TES Online, what are you hoping for the death system?
In The Elder Scrolls Online, how are you hoping that the death system/reviving will work?
My idea was that when you die, based on your characters past choices, they will go to a daedric realm (which daedric realm being based on characters past choices) and have to fight their way back to nirn/escape the realm. It would be difficult and time consuming, yet fairly dynamic so it is not repetitive. This would make people cautious and really not want to die. A WoW style of just dying and running back would be terrible, and would not make that much sense in my opinion.
Thoughts?

Meh, wasn't sure where to post it, decided here since it is usually the most active. Forum people need to add a TES Online forum ;|Frost Mage wrote:Great thread, but this belongs in the TES General Sub-Forum!

Well its not 'Skyrim' specifically so there's no need for it here.
As for the topic, I doubt it will be much beyond WoW 'click to revive' system.

Re: TES Online, what are you hoping for the death system?
Ideally it would be nice to have some sort of more...permanent death for PVP scenarios, depending on their size, to really emphasize cooperation and make it more meaningful, maybe something like what Frogmander mentioned. Of course in reality I think the majority of players would be incredibly annoyed at this kind of feature, and so it will probably end up very similar to WoW.
This is (no doubt) wishful thinking but it would be great if there was a real distinction made between RP servers and regular servers, with actual gameplay changes taken into account to make the world more immersive and enjoyable for those who RP. That way we could get the inclusion of a more realistic or longer-lasting death, along with a "corpse-run" similar to WoW, and everyone could be satisfied...though I would be beyond surprised if anything like this was actually included.

What I want is sort of redundant at this point, as the reason has already been stated - your soul is cursed or enslaved by Molag Bal, and he keeps reviving you for his sadistic amusement.
That's pretty similar to what I'd design, anyway.

Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

penalty of time. A week for roleplaying servers, and you wake up on a hospital, as I say somewhere else...

Well, there we go. I can live with that...nice to at least have some lore backing it up.Pilaf The Defiler wrote:What I want is sort of redundant at this point, as the reason has already been stated - your soul is cursed or enslaved by Molag Bal, and he keeps reviving you for his sadistic amusement.

Re: TES Online, what are you hoping for the death system?
Lol, well it doesn't sound too user friendly compared to the typical elder scrolls style which was "die. reload." They just need to enact an exp/gold penalty. It makes the most sense. If this game is supposed to be challenging, dying will happen very often and having to run through a gauntlet of hell may discourage dying but it will also discourage playing the game in general.Frogmander wrote:In The Elder Scrolls Online, how are you hoping that the death system/reviving will work?

If I lose exp, that makes me want to play more to regain that exp. If I have to do some tedious run every time I die, I will get bored quick. The system doesn't have to be original by any means. Diablo 2 used a similar system and it lasted a good decade and then some. Why fix what isn't broken?
How do you tie in lore with this? Molag Bal brings you back to life for his amusement but a part of your soul whithers away or something along those lines. Idk, MB is a dick. He can do as he pleases with your stats lol.

The same % at every level, but each level increase, that would mean more exp. So, higher levels force you to be carefull

THIS I love the OP's idea. "Cloning" or "being gravestoned" is kind of stupid IMO.
After youre done with the Daedric realm, you get your stuff back
(or you don't lose your stuff to begin with)
Playing SWG, a death system which gives more favor to the player is really awesome, and does not take away AT ALL.
