*A wild V appears from the abyss and everyone in the village runs in fear of his opinions*

Or they'll pull a world of warcraft ane make you pay 60$ for the game itself
Then pay another 15$ to play it
And another 15$ every month to keep playing it
Not to mention a 10$ account activation fee
Then a few months later, another 60$ for an expansion that you can not expirence the full game without it considering everyone will have the expansion and no one cares or plays the old content anymore, forcing you to buy the expansion and new players will never expirence that old content or play through it at will because they will never be able to find groups that play the old content.

Then there is all the merch and the little ingame items that you buy with money, along with a 10$ fee for things as simple as changing your characters name.

All tied together with an iffy community composed of half decent people who have a job and play in moderation. As well as half lowlifes who blow your brains out by yelling in the microphone that they are this god among man and do not deserve to be killed by people in pvp. The people that play every second of every day.

So the pattern we have all seen with many game series continues. Where a game title starts to gain the attention of the public eye. At first it is great. The company works their best into producing the next chapter to the series. With their previously saved up revinue they create huge advertisement campeigns. The final product is a golden goose. The game is amazing, the money flows in like no tomorrow. Then the mother company becomes suddenly interested in the success and they decide to take part in it. Ring a bell? Bioware and EA. Edios and Ubisoft. Now Bethesda and Zenimax.
Here comes the magic where they know they can produce something that is a horrible pile of stool with no work put into originality or creativity, but they can make the same ammount of money that they would actually working on the game just because they slap on a title.

If this prediction is true, don't be suprised if UESP slowly sees a spike in the idiot population.

Besides, if you actually look at the facts:
10.2 million people today play WoW since it's release. Of the 11.68 million skyrim copies purchased, it is safe to assume that many people have also returned their copies. Reasonably speaking, 20%. 9.34 copies of skyrim vs 10.2 million players. Roughly 9/10. Fraction.

Now, looking at things more realistically:

Actual fans of the TES series and not just bandwagoners: 2 million, depending on where you find fans. I pretty much just combined the total members of several forums, likes on facebook, etc etc (in TES best interest). 2 million vs 10.2 million. 1/5. Fraction.

Now, realistically speaking, if current attitudes continue, there is no way all TES fans would want to play the MMO. So far, I'd say only 1 out of 5 people are for the idea so 1/25. Fraction.
what? where the heck did those numbers come from? could you use that same formula on Warcraft 3?
Tiber_Septim_Inn wrote:Also, plenty was happening 1000 years ago (i count at least 4 Major Events vs. Skyrim's 5, Oblivion's 6 and Morrowind's 2, going off of UESP) and knowing bethesda, they won't go exactly 1000 years in the past. Bethesda has lots of imagination. They could make a 200 hour plus game just about an Ant Hill colony needing to gather food before winter if they wanted to. I bet it would sell 5 million copies too lol. Besides, if you bothered to read the topic CLOSER, you would know that Bethesda and Zenimax are not limited to what lore has already occurred and they could easily make lore that a) went unnoticed by historians and b) does not conflict with current lore.
yeah, I know, I was saying it was clever of them to choose a period where nothing happend to give them creative freedom.

Well they actually CAN go 1000 years in the past because it lands them in a 128 year gap between the Sixth Century and the Seventh Century but that's definitely not their starting timeline.

Some people tend to forget that we know absolutely nothing about an entire century in the 2nd era:
The Eight Century=circa 222 years of space for them to play with which,in my mind, makes it the best starting point for the MMO timeline.

Yea but you would think that something as big as Molag Bal attempting to drag Tamriel into his realm would have been recorded lol. I honestly wish they took a conflict that there was SOME lore for and just developed it more. (And because there is no lore to support it, i again put up my theory of a dragon break. It happened but it didnt happen!)

Do you want to know a really clever explanation I heard a few days ago? Here it is: This is all a fantasy within Molag Bal's realm, where he's tricking mortals into thinking they're saving the world.

Yes. But as UESP'rs, we know better than anyone that we are all just Molag Bal's playthings. :P

It isn't nice imagining him confusing people like that, though.

Having watched the interview, I'm surprised how much my views have been changed by it. It still sounds completely like a typical MMO as far as I've paid attention, but the tension and motivations of the three factions sound like it fits in pretty snuggly with what Bethesda has established in terms of lore.

It sounds really awesome, but I think theres a big chance it will flop. SWTOR was really the last stand for the golden era of 'new and exciting' button mashing MMOs that wouldn't last.

There will be different servers, I presume. Good servers and bad. Stick to the good ones.

Honestly, everyone's being so negative and it's ticking me off. I'm not a fan of MMOs, but I don't condemn them either. No doubt some people will be able to enjoy this and they don't need your constant bickering. I suggest we stop complaining about things we know nothing about yet and save that for when the game actually comes out.

Well luckily, a large group of people are going for the idea. The others? Well, they are either being reasonable or they just want Tamriel all to themselves. Either way, it's meh. More fun for us.

I don't like the idea of this for so many reasons. The Elder Scrolls have always been a personal adventure for me. When I saw the screen shots game looks terrible and the game is not even being made by Bethesda. I hope this does not ruin my favorite game series, and I am predicting that this game will contradict the lore that we currently know. Thankfully the Fallout MMO was already canceled and dishonored was announced.

Honestly, the screenshots have the same feel as Oblivion, with some of the graphic overhaul of Skyrim and then twisted with a more accurate/balanced depiction of the humanoid body. Idk about some of you guys but in pretty every TES I played, the body of any character seemed a bit stunted in some areas and overgrown in others. In oblivion, it felt like I was dealing with talking heads. In Skyrim, it felt like I was talking to roid freaks. And Morrowind? Bodies seemed drawn to scale but they were also incredibly short.

Call me critical or unrealistic but the body types they are using for the characters seem alot better than anything we have seen so far, albeit, I will admit that this game probably will not have the same "leet" graphics as Skyrim simply because MMOs are typically released for access to the masses (many of which don't have a computer capable of playing skyrim)

Considering most of the people you talk/see in Skyrim are Nords,Orcs,Redguards and Imperial Legionaries I think you can understand why they are not anorexic whimps. Also,Skyrim has the best body ratio of any game I have seen in years and the last two TES's didn't do so badly especially Oblivion who had a noticeable level of quality over it's main competitors at the time (Gothic III for example).

Call me critical or unrealistic but the body types they are using for the characters seem alot better than anything we have seen so far[...]

Did you mean:
Compared to former TES's?
Nah,at the moment they seem on par with Oblivion(but I'll admit,a slight improvement can be noticed).
or
Compared to other MMOs?
Hell no!On this front(and others) games like Guild Wars,Aion and Tera win hands down.

albeit, I will admit that this game probably will not have the same "leet" graphics as Skyrim simply because MMOs are typically released for access to the masses (many of which don't have a computer capable of playing skyrim)

Hm,I don't approve of scaling down the graphics for the "masses".While we can't see graphics like Crysis or Skyrim in a MMO I think that taking them to ground level limits what the developers can do with the game.
Tera, for example, doesn't follow this pattern and the game world really shows it.
It's absolutely gorgeous!
Do you want to know a really clever explanation I heard a few days ago? Here it is: This is all a fantasy within Molag Bal's realm, where he's tricking mortals into thinking they're saving the world.

Hm,I was thinking more along the lines of people not wanting to remember or having their memory erased by the Gods to forget the horrors of this event but this explanation is the best I've heard so far,Gideon. :)
Thanks for sharing.

Would make sense considering that this MMO has been in development since around the release of Oblivion, 2007 to be more specific, and the team purportedly attempted to capture some of the art direction of Oblivion, particularly with Cyrodiil in the MMO.

On another note, I'm actually really liking the idea being presented by TESO of the contrast between the business and economics orientated Daggerfall Covenant, the ideologically driven Aldmeri Dominion and the Ebonheart Pact, which is essentially a union fighting to defend their own lands from the incursion of other powers.

I must say that i received the news with a lot of mixed feelings.. I love the TES series, especially for the effect that you make on the world around you, with the choices you take in quests with multipli endings or just by random killing of NPC's in towns and i hav a hard time seeing how they are going to pull that off in an MMO.
I havn't the biggest or the greatest experience with MMO's i only played LOTR for two weeks and in WOW i got to lvl 70 but and didn't really fancy it, because there was no epic feeling when you played it.. as said previously "You killed the lich king and so did everyone else".. I want a feeling the is unique in every playthrough and when i take choice or kill an NPC i want it to make an impact on the world, but i dont want other players doing something that has a consequence on my game..
From what i read on the scans that i found with google it sounds like Zenimax has a interesting buildup when it comes to the questsystem, but about the combat system with a the "hotbar" set up like in WOW is not my cup of tea..

When it comes to lore im not worried about them screwing it up, not after i read The Infernal City and Lord of souls ! That really hurt my feelings..

Im going to give it a try because im a fanboy and maybe ill like an maybe ill hate it, but i will not let it ruin the rest of the series for me and i hope that Bethesda continues the series with TES: VI
