i kill however i can whether that means decapitations or assasinations i kill, to me killing is a means to an end, so for that reason all my characters are incredibly well rounded and can kill dragon priests with the speed of a tank but the precision of an archer

Re: Your favorite playstyle
My main character is unfortunately a "completionist" character, with whom I joined basically every faction possible and did tons of side quests. All of his skills are in the average range, with a few (namely, Sneak, Archery, and Lockpicking) sticking out above the rest. My main strategy is the above-mentioned "sneak and shoot" technique, where I'll shoot, run away and wait for the sneak "eye" to close, then go back and shoot again, and repeat until the target is dead (I mostly do this with high-leveled bandits). It's tedious, but worth it because my Sneak is now level 94. If I get detected, I'll just go in and bash them to death with my Mace of Molag Bal.
Start the groove.

Re: Your favorite playstyle
I prefer to be a Spellsword-Assassin type - combining magic, stealth, and one-handed combat skills to off anyone and anything. I tend to specialize in Destruction magic, dabbling in illusion and conjuration, along with light armor and one-handed enchanted sword.
There's not a whole lot that can stand up to that lethal combination. If you survive the long-range magic I throw at you, my sword makes sure you don't draw another breath.
I've tried playing pure mage, but I never got the hang of wards or the oakflesh/stoneflesh stuff, so a spellsword is the best of both worlds for me.

Re: Your favorite playstyle
I always come back to magick. I just think it takes much more creativity to use it...and the bow. I like the bow. And definitely stealth. I like mages for their arrogance and power, and assassins/sneaky characters for their ability to take everyone out without being seen. My assassin is also an illusionist, which has been tricky for me to use because I had to get used to defending myself with a dagger instead of a fireball.

My favorite class is the Pyromancer:
Destruction (Fire spells only of course)
Alteration
Alchemy
Light Armor
One-Handed (preferably swords)
Whatever problems that cant be solved with Alchemy, are taken care of with a fireball to the face or a stab in the spinal column (Those new melee kill-cams are brutal

Re: Your favorite playstyle
Spellswordish, I enjoy close combat immensely but I gotta have my magic in there. In previous TES games I've gone Sword/Destruction/Light Armor but Block was done so freakin well in Skyrim that I dropped Destruction to carry a shield around. I've been gravitating towards more crowd control with Illusion spells, Turn Undead, and high level alteration. Also a little mid level conjuration doesn't hurt. Basically anything I can "set and forget" and get back to bashing people in the face.
I don't even touch the defensive side of the block perk tree anymore. Just pure bashing and slashing. Quick, high melee damage output with a lot of stagger, and enough crowd control magic where I rarely get touched.

Re: Your favorite playstyle
I am currently playing a game on expert, I've put a few huge limitations on myself...
No followers
100% Magicka (I won't put points into health or stamina)
No armour, even boots and gloves.
It's really fun because whenever I get too close to a spider, I'm dead, but if I play it right I can kill a whole fort of bandits with ease.
I specialize in Conjuration and Destruction but also use Enchanting, Alteration, and Restoration.
Something really funny happened to me just a bit ago.. I was just about to be killed by some bandits after wandering into their fort, and three thalmor run up and kill them all, saving me in the process. (Then I pulled my little scheme, the one I always pull when a group is walking together. I distracted one Thalmor long enough for the other two to get out of sight and killed her. I did the same with the other two.)

An imperial spellsword/battlemage type build, I love being a warrior, but I like using some magic on the side.
Skills: One-handed, heavy armor, block, speech, lockpicking, smithing, enchanting, destruction, restoration, and alteraction.

Thief/assassin. So fun sneaking around and assassinating enemies before they even know I'm there. I use archery and sneak as my main combat stats.Along with pickpocket. One handed, light armor, alchemy, enchanting and smithing secondary skills.

Re: Your favorite playstyle
I'm a mage, I always have been. The first character I ever created in a ES game was a Breton mage. This Breton mage is the first character I create in any ES game, same name and everything.
I don't know why I enjoy it so much, I have, of course, played the other playstyles -- the most recent being a Nord warrior who focused on two-handed -- but there's just something about it, I always eventually get bored playing a warrior -- it seems too easy, if you ask me. The same seems to be true with a stealth-based character.
As Farengar says: "There's a tranquility in magic, don't you think? It is simply energy to be harnessed by those with the knowledge and will to do so."

THE MAGE - Prefering to use their extensive knowledge of all things magical, they wield a might more powerful than the sharpest blade.

My favorite way to play Skyrim is the first way I did. Sword and Board Warrior who specializes in Restoration and Illusion Magic. Use Invisibility+Muffle to sneak up on an enemy and open up a fight with a close range sneak attack, if there's a lot of enemies then dual cast pacify and pick them off one at a time. So much fun, though there isn't much room archery so Dragon fights are exceedingly tedious. :/

Re: Your favorite playstyle
I've played 4 level 40-50 characters now - A sneak/archery/one-handed/block/light armor assassin, a 2 handed/block/heavy armor warrior, an unarmed/destruction/heavy armor monk/mage, and now a illusion/destruction/unarmored/sneak mage.
I think the least satisfying of the four was the 2 hander heavy armored, and my favorite is my current mage with illusion powers, though my next character when Dawngaurd comes out will most likely be another sneak thief archer.
There's just nothing like sneaking while invisible through an entire hostile camp till you find the boss and d/c cast frenzy on them, watching how many regulars one of the bosses can take out
And it's nice when you get cornered to be able to cast AOE pacify and have everyone wait for you to catch your breath. Then of course move to a safe position and cast frenzy on the lot, watching the self-digestion that ensues

Re: Your favorite playstyle
I play as a nimble warrior that hits as much as he can, then run away to regenerate health. Thanks to my very stamina based perks/point allocations/apperal I can sprint up, slice and stab, turn around, and go to other way. The only time I use magic is when I use the healing spells, really. I sometimes use other spells, but rarely. I also like to play with staffs, as they are effective long range weapons when I don't feeling like using my staggering- inducing bow that sets people on fire. I like to smith, but not enchant, enchanting is too 'blah' for me, so I just stick to making my gear better and better, and I use light armour and one handed weapons, but I usually have a mace in one hand and a sword in the other. The only time I'm not dual wielding is when I have a bow, or using the healing spells. Other than that, I'm always swinging around with two swords... Or shooting two staffs...

Illusionist/Thief-Assassin is the character build I use most, probably because it's a build that let's you complete every part of the game with a single character if you so choose. Thanks to the Phenderix magic mod, illusion is a school of magic that's actually worth bothering with now.

I was surprised by the number of Assassins
I am a major assassin, but of course I use all crafting, sneaking up on enemies with an arrow or sharp object.
I pull out a sword with a dagger in my off-hand whenever I run into trouble.

Re: Your favorite playstyle
I changed my vote from assassin to mage. It's just that I noticed I have had most fun when playing as my mage. It's such an improvement from Oblivion where I found magic underpowered and tedious.
I did have to increase the difficulty since he was being too effective but what I like about magic is that it requires you to pay attention and plan some sort of strategy with different spells since different opponents have different weaknesses. Sometimes when I'm feeling lazy and not doing this properly, he still gets his butt handed to him. As a warrior you just smash away which I find a bit boring.
I still love my sneaky characters but there's some certain... magic about a magic user (lol). He was my second character but is over 10 levels higher than my first assassin type of character =P. I also just recently created a sneaky illusion-mage and so far it has been really fun and challenging.
