Bethesda Patch Discussion - Console and PC
Re: Bethesda Patch Discussion - Console and PC
The mounted combat lets me kill wolves, that's all I needed.

If I recall, there IS a crosshair, and if there isn't, I obviously didn't notice it enough to complain about it.I EAT pain wrote:It's not even that great. Archery is impossible (No crosshairs) and it feels wonky. You can't do 360 spin turnaround for archery, and no magic/shouts. Sword play isn't even effective. It's better to get off your horse and kill them on foot, really.

Kinda like Mounted Combat on the legendary "Dynasty Warriors 3": It works, if you're geared for it, but it's always better to leap off and fight them on foot. It's a good thing that you're not automatically knocked-off your horse just being hit, too, in Skyrim.

You know, if there were spears or pikes in the game, they'd be most effective for Mounted Combat.
But alas, they had to go.

Really, the only times you'd use the mounted combat is when you need to kill wolfs...

Actually, I was taking the road from Falkreath to Helgen and it was incredibly annoying to have to dismount Shadowmere to deal with the couple of measly bandits at the tower camp.
Start the groove.

For the life of me I can't understand why I'm limited to a 180 degrees span with my bow and why I can't dual wield anything on horseback. It makes absolutely NO sense...

I don't like mounted combat at all. I ended up riding on top of a Dragon which threw me up in the air and then I died when horse hit the ground, just another reason not to buy a horse.

I like mounted combat, now that I got some practice in on how to go about it. VERY helpful against everything that isn't dragon/really fast. Hot-keying between bow/sword is the key for me.

I agree. It's great if used properly. The open plains of Whiterun hold are perfect. Any place with no running or turning room are terrible as it should be.Deiyn wrote:I like mounted combat, now that I got some practice in on how to go about it. Has the 1.6 patch been released officially yet or is it still only in beta?

I recieved a 200mb download when I started steam to play another game on monday. Out of curiosity, to see how bad it was, I played, bought a horse, and killed things while riding it... so I would say that it is out for PC, as of monday.

Re: Bethesda Patch Discussion - Console and PC
Dragonrend needs to be fixed, has been for some time. I hit a dragon with it who is over perfectly fine ground to land on. Intead it flys back up, takes a wide arc, then picks somewhere to land on that path. Just land already!

Re: Bethesda Patch Discussion - Console and PC
I stopped using Dragonrend after it stopped actually making dragons land. They would fly around for 30 seconds, looking for a place to land, and by the time they finally find one, the effects wear off and they keep flying. Just a waste of a shout.

Yeah, why isn't stuff like this getting fixed during patches? Walls still won't couch up words, esbern's potion still broken, my misceallaneous quest log is still choked with completed quests, dragon rend makes dragons fly around and not land.

Re: Bethesda Patch Discussion - Console and PC
Hell I'd settle for just fixing quests like Purity quest for Vilkas. However...there is a problem with wearing Saviour's Hide and Guantlets of the Old Gods that if it could get fixed would really please me...if it's not too much to ask I mean.Redguard_Master wrote:Yeah, why isn't stuff like this getting fixed during patches? Yeah it is weird, I don't remember the patches fixing any glitch I have actually experienced, except for the deflect arrows perk and a few misbehaving weapon displays.

Re: Bethesda Patch Discussion - Console and PC
There is an easy fix for the key mapping save issue on the pc. Simply right click your launcher shortcut and choose 'run as administrator' then start game, remap keys, save, exit game to desktop. When you next start game it will have saved changes permanently. Found via a google search on that very issue, remember google is your friend, along with these and other forums.

Re: Bethesda Patch Discussion - Console and PC
Thats why I wish I had a PC, so I could get the unofficial patches. Honestly, I'm kinda with H8ball on the fact that Bethesda doesn't give a crap about all the glitches that everyone gets. They ignore all the major ones, and "fix" glitches by making more glitches. The only patch I've gotten that has actually fixed anything was 1.4. After that, sure, my games lag was gone, but thats because it took all the textures and "optimized" them i.e., making them look like mud.Redguard_Master wrote:Yeah it is weird, I don't remember the patches fixing any glitch I have actually experienced, except for the deflect arrows perk and a few misbehaving weapon displays.

Re: Bethesda Patch Discussion - Console and PC
I dont ever get worstened gameplay or new glitches from patches. Must be something wrong with some peoples consoles. My xbox has only once encountered the backwards dragon glitch.
