Ok rohugh, I now know what you mean. Go to the Morrowind launcher and click on options then windowed. Thank you. BUT sadly there is something wrong with my morrowind launcher, and all the options except Elder Scrolls.com and Exit are grayed out. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Sometimes Morrowind just seems to be twitchy that way. I have the GOTY version and it won’t patch either. I have no problem with the “option” menu on the launcher, but on “option” menu that you get in game, for some reason, the gamma correct in the “video” submenu doesn’t work. I can reef it all the way over to the right and my game is still uncomfortably dark.
I’ve tried to fix these things, but can’t seem to. Does anyone else’s Morrowind have these sorts of — umm — eccentricities?
yes i do. BTW i thought GOTY is already patched
Anyway i have strange crashes with some characters while others worked mostly fine and had rare crash. And exit times form the game were abnoramlly long. it worked ok with other character and then just... out of the blue...
anyway it usually helps to delete the whole thing (backup the saves before) and then reinstall. it worked ok then.
As for your gamma correction i know what it is. you need to increase it in you graphics card settings not in morrowind. Likely your card has a menu where you select certain gamma rating for certain type of stuff. for example you can have low or normal gamma on normal desktop or when writing in word, but high level when you are running games. i know that because i had the same issue and all i needed was to find this setting in Radeon's control panel and increase it a bit for games. before it was unbearable. dungeons were so dark even with torch lit on or smaller illusion spell.
