Falmer Helmet and Dragon Mask

I wore the Dragon Mask Otar and my armor total was 600+. I added a Falmer Helmet and my armor total WENT DOWN. Why?

I'm not entirely sure, but Otar is Heavy, while the Falmer Helmet is affected by light Armour perks. Perhaps you are wearing all Heavy Armour and the Falmer helmet is interfering with the Well Fitted perk? The odd thing though, is that you can wear a Falmer Helmet over a Dragon Mask, or Circlet, for that matter. I'm unsure, perhaps someone else can shed more light, but maybe this is the explanation?
