3rd of Hearthfire: Tales and Tallows - A celebration of Necromancy. Many citizens fear this day, and avoid the streets.
6th of Hearthfire: Khurat is celebrated in the Wrothgarian Mountains
12th of Hearthfire: Riglametha held in Lainlyn.
19th of Hearthfire: Children's Day celebrated in Betony.
I miss having dates in game that matter. Having to meet some one for a quest or have an event happen on a particular day.
Would be good if the calendar was used more. Now I hardly care about the months and years.
I used to know the days and months in ES lore. Now it has either been pushed out of my memory by other info or it's still in there, just buried under new info. Ahhh, the good old days.

I would hate that personally, it turn the game into a "spam wait until you reach the right day" simulator.
So where is my dream? It is the continuation of reality. But where is my reality? It is at the end of your dream.

As a Daggerfall player when I hear about Hearth Fire the first things that come to mind are :
The year 2920 of the first era
A month in the calendar
Fall
Magic(a lot of magic oriented holidays take place in HF the most important being Tales and Tallows)
High Rock[because all of the holidays (except one) that take place in that month belong to High Rock)

With all this in mind I'd say that this DLC will be set in High Rock(but evidently not all of it) and it will be more magically and politically oriented then Dawnguard. If this will be the case then they will probably explore the Thalmor interest in that providence and the political state of the empire.

or

It may be similar to Point Lookout and it will be based on "time travel".

I think we can say with 99.99% confidence that Hearthfire will be the title of the next Skyrim DLC, and that we'll learn more about it within a 3 month period. Other than that, we''ve ot nothing to speculate on and the name itself isn't revealing any secrets. What's more, Dawnguard didn't give away too much of an indication as to the subject matter of the Dawnguard DLC when all we had was the name a few months back, so there's not a lot of point racking our brains to try and decipher this now as opposed to a little down the track, IMO.

Well, I think someone pointed out before that one of the special events during the month of Hearthfire is some sort of rites practiced on the 1st by the Psijic Order. And with the Psijics' minor appearance in Skyrim, a DLC called Hearthfire could relate to them.
Start the groove.

Naming a DLC after a calender month could literally make it about a dozen different things in TES. We have absolutely nothing to base speculation on right now, not even a screen shot.

One of the other few things that is somehow involved with the Phrase "Hearth Fire" is http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Clothing_Artifacts (the first one).
Although here it is Hearthfire.

I doubt it. If you'll notice all the Dagoth artifacts have the word Heart in them. It's a reference to the Heart of Lorkhan. Hearth Fire is a month. Non related. Just very superficially similar.

Wasn't Hearthfire/Hearth Fire typoed as Heart Fire several times in lore references in the past? It might be that Bethesda is just trying to put some of the long-standing inconsistencies to bed. Perhaps we'll see a future resolution to the Summurset/Summerset thing.

If this is the case, it just might be possible that Bethesda is planning a deeply lore-intensive expansion, and they simply want to remove some bumps in the road before paving it.

There's a lot of confusion over that, but as of Skyrim the official name seems to be Heart Fire, though it still appears as Hearthfire/Hearth Fire in a few books. It's understandable that the month names might change over time, just like Thursday was originally Thor's Day, Friday was originally Freya's Day, etc.

For that matter, they might call it Heart Fire in Skyrim and Hearthfire elsewhere in Tamriel. Hard to say.

Of course,I do agree with you both but I think the name alone is sufficient to get an idea of what it will be about. In Dawnguard's case the possibilities were much more varied then with Hearth Fire because "Dawnguard" was something that we never heard before.

Hearth Fire is a different thing altogether. We know it's a month in the TES calendar and we also know it's holidays.Seeing as the most important holiday in that month is Tales and Tallows I'd say it's magic related and with Dawnguard most likely being set in the western part of Morrowind (from an unconfirmed leak mind you) I'd say this will be set in the eastern part of High Rock.

Another thing that might be possible is that it will be a overhaul of a flora/fauna/environmental nature(no pun intended) adding sessons and a more lifelike wildlife mechanic.Hearth Fire being the first month of fall makes me think of the foliage/sesson they were playing with in their GJ session.

The most likely answer for what this DLC will be about is probably the simplest and most straight forward of them all because the title almost always says what the content will be about ex.Morrowind,Daggerfall,Shivering Isles,Skyrim,Tribunal,Knights of The Nine,Point Lookout,Operation: Anchorage etc.

The whole point of this thread is to speculate what it will be about and what's more fun then betting on something when you have nothing to lose? :)

I agree that seasons could very well be integrated, but I doubt that will be the main focus of the DLC. I could see werebears being introduced here as well.

I think this hits the nail on the head. Since the Mages Guild questline kinda "ends" without any fulfilling conclusion (unlike Thieves Guild) there is plenty of room for expansion. Afterall, the dudes from the Psijic Order just poof with the Eye of Magnus. Furthermore, the Rites of Moawita (performed the 2nd of Hearthfire) lack much lore background. Perfect for expansion. The Psijic Order orginates from Summerset Isles, two islands located southwest of Tamriel, west of Valenwood. This area hasn't been explored in the past by a TES game, is based on an island (similar to Shivering Isles and Bloodmoon), and is full of rich history, so it makes for the perfect setting. It is even mentioned by Galmar Stone-Fist after a Stormcloak victory in Skyrim that an invasion of the Summerset Isle is in the distant future for the Nords (again, perfect for expansion). You could be given the choice of joining with the Stormcloaks (possible renamed something else, perfect for the warrior characters) and taking over the Isles, or play as a Mage defending the Isles and the newly returned Eye of Magnus, for the Magic based Characters). It's hard to speculate what will happen, but it's open for debate. There are plenty of main questline possibilities, and lots of side quests that could be written. Plus, a good Elf Lore area of the world needs to be featured.

This also brings forward the idea of an expansion revisiting Vvardenfell and Morrowind area. I'd rather not see this happen, but what if they had something about the Argonian takeover of Morrowind after the Second Arnesian War? Argonian playable lore is lacking, and since it's a fan favorite player race, I dont see why it wouldnt be featured in an upcoming DLC. Any other ideas on this?

Frost Fall would be a kickass name for a Skyrim expansion.
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.

Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

I think its fun speculating. Hearthfire to me, means falltime and magick. It would be awesome to have a dlc themed on magick. The COW was a questline that was intense in the drama...but ended abruptly. So I agree with a previous comment that the college would be a great opportunity for add on. So one dlc has to do with vampires, another with possibly magick...maybe Thalmor related, and the last? Dark Brotherhood! I kid I kid...

I doubt they would do an expansion to do with the continuation of what the Psijic are doing with the Eye, as that require the PC to complete the CoW questline, and I doubt Bethesda would make a DLC that requires the PC to have got to a certain point in the game, usually the DLCs are something that you can pick up and blast off into.

This very much.

I could see a Psijjic questline, with some notes if you have finished the College questline, but not a Psijjic questline around the events of the college

I'm really liking Bethesda's approach to Skyrim the it's DLC. With most of the other games they've released way too much info has been shared/leaked before it's release date. I would much prefer to know nearly nothing about the content and have it be a new unexpected experience than an "Oh.. I saw/read about this a hundred times earlier..". They managed to keep basically everything about Dawnguard a secret, in the time we've known about it all we know is (spoiler tag in case people don't/don't want to know yet)
Spoiler:
Beta info NOT ALLWOED...yet
In the 15-20 hour DLC. It is supposedly longer and contains more content than their new game Dishonored. I hope they release the bare minimum amount of info about Hearthfire if it is a DLC as well.
