Permanent Death, d20

Post by cypruss11 »

I decided to use a d20 when my character dies, I'll roll it, and the number will effect what happens to my character.
1-5 Minor wound, doesn't really effect anything. It'll probably heal in a few days.
6-15 Wounded, may hurt his leg, unable to sprint, or one of his arms got hit rendering it useless. It'll take a few weeks to heal completely.
16-19 Major Wound, Same as wounded, but much more severe.
20 Death/Almost death, at 20 he may need to rest for weeks, months! Before he can even get out of bed. Then he will still be pretty injured.

I'm to cowardly to not give myself a chance out of permanent death... I think my injury system fits me better.

I like the idea but I don't think it would work so well in some cases. For example, getting shot in the head with an arrow and no helmet on most likely isn't a "minor" wound. You would probably have to make too many excuses as to why you survived. If it were me I would just let myself rest for however bad I think the injury is, and if it is INEXPLICABLY bad (Like falling off a 300 foot cliff), then I would perma die. Or if you prefer to keep the d20 you could alter the chances for a wound to suit your injury for example if it is survivable (Like getting hit with a magicka bolt or something) then you could make it so you have a HIGHER chance to get a minor wound and a lower chance for a severe injury. Just a thought.

"A hit causes you an injury at random places, roll a dice and see where!"

A thing like that, combined with the strength of the hit, may indicate what happen. Fallout!
