What's your favorite book series?
What's your favorite(or most read) book series? My favorite book series is Star Wars. I've read everything in between A New Hope and Star by Star(that's about 40 books).

The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan used to be my favorite series, but it's just taking too long to die. Right now it's probably the Demonwars Saga by R.A. Salvatore.

Net Force Explorers
Splinter Cell
Before Clancy, I just stated reading Steven king, for about a year, until "Hunt for Red October" then it was all Clancy all the time except for a few by Larry Bond
before King, you could get me to open a book to read, wasnt possible.

Bleach is a book series?
Thought it was a graphic novel... or manga... or something....
Anyway... with my overly biased opinion of what an interesting (and good) book is... paired with my hopeless love of classic cliches (so long as they're done tastefully and not polluting the book with them)... my favorite book series doesn't have a series name as far as I know... guess you could call it the Twilight series. First book is Twilight, then New Moon, then Eclipse, fourth and final book is yet to be released. Vampires + Romance = sweet.

While Peter Jackson added a good bit of the trilogy in the movies. It's not exactly the same, a lot I feel is different in the book series. Things that are left out, that I feel should have been in there for instance(spoiler) they meet a guy called Tom Bombadil, and this guy shows immunity to the one ring and is very powerful.(end spoiler)Blackhawk Vegal wrote:I ve yet to read thou, I want to, but not sure if i will since Ive seen the triology about 400-1000 timescodex wrote:LotR all the way

best books ever.
Honestly.
Yes, but there are more than three books. Anyway, I have those, and all the books JRR Tolkien made about Ea (the name of the planet which includes middle-earth). Let's see... There is also quite a few series by Tamora Pierce that I love. Finally, I've been reading the Manga Series Mahou Sensei Negima.

I don't really have a favorite 'series'. Harry Potter would definitely be near the top, but after completing a masterpiece of a series, she announces Dumbledore is gay. Not that I have a problem with that, just go back and read all the parts with Dumbledore slyly luring Harry to his office and having intimate conversations. That's just...you know.
Back to the point, however, I don't really have a favorite series, but I like anything from Dan Brown (which included a whopping four books). And I can't wait for Solomon's Temple (is that already out?).

Apart from 'real books' (big, with long words about 'stuff'); David Gemmell's Drenai saga - including Druss The Legend and Chronicles Of Druss - are the only fiction I've ever really read. Heroic-fantasy at its most inspiring, and moving, best.
And regarding everyone [elses] favourite? For me, LOTR is just weighty, plodding simplicity. There is no human bite or verve to the characters, compared to Gemmell's earthy anti-heroes; Tolkien seems more concerned with an iconic mythos and self-created culture, where Gemmell cared most about the characters, and an adventure.
It's all highly personal of course, and I am willfully narrow minded when it comes to fiction.
