. No overtly explicit detail - Everybody loves detail, but if you write several paragraphs depicting how the blood gushed and splattered the landscape from a cut, or if you wrote several paragraphs about the details of passionate and rough love making, that's just over-kill, please just keep it classy and remember that sometimes it's best if left to the imagination. There will be a warning and then a kick as well as another humiliating death.

5. One Character per person - This is to ensure quality of character development and dialogue, as from my experience, maintaining one character in a RP is hard enough. I think we all know what will happen if you break the rule, so let's move on.

6. I reserve the right to kick anyone for any reason - Pretty standard, and I will hopefully never have to kick someone.

7. Have Fun! - Who would want to RP if it wasn't fun?!

Current Characters

1. User: Relics
Name: Harold Deep-Winter
Spoiler:
Name:Harold Deep-Winter

Race: Nord

Gender: Male

Age: 33

Physical Attributes: Harold stands at 6'3 and has a lean, athletic frame with jet black hair kept in a short ponytail. He keeps a short-trimmed beard and has grey stormy eyes that are a defining feature of the Deep-Winter clan. His nose is slightly crooked after a few broken noses from various brawls over the years as well as vertical scar that runs from his forehead down over his left eye and onto his cheek. He also has a large scar on his back.

Personality: Harold is a cheerful fellow who is known for his quick wit and retorts and loves to play jokes on people, he is easy going and enjoys arguments as he sees them as an exercise for keeping the mind sharp, he is a devout follower of the old ways and reveres Talos. However, this causes him to distrust "outsiders" and he has a seething hatred for the Altmer.

Background: Harold was grew-up in Windhelm, his family loyal to Jarl Ulfric and his Stormcloak Rebellion, his father and eldest brother died during the first skirmishes of the Rebellion and Harold put aside his dreams of becoming a bard and joined the Rebellion to die in glorious battle as his father and elder brother did before him. During the first few years of service, Harold distinguished himself with his tactical prowess as well as showing courage on the battlefield, what he lacked in skill, he made up with fierce determination and endurance. However, his days of soldiering were numbered, during a skirmish near Falkreath, Harold was severely wounded when a battleaxe struck his back. Left for dead, only a passing priest of Talos found him, barely alive, and nurtured him back to health. Bitter from what he saw as betrayal, Harold became a sell-sword and soon found himself at the Silver-Tongue Inn

After his mother's death he moved in with his uncle, an alchemist who lived in a small house in the wilderness of southern Skyrim. He learned to hunt, fight, and avoid detection in the years following. His uncle passed on knowledge of wild plants and their effects, and Faeric soon was able to make basic poisons and potions. When he was 19 his uncle was killed by a wolf while he was gathering alchemical ingredients from the wild. 6. User: Witchery
Name: J'skar
Spoiler:
Name: J'skar
Race: Khajiit
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Physical Attributes: A tall, husky Khajiit fellow with brown fur and long black hair. Muscular and intimidating, J'skar appears the generic bandit-type thug that you would find on streets. Despite his menacing appearance, he has intelligent, lively green eyes and as kind a face as a Khajiit can have.

Personality: A gentle giant -- he's fair, yet often times silent. J'skar looks the part of the brute, but he is a secret romantic -- poetry and cute animals are his friends. A worshiper of the Khajiiti pantheon, J'skar prays to Mara, Khenarthi, S'rendarr, and Alkosh. He's very devout and despises those who denounce the gods or worship Daedra, which are about the only things that will get him angry. . . that, and those who hurt women and children. A gentleman, truly. It's rather easy to hurt his feelings, and besides his outward looks, he's a big softie.

Background: J'skar was actually raised in a traveling group of bandits, the [&@%!] son of a Khajiit archer. She was indifferent to him after he was born, and he was more or less raised by the group as a whole. Two bandits took a particular liking to the little Khajiit -- a Bosmer woman, a mage, and her lover, an Orc. His birth mother was killed during a failed raid on a caravan of merchants, but he, too was indifferent to her fate. In fact, he began to look at Moth and Thaeril as his parents, and for bandits who stole from innocents, they were pretty good with him. The group didn't dwindle, settling in the Rift at an abandoned Imperial fort. He was raised to be one of them, and learned his skills from Moth, or as he had taken to calling him, 'father.' When J'skar was seventeen, the fort was raided by a rivaling group of bandits, and Moth was killed, along with the rest of the band. However, Thaeril managed to escape with him, and they traveled to Riften. She died when he was at age twenty-four, succumbing to a disease. They had lived as beggars, and fit in well with the other vagrants -- many were former cutthroats like Thaeril. When she died, tired of living in Beggar's Row, J'skar sold his arm as a sellsword and took any job he could get. After completing many jobs near Riften, he decided to venture out, and his travels have brought him to the Inn.

Major Skills (1): Two-handed
Minor Skills (3): Heavy armor, Smithing, Archery
Equipment: Iron armor, iron boots, iron gauntlets, iron warhammer
7. User: Gideon Dragontongue
Name: Qatar Zainab
Spoiler:
Name: Qatar Zainab

Race: Dunmer

Gender: Male

Age: 25

Physical Attributes: Qatar is a dark, brooding Dunmer, something of a hearthrob. His eyes are vivid scarlet, his hair deep brown and worn pulled back in a ponytail and tied with a blue ribbon. He maintains a crisp, well-groomed beard, which is carefully curled.

Personality: As an assassin, Qatar is ruthless and cold when on a contract. As a person, he could never be considered empathetic, but he takes a wholly different approach to social interaction. He is highly intelligent, preferring to think through everything before he does it. He enjoys cultivating an air of mystery, avoiding revealing personal details and his background to all but a select few.

Background: Prior to the destruction of Vvardenfell, Qatar had been trained as an assassin within the Morag Tong. After the guild's disbandment, he headed west, into Skyrim, taking work as a mercenary, and occasionally butting heads against the Dark Brotherhood. He spent much of his time in the wilderness, learning the skills common to rangers and thieves alike. Hearing news of a place ripe with the promise of septims, he journeyed to the Silver-Blood Inn, prepared for whatever the world might have in store for him.

Major Skill: One-Handed

Minor Skills: Archery, Illusion, Sneak

Equipment: Leather Boots, Leather Bracers, Novice Hood, Novice Robes, Steel Bolts (25), Steel Crossbow, Steel Daggers (2)
8. User: Deimos

Gender: Male
Age: 20
Physical Attributes: Average height for a Nord man, with an athletic/muscular build. He has dark blue eyes, cropped black hair, and rough but trimmed facial hair.
Personality: Joric is a straightforward and honest man, but unnecessarily sarcastic at times. He prefers to avoid emotions as much as possible, and avoids conversations with others with an emotional subject. He hates the Thalmor and dislikes the Imperial Legion. He worships Talos in whatever way he can.
Background: Joric was born in Whiterun, both parents being companions. His father had spent most of his life as a companion, but was a Stormcloak as of 4E201. His mother joined the companions just a year before Joric was born. He was raised to be an honorable man, and told to be the same in combat. He and his parents were strong worshipers of Talos but didn't let anyone know. Joric joined the Stormcloaks at the age of 18, but recently stopped fighting, becoming a Mercenary.
Major Skills : Dual wielding
Minor Skills: Archery, light armor, hand to hand
Equipment:
Steel armor, Black hood
Steel sword, Iron sword

9. User: Ilikeskooma
Name: Volanare
Spoiler:
Name:Volanare
Race: Altmer (Oh god this is guy is going to be hated, but someone had to be a high elf!)
Gender: Male
Age: 62
Physical Attributes: Volanare is a slim old guy, looks like he'll brake like a trig compared to warriors. Like most elves, his silver hair is brought back, but only ending at the top his neck. He has a eagle like nose, yellow eyes and thin lips, pretty much your average Altmer.
Personality: Volanare is a bit smug and gets bored pretty easily, often finding something to fiddle with in his hands. He's also rather bipolar as some would call him, sometimes being a happy old man, sometimes being a mean grumpy old man, depends on his mood.
Background: Volanare started his life adventure in the collage of winter hold, studied by the book. However it didn't take to long for Volanare to get bored of "picking ingredients" and "hunting for rare old books." However, Volanare knew the collage was the only way to study and learn the arcane arts so he stayed. However many years later, when Volanare was out picking flowers for the collage, he discovered the silver tongue inn. At first he was a bit miffed by the place, but soon found it'd finally be something worth while to do, and become no longer bored.
Major Skills (1): Alteration
Minor Skills (3): Restoration, conjuration, destruction.
Equipment: Staff of minor lightning, novice robes of Alteration. novice hood.

Sure, and the RP will be based on contracts that can be accepted by anyone, at anytime. The contracts will range from Clearing out Bandit camps to Heist Jobs to even a few assassination contracts! And who knows, maybe you will run into one of the Guilds while you're out and about! And yes you all can reserve a spot.

Background: Faeric's father was killed in The Great War before he was born, and his mother died when he was 10 years old. Faeric then left his late uncle's house and travelled around Tamriel, making money in whatever way he could, honest or illegal. Nearly 10 years later, his travels have brought him to the Silver-Tongue Inn.
Major Skills: Archery
Minor Skills: One-Handed, Alchemy, Sneak.
Equipment: Leather Armour (without helmet) with clothing underneath, imperial bow, iron arrows, iron sword, and a dagger.
"The most important tool in the thieves' repertoire is distraction, either planned or improvised." - Purloined Shadows.

Hey all! Sorry for the absence, I had work today, feel free to reserve spots, the more the merrier, just try to make sure you spend time developing your character! I'm thinking about starting the RP either Saturday night or Sunday night, it depends on what time I get off work tomorrow.

If mage's equipment and crossbows aren't allowed, I'll be happy to change it.

Spoiler:
This role-play needs a old dude! :Twisted Evil:
(can change if you want. :) )

Spoiler:
Now
-------------------------------------
Geoffry glanced around the rather crowded tavern and couldn't help but to grin, I can't believe this plan actually worked, Geoffry thought to himself as he cleaned a chipped mugged. Behind the counter, where Geoffry stood, laid a stack of parchments, all of which had various seals of the Jarls and prominent families from all across Skyrim. These parchments were the sole reason why many of the tavern's patrons were doing business with the tavern, spending their coin while they waited on Geoffry and the contracts that he held.

"Alright everyone, gather around, I know why you're all here" Geoffry yelled hoarsely as he started laying down the contracts on the counter. "We've received an abundance of contracts lately; Jarl Igmund is experiencing a food shortages due to increased Forsworn raids on Salvius Farm, according to reports, the Forsworn seem to be dug in at Dead Crone Rock. The reward for this deed is quite the prize at 5,000 septims." Geoffry delicately laid the thick parchment on the counter in front of the patrons and proceeded on to the next contract. "The next contract is from the College of Winterhold, they have recently acquired the Bloodworm Helm and are hiring protection for the transport of the Helm from Solitude to Winterhold, they are worried about renegade mage and renegade battlemage attacks. They are offering 8,000 septims for its safe arrival." Geoffry could feel the buzz of excitement as he laid the contract next to the first one, many of these mercenaries have never seen more than hundreds of septims at once before, let alone thousands. "And the last contract is for those who are not afraid of doing some dirty work. Jarl Skald was recently robbed of his father's sword, Wrath as well a considerable amount of gold and silver ingots from the treasury, by the infamous pirate Safia and her crew, they are believed to be docked in Windhelm. Jarl Skald is offering a 3,000 septim reward for the return of Wrath, as well as an additional 6,000 septims for the assassination of Safia." Geoffry smiled to himself as he laid down the third contract on the counter, she must have broke his heart as well.

"Three contracts ladies and gentleman, best of luck to you all." Geoffry stepped away from the counter and returned to cleaning his already clean mug.

Sebastian instantly got up and grabbed the Winterhold College parchment. This was exactly the kind of job he needed, and it would do him some good to see the College again.
