It's probably simply because the dragon bone hafts of the weapons are heavier and thus they hit harder. A dragon bone in this game weighs more than an ebony ingot. FYI Daedric weapons are fused with the soul of Daedra according to the lore. In previous games they weren't craftable, and in Skyrim they went with a Daedra Heart. It might have made more sense lore-wise to require a soul gem with a Daedra's soul in it but perhaps a Daedra's heart contains his soul. They're immortal creatures after all. Maybe that heart keeps beating after it's been removed. There's a quest in Markarth where an Orc smith needs Daedra blood to cool a weapon for the Jarl, and asks for a Daedra Heart. If that thing's still producing blood after it's been removed there's something supernatural about it.Yaije wrote:I think that would entirely depend on some other factors than just what the material is called.Argonanza wrote:The engravings are regular Nordic.Gideon Dragontongue wrote: Well, it looks like they're keeping to the beaten iron look of the metal used in the armor, with glowing blues runes that might be words in the dragon language. The handles and supporting pieces look like they're made of dragonbone, while the actual cutting edges are metal.
And the Dragonbone weapons are supposed to be more powerful than Daedric. A steel edge with a bone hilt wouldn't make sense.
Daedric is from what I can tell Ebony and daedra parts? maybe a dremora's heart isn't as potent as dragon's bones?

It might not look like much, but bashing weapons like maces and warhammers are the best things dragonbone can be used for. It's all about the weight with those weapons, so a 50 lb. warhammer is going to do quite a large amount of damage.Argonanza wrote:Eh, the axe's pretty cool.Gideon Dragontongue wrote:That war axe looks incredibly lame, though. Re: Dawnguard.
My three top level characters are all gonna be a ton of fun in this expansion.
My Nord and Khajiit are the Dawnguard/good guy candidates. Nord guy uses twin axes so he's gonna have a ball with Dragon weapons, especially as a master Smith who can improve them. Khajiit is unarmed and is gonna choke slam vamps.
My Dunmer is gonna be full blown evil Vampire. He's a Daedric wearing Conjuration/Destruction battlemage. He's got a wicked streak as it is and being a Vampire Lord will suit him fine.

My Dunmer battlemage is perfect for this, as he's a master of fire spells. He may use sword and shield if some of the new items are cool enough.
I was initially worried that there wouldn't be any good heavy armors with the new expansion, but with this new info about the Dawnguard being experts with arms and armor forging, I don't think we'll have any trouble.

Exactly. The heavier the weapon, the more blunt force trauma is inflicted [trauma is a function of momentum(=mass times velocity) with these weapons.]Gideon Dragontongue wrote:It might not look like much, but bashing weapons like maces and warhammers are the best things dragonbone can be used for. Does anyone know if there is a female version of the Vampire Lords? I mean, it's one thing for the Werewolves to only have male figures, but I don't want my vampiress to look male. Just a small worry.

That doesn't really mean much. It could just be a repeat of the female werewolves.

Thank goodness this is the case. Not that I am returning to that lifestyle...but it wouldn't be fun to be a grotesque looking female vampire.
The dragonbone weapons sound great. Dragonborn---> dragonweapon= just right. I am eager to see what the new armour will look like, although I hope there is some light armour available. New spells too maybe?

Do npcs ALWAYS attack vampire lords and do vampires ALWAYS ignore them or is it like the werewolf transformation or do we even know yet?

Re: Dawnguard.
Normal vampires still attack you, I would assume because they are not of the same 'clan'. And I believe it's like werewolves, where people attack you when you are the Vampire Lord. But I am not sure how it being 'stage 5' works. Might be a hunger thing, so they could still attack you when you are human.

The female models are a little bit smaller than the male models. You really have to compare them side-by-side to tell. Which is exactly my point.Witchery wrote:There's a difference?Gideon Dragontongue wrote:That doesn't really mean much. It could just be a repeat of the female werewolves.

Anyone see if they included defense improvement for the werewolf? I saw the health/stamina increase, but couldn't tell if they included actual d/r upgrades.

Re: Dawnguard.
In regards to dragon bone weapons I wish it would have been more imaginative with the design and the way they looked. The axe inbthe image posted just looked similar to anything else we've seen. If there's going to be a song and dance and make them a key point make them distinctive. A war hammer where the hammer head is the skull of a dragon, an axe made fron the teeth, a great sword made from the spiny tail or even a dragon claw dagger. If unique looking weapons are good enough for the forswarn why not the dragon born?

I've seen leaked screen caps of the Werewolf skill tree, although not all of his skills.
The abilities I know of:
Totem of Terror: Werewolf Howl of Terror affects even higher level creatures
(bottom tree ability): Do 25% more damage as a Werewolf (I think there are stronger versions of this perk, as this branch of the tree seems to continue up the right hand side)
Animal Vigor: 100 bonus points to health and stamina in beast form
Gorging: feeding heals twice as much health
^This is a small fragment of the total tree which contains as many perks as any other tree.

Re: Dawnguard.
I realized that you access the werewolf perk tree separately from the regular skill tree, simply by opening the skills menu while in werewolf form.
Also, it occurred to me that your perk tree may empty every time you make a transformation, and so you grow more powerful as you feed more and you get more perks.

I really hope that doesn't happen. No going up against a boss without running around slaughtering NPC's first? What a pain.Gideon Dragontongue wrote:I realized that you access the werewolf perk tree separately from the regular skill tree, simply by opening the skills menu while in werewolf form.
