I'm currently playing the pre-configured version of Daggerfall but I had the same problem with the manually installed version I used earlier. The 3D maps of the dungeons scroll too damn fast. If I only touch those arrows the whole thing zooms across the screen. It's almost impossible to check areas above or below me. People complain about the dungeons and their maps all the time, but I can't find anything about this particular issue. I've watched gameplay footage where the map scrolls at a much more reasonable speed.
Has anyone come across this before? Is there any way to affect it?

Dungeon maps
I got to thinking... maybe I'm the Prince of Destruction, and I just don't know it yet.

Re: Dungeon maps
I should add I'm playing it on Windows 7 and the game itself runs at normal speed.

Re: Dungeon maps
As I heard the only real way to play Daggerfall is to use the DOS Box. First I tried playing it using Windows XP without the DOS Box. The game runs, but not all things work (eg diving/climbing was impossible).
Configurating the Dos-Box for Daggerfall is a little tricky. I only have a manual for the configuration in german, but Im sure a manual in english also exists.

Re: Dungeon maps
Daggerfall has the WORST maps of any game I have played in recent history "as in from 1995-2012"... I loved the game on my first playthrough and found it to be quite the time sink although not as much so as Morrowind but that's just because Morrowind has a unique setting among rpg's.
I would get lost for hours on end on even moderate sized dungeons because the map was just so weird... the game itself is great and that is imo it's only real downfall.

Re: Dungeon maps
@Steff: I am playing it on DOSBox. Sorry, I wasn't clear. Occasionally the map will scroll at a slower speed now, but even when it's not, I think I'll manage.
@Travalanche: Yeah, the dungeons can be real turn off. The worst thing is when you've searched for for something quest related for about an hour, fighting critters appropriate to your level, and then suddenly start running into WAY too powerful monsters and have to leave. I swear, those vampire ancients are waiting for me in every other dungeon and I'm only level 4! Maybe I'm cursed.
