I don't see any reason he would be wielding Goldbrand to attend the funeral of a family member. Probably for the same reason he's not wearing his Imperial Dragon Armor (remember all Emperors inherit a set). He'd simply have no reason to be carrying around fighting equipment, especially expensive and rare equipment, on a non-military trip. He's on a boat full of bodyguards, and he's resigned to his death.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.
I always thought that, for me, the Sword of the Crusader was a better overall weapon. It was lighter, did more fire-damage, as well as attacked the enemy's magicka. My character was always a good-guy by the point I got it, so it worked out for me.
I wonder if they'll have a similar weapon w/ the DLC.
Yaije wrote:in short... NPC's don't run around like players wearing the best armor they have all the time.
Right. Especially nobles like the Emperor of Tamriel.
There's a trope for what the main characters in these games usually do. While some TES players keep a set of normal town clothes on them for RP purposes, the majority of us will be running around in full Daedric or Glass night and day at high levels, even to sleep.
It can be assumed and observed that other NPCs, even soldiers, simply don't always do that in these games. In Mede's case in particular he's constantly surrounded by elite Penitus Oculatus agents fully armed and armored, so it would be redundant and silly for him to be wearing Imperial Dragon armor or wielding a Daedric katana. Hell, even some of the Jarls in Skyrim don't have a weapon on their bodies, even though one or two handed is almost always one of their primary skills in the creation kit. Melee combat just doesn't come up during their day job.

I think my breton assassin archer that I did the dark brotherhood and thiefs guild with would be perfect for the vampire side. I always thought she would make a perfect vampire because of her look, combat style, and personality but never turned her into one due to the current vampire system being kinda meh but thankfully it has been upgraded allot. I think I might use my dark elf spell sword who is a former wearwolf for the lycan side.
SajuukKhar with these stats every enemy is boring (exeption would be an enemy that ignores all resist and absorbstats), I doubt they will make an enemey that is interesting for such characters (because no "normal" character could kill them).

If Bethesda had no plans to make level 81 monsters.... they shouldn't have let you get to level 81.
They have done this in every game and gets more annoying every time, they let you get to high levels but dont provide content for an arbitrarily low level, in this case 50.
My character was level 60+ before finishing all the quests.
So where is my dream? It is the continuation of reality. But where is my reality? It is at the end of your dream.

My character
-level 81
-400 hp
-350 Magicka
-350 Stamina
-80% damage resistance
-80% spell absorption chance
-45% constant magicka resistance
finds most enemies.... boring.
Need MOAR challenging enemies. Legendary Dragons better be uber strong.
You failed to mention those stats when we were talking about magic duels Yes, at max level and with resistance to everything the game is boring as hell.Sadly, after watching the DB kill the dragon in the Soul Carin I say dawnguard will be the continuation of the*WACK*WACK*DEAD* -fest.
Edited because "auto-correct" is not my friend.

ugh....... Bethesda really needs to push the high level monster cap to 60, right now its stuck at like.... 30ish for draugr.
it is probably the worst part of the vanilla game "ohh yeah we put in a soft level cap at 50 but aren't gonna provide monster content for past level 30"
they showed higher level Draugr in the gamejam video, it should be in the dawnguard DLC, as well as higher level Falmer.

Well, they will add new more "challenging" Draugrs in Dawnguard but that still leaves us with a lot of problems.
Say you choose to become a Volkihar Lord. After you finish the plotline you will be a unstoppable badass that has major bonuses to skills and resistances ,new weapons,a summonable epic mount, new shouts and no fear of sunlight.
^Thats just wrong...
Edit:If they take out the fire weakness as well the challenge level will hit rock bottom and possibly go under like the Volkihar themselves.
Like I said they could implement a few enemies who ignore all armor , magic resistance and magic absorb and they would blast you away easily. The problem here is that the leveled NPC curve is not adaptive to the players stats/skills (depending on what you did with your character enemies are either really hard or rather weak, they should analize your weapon damage, magic level(owned spells), stats and skills and calculate the right strength of the enemies!). But I doubt anybody would want back the Oblivion MEGA Goblins^^.

The simplest way to make the game more challenging is to toss around some of Faust's elixirs and make npc do more damage.
Crepe the Ashlander wrote:Mega Goblins? What are these mega goblins that I have never heard about?
Goblin Warlords at higher levels in Oblivion had massive health and stamina and were usually armed with Dwarven maces and shields. They were some of the tougher battles in the entire game.
Eltee wrote:Yeah, if I were Emperor, I'm pretty sure I'd be keeping a dagger on my belt, for when my mock praetorians get rowdy.
Oddly enough, in the Greg Keyes Novels his ancestor Titus I was always armed, and was said to be a fearful warrior who could probably kill any threat before his guards even unsheathed their weapons. Titus II is described as a capable warrior and strategist in his youth as well.
Spoiler:
He's ready to die in Skyrim, though. He actually does have a sword in his cabinet or chest somewhere if I recall. It was an enchanted Glass sword in my playthrough. It just wasn't on his body.

With those states, you might only find the greybeards a fair fight... if they were armed <.<
Eh my "mage" doesn't expect a real challenge since he's effectively magic immune standing around naked (he sits in dragon fire to regen during the day). Grante mine isn't so blatantly OP as I can get taken out by a stray arrow (200 hp, 400 magicka and the rest in stam) I speciallize in the art of GTFO.
From what I've seen, most of those things will remain the same. I believe they're going to change the look a little bit (glowing eyes), and make it so that NPCs don't attack you at Stage 4, but beyond that and the new Stage 5, everything should stay nearly the same.
I was suddenly wondering. Is it possible to be a vampire but not a vampire lord or a vampire lord without being a vampire? Mostly how it interacts with normal vampirism.

Hmm.. well, I've heard that you have to be Vamp Lord for the Volikhar's side of the quest, but idk if that carries the requisite of being a reg. vampire as well...
