Re: dovahkiin vs grey warden
Cross universe battles very rarely are anything more than speculation. Different universes, different rules. Where would the battle take place? Would their respective powers work in a setting outside what they're used to? etc.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

Re: dovahkiin vs grey warden
This, there is absolutely next to no way to determine who would win, I mean, in Dragon Age, Thu'um does not exist, does that mean that the Dovakiin cannot use Thu'um? Does it mean that we assume the Grey Warden would have no ability with Thu'um if he were in the TES universe, etc. Things get messy.Pilaf The Defiler wrote:Cross universe battles very rarely are anything more than speculation. Besides, as a note, I think this should be in the Multimedia section as opposed to the Skyrim section, as it's not about Skyrim.

I think it would depend on whether the Dovahkiin used the Thu'um.

Re: dovahkiin vs grey warden
This is almost the same as saying 'Who would win; Dovahkiin or Darth Vader?' It depends on universe. Does the Force exist in Skyrim?
Also, I very much doubt the Dovahkiin would allow his death to some guy waving his hand around in a dildo suit.
Then again, I can't see Darth Vader being killed by someone with very large vocal chords and an anger management issue.

Re: dovahkiin vs grey warden
The Grey Warden definitely has the short straw in this deal. His/her main grace is that they can sense Darkspawn and are immune to the poisonous effect of their blood. Tack on the fact that they have only thirty years to live once they become one, or that the very act of killing a dragon will most likely result in their own death, and you're facing epic levels of suckage.

Re: dovahkiin vs grey warden
Their lifespan is irrelevant when we're talking a single fight, and I don't know about any of you, but I NEVER lost a dragon fight in Origins. Not even Flemmie.
It all comes down to spell power. Let's assume the Warden is a mage, because, well, that's what he is. Dovahkiin has a handful of crap spells (ooo, SPARKS!), and a limited selection of weapons which he can coat with some weak-ass poisons. Warden has things like Crushing Prison, Earthquake, Draining Aura, and Storm of the Century. Hell, a single Mana Clash would be enough to wipe out many Dovahkiin builds, and even the ones who survive would be severely wounded, thanks to the imposed magic-talent rules during character creation. How could the Dovahkiin deal with any of that? He can't. He can't evade Earthquakes or Grease, since he's got no Acrobatics. He can't evade Force Fields, which means a frontal assault is out of the question, and since he's got no good indirect fire AoE spells, except for MAYBE the Storm shout, he can't handle any type of Blizzard/ Inferno arty duel. He might try the stealthy approach, but he can't even go invisible properly, thanks to the lack of Cham-o. His best hope would be to hop on a horse and... well, fast travel away, since he can't fight on horseback. Then hide underwater for thirty years until the Warden goes off to die.
Sure, it's not the Dovahkiin's fault, but Bethesda's hobbled him too much, and the Warden would win.

There is a shout that makes him invincable to any damnge "become erthrtal" or something like that.DorostheConqueror wrote:Their lifespan is irrelevant when we're talking a single fight, and I don't know about any of you, but I NEVER lost a dragon fight in Origins. Not even Flemmie.

Re: dovahkiin vs grey warden
Ethereal would help, so would the indestructible Odahviing, maybe. how about Storm Call? Calls storm for 180 seconds. Each target within 150 feet is struck by a 80 damage lightning bolt every 3-6 seconds, sound a lot more powerful than any single spell from Dragon Age, but I never finished that game. then his Defenses can stop up to 85% damage of all kinds, which is more than enough to resist something like Grease. how about casting Damaging and Healing spells simultaneously for free with some enchantments, will even allow for a build with only 100 mana, no more required, so Mana Clash would be practically meaningless. why don't we just use some Food to restore Stamina for 12 minutes and just use a Deadly Shield Bash and Stun Lock 'em. Skullcrusher perk will ignore 75% armour. the Power Shot perk will make the Warden stagger from half of the shots, with the ability to see the world in slow motion while aiming there is almost no chance of missing his target, the Shadow Warrior perk would... nah, that's just not fair. after a Whirlwind Spint into the Grey Wardens face there's a 25% chance that one attack from the Dragonborn will decapitate his foe. a pair of Dead Thralls (my favorite) with some Legendary class Daedric Bows with many options for tricksy tricks in the Enchanting department to repeatedly strike at thier prey can casually deal with any single target.
oh, if you're going to set something up that'll stop the Dovahkiin then FUS RO DAH!!
really, once the Dovahkiin has reached the maximum level he has to use self imposed limiters to give his enemies any chance.

Then why bother posting?
I'm with Dark spark on this. The grey warden isn't much more than an accomplished warrior/Mage/rogue.

Re: dovahkiin vs grey warden
The Ethereal shout ALSO prevents the Dovahkiin from attacking, or doing anything else for that matter. All he can do is run away; the moment he takes any kind of action, be it swinging a sword, charging a spell, or even opening a door, he'll re-materialize and the effect is lost. So how's that supposed to help? Since he's got no DoTs, he can't fire and forget, either. Oh, sure, Storm Call- but thanks to the recharge mechanic, he can't go ethereal for almost three minutes after casting Storm Call!
Crushing Prison on sight, followed by Mana Clash. If that doesn't seal the win for the Warden, then use the stun time to cast Storm of the Century. Simple as the combat system in Skyrim.

Re: dovahkiin vs grey warden
Except one problem, the gray warden is NOT always a mage and dose not always have magic, even then just you your magic sehild to stop it, and there are ways to get your shouts to chrage WAY quciker, and last but not least if the dragon born is an impreal he can stop the fight and then sneak atack
if he is an orc he can kill him very quickly
ETC.

Re: dovahkiin vs grey warden
According to canon, the Warden is a mage, and mage's can most certainly use magic. As for the Dovahkiin, he's a Nord, again, going strictly by canon. He's neither an "impreal" nor an orc, and at any rate, neither of those races are much good in a fight anyway. Shouts can be used quicker with the proper specs, true, but so what? A useless Shout done once every thirty seconds is no better than a useless Shout done once every forty seconds. Useless is useless, period. And he won't even be able to get off the first shout, because again, Crushing Prison.

I thought it was just Hawke that was mage by canon? But in all seriousness any given class of Warden from Origins would kick the crap out of the Dovahkiin. The Voice alone can only do so much. Comparing historical importance and combining it with the actual abilities they have available to themselves as fact within their own universes, then assuming all options are available in a fight then the Warden would win through sheer overpowering force. This isn't just a Grey Warden. This is The Grey Warden.
As Kerr said though, Batman would still win.

Oh no, you're not deflecting the onus of proof that easily. Last time I checked, the canon clearly stated he was a mage. Where in canon does it say he's not a mage?Wolfie wrote:Okay lets try that again, where in canon dose it say that? what is your soruce?
Batman is a straight up bustah, so overrated. I'd say he was the Chuck Norris of superheroes, but that wouldn't even cover half of it.As Kerr said though, Batman would still win.

Can't really decide. We don't know how magic interacts with magic from the other universe.
