Strange follower deaths

Post by Bigbadbod »

Hi, has anybody else had their followers dying for no apparent causes?

When I first started, I had Lydia as a follower, (from about lvl 9-12), she disappered during a battle with a dragon, now I know that the dragon did not get her, but a near by Giant might of. I never found the body anywhere, but the Giant might have launched her, so we can account for this death, just strange that no body turned up.

For the majority of the game since, (until last night, I am now lvl 54), I had Erandur. Now thos guy was specced up to hell.
Exquisite Ebony Armour, rating 78 with plus 60 health
Exquisite Ebony Helmet, rating 32 (ish) with an enchantment I cannot remember.
Exquisite Orcish Gauntlets 29 with 25% extra one handed weapon damage enchantment
Exquisite Ebony Boots of Fire Abatement, lvl 32 (ish) 30% flame resist.
Necklace and ring with forgotten enchantments
Numerous weapons with ratings of 60+ damage with various enchantments
Plus his own (powerful) magic abilities.
Now, we had been through thick and thin together and totally kicked ass. Until yesterday, I was doing the Siege On The Dragon Cult quest for the mask of Rahgot. All was going well, fought all the way through, killed Rahgot and his minions, got the shout from the Word Wall and left to meet up with 'Captain Valmir'. Now, Erandur was with me then and the fight to kill Valmir and the Imperial took seconds. I left straight away to go back to Whiterun and he had disappeared.
I have searched the entire area outside Forelhost and inside the dungeon, he is no where, I don't know what killed him or where. I have waited for days at The Night Temple and he has not arrived and it has let me take on a new Follower.

I now have Aranea Ienith as a follower, she is decked almost exactly the same as Erandur and also a powerful magic user.
Now, today I was leaving Frostmere Crypt after the Pale Lady mission, I left through the main exit and she was nowhere to be seen, I went back in and she was laid dead on the ramp over the water on the way out after the Word Wall.

So, I am abit confused, as both of these would take alot of killing, yet in the space of 2 days both have died and there has been no enemies in the vicinity.
If my Dremora had killed them I would of noticed, (he is also quite soft and he was not active when Aranea Ienith died) and Barbas would take forever to kill either of them when they are both at full health, so I would notice.

Any ideas anyone?

No, but the two companions i made a post about losing happened in Forelhost! I say its cursed! Lost a housecarl and a dog. I think it might be a glitch dealing with 4 companions total (2 summons, dog and henchmen)

Hi rpbraley868,

Thanks for the reply.
Just to add, I had got the final Shout for Storm Call form Forelhost Word Wall. So, I used that on Captain Valmir and the Imperial, just to test it out.
Is it possible Erandur got caught by a lightning bolt?

That could of course have happened in bad luck. Shouts are really not that keen on checking whether or not anyone is an actual enemy of the user.
Because there's no fun to be found in being normal.

But, that still does not explain where the body went.

Perhaps he was low on life, and was slung away by the physics engine?
