ZeniMax has filed another Skyrim-related trademark covering computer game software with the USPTO. The filing is for Hearth Fire, which in the game is a skill book titled “2920, vol 09 – Hearth Fire”. The book is part of 12 volume series and beefs up your conjuration skills. The application was filed on May 24 and it’s unknown what the firm’s plans are for this exactly. It could be DLC or something else entirely.
Interesting news, possible DLC 2 anyone?

Re: Hearth Fire DLC?
I usually don't like to speculate on speculation, but given the accuracy of last time with the Dawnguard trademark, i'll participate.
While i'm leaning more towards a trademark for Elder Scrolls Online, if i'm wrong, the more important thing to take away from this is, Dawnguard's on it's projected course and almost done. But i honestly think it's for ESO.
But for the presented question, "Will BGS make DLC 02?" i would say yes, they are contractually obligated. So this part isn't speculation.
But i guess we'll just wait and see.

Re: Hearth Fire DLC?
Hearthfire is an in-game month. I think they just trademarked the name so that no one else can use it in the same way.

Re: Hearth Fire DLC?
Because a hearth is an object, a fireplace in fact. Hence Hearthfire. The other months have either been used in other media already or aren't just that probable to be used.

Re: Hearth Fire DLC?
Probably just a protective move to keep the name "Hearth Fire" from being used by those Amish electric fireplaces that have become so popular in the past few years.

Sun's Dawn
Mid Year
FrostFall
and several other months are extremely common, or equally useable, phrases. Just doing Hearth Fire is illogical.

I agree, but I doubt they'll be naming a DLC after a month.

Re: Hearth Fire DLC?
I think it's too early to make any assumptions about the next DLC when Dawnguard hasn't been released yet, or even had its content officially announced. And, when you think about it, "Hearth Fire" isn't a great name for a video game expansion. "Dawnguard": mysterious and epic. "Hearthfire": Um... marriage improvements?
Start the groove.

Re: Hearth Fire DLC?
More likely something magic based, the Hearth Fire book raises your conjuration skill.

Re: Hearth Fire DLC?
Hearthfire isn't related to magic in any way, though. The book just happens to bear that name because it's an account of the year 2E2920.

Which is exactly why they would a make a DLC using its name magic based, people who think of Hearth Fire, think of the book.Mars wrote:Hearthfire isn't related to magic in any way, though. The book just happens to bear that name because it's an account of the year 2E2920.

Re: Hearth Fire DLC?
Heartfire is the ninth of the 12 seasons in the Elder Scrolls universe. It is considered to be a Fall (Autumn) month. (by our definition).
Annual Events during Hearthfire:
1st of Hearthfire: The Rites of Moawita practiced by the Psijic Order.
3rd of Hearthfire: Tales and Tallows - A celebration of Necromancy. Many citizens fear this day, and avoid the streets.
6th of Hearthfire: Khurat is celebrated in the Wrothgarian Mountains
12th of Hearthfire: Riglametha held in Lainlyn.
19th of Hearthfire: Children's Day celebrated in Betony.

Re: Hearth Fire DLC?
That's Daggerfall lore, though. Not sure if they'd go back to that, but the first event is magic related.

A lot of Daggerfall's lore still remains.Mars wrote:That's Daggerfall lore, though. Not sure if they'd go back to that, but the first event is magic related.
Also there's necromancy, which would go well with a possible magic themed DLC.
Looking at the actual trademark page gives us some interest in results also

Nah, that was everyone else's guess for the last DLC. Im just going against the grain.SajuukKhar wrote:wasnt that your guess for the last DLc also?soda popinski wrote:Just a wild guess, but im thinking it has to do with Meridia and the falmer
As for trademarking a name, they would only do it if they were going to either name the DLC that, or if it were an extremely integral part of the game.

Maybe it is something in the Dawnguard DLC?

Re: Hearth Fire DLC?
that is very doubtful, one doesnt trademark something as if it were its own product if it is just part of another product.cowleyj wrote:Maybe it is something in the Dawnguard DLC?

Re: Hearth Fire DLC?
If indeed it is a DLC it sounds to me like something from Morrowind, there were lots of hearth type things particularly with the Ashlanders. I would guess something to do with Winterhold/Windhelm and the Dark Elves.
I'm on my way to Windhelm to join up with the Stormcloaks, Ulfric has the right of it!

Re: Hearth Fire DLC?
What vague names they are picking for Skyrim's DLC. "Shivering Isles" and "Knights of the Nine" were way more specific in their nature than "Dawnguard" and "Hearthfire". It's like they WANT us to be totally in the dark about them lol.
Do you mind? I'm doing the fishstick. It's a very delicate state of mind.
