Got talculm powder on my feet by accident and they have made my flip flops squeak. Now when ever I walk around the house, the daft dog keeps attacking my feet, she seems to think that they are a squeaky toy.

I find it a bit odd that one of the most affectionate pets I had in my childhood was a Muscovy duck who disappeared for about a year before coming back home looking cleaner than she was when she first left. That was one crazy bird.

Dachshunds are very awesome dogs to own. They have such strong personalities and funny quirks.

Indeedy. They're great little dogs, and god dammit, they're so cute. So cute.

My in-laws have one. During the holidays once, she found herself torn between walking over to me or to a rawhide bone set on the floor for her. She took a look at me, then the bone. Then a look at me, then the bone again. Then she walked over to me. After I gave her a scratch and rub, she realized that there was no need for compromise. She walked away, grabbed the rawhide toy, then carried it back towards me so she could have the best of both worlds.

Ahh yes, Muscovy ducks. A neighbour's labrador found a way into our duck enclosure when I was a kid and was beaten and scratched into submission.

Those were some badass ducks.

My aunt's got a new puppy today, a Yorkshire Terrier (teacup) called Daisy, going to see her tonight will try to get some pictures up soon, no doubt I will e seeking a puppy myself shortly. Although have to go on record and say would love to get some Dward Mongeese, every time I go to Whipsnade Zoo, I have to drag myself away from their exhibit, such lively little critters.

Aaargh. I'm sitting with a somewhat hurt cat again. My cats are NOT fighty cats. But one of our new neighbour cats most definitely is. Since Hoshi's previous abscess, I check my kitties for scrapes, swelling, and anything else that might indicate that they're hurt on a daily basis. Today, I saw that Hoshi was licking her tail more than usual. So of course, I checked it, and sure enough, it was all swollen. Got husband to help me to clip the hair around the swelling, because I felt so terrible when I only saw she was hurt after so long last time. And there's a nasty little puncture there, haven't been able to see it too well since she got totally spooked. So I'm not sure if it's just a wound or if it's formed an abscess. Either way, I do need to clean it up with a peroxide solution, except our pharmacies close early on Saturdays. So now Hoshi's stuck till tomorrow. Luckily she doesn't seem to be in too much pain, she seems annoyed, but she's eating well and being herself, more or less. So I'm just keeping an eye on her.

Back from seeing my aunt's new puppy Daisy, such a pretty little dog, she fell asleep in my arms. Took loads of pictures once I find the connector for my phone and work out to post photos I will do so. Took our dogs to meet Daisy. Amy wasn't impressed but at least she wasn't snappish like she was with Poppy, got to the point where Amy would go to a about a foot away from Daisy. Lenin took one look and bolted to sit on top of the sofa, he is such a wuss 4 times Daisy's size and hiding from her, more he hid more Daisy wanted to see him. I'm searching for puppies at the moment, I'm so weak willed.

Yesterday, we figured out the horse we were leasing until she gives birth has a fatal respiratory infection, and will most likely abort the baby. Later yesterday we figured out the baby was already dead, so now we're in legal [&@%!] with the lady we got her from because she's a "horse dealer." Basically she buys horses and sells them like they're goddamn office supplies. And today, our dachshund went into respiratory arrest, and will probably die within the next few weeks. Otherwise we'll have to put her down.
So, yeah. It's been an interesting year for pets in my life.

That's extremely sad, Weasel. Two (three) pets dying within a few weeks of each other must be heartbreaking.

Update: Our Dachshund is doing fabulous (As far as I know, still in Europe), and in fact is moving around better than ever before. The horse is still sick, however she's better... But the baby is still probably dead, however we just want the sick horse gone.
So yeah, things are better, not as much stress on this trip as I would have thought.

Naturally the kitteh picture shut my brain down for 15 seconds...but I also love bearded dragons! They are the coolest animals. We used to have one as a class pet - Moe was his name - and I've really loved them ever since! Not my sort of pet but still awesome to see.
