Mirili Ulven keeps dying when entering her house

Post by Elhana »

Hello everyone! I have run into a problem with my game and hope someone can give me an idea on how to get around it.

I'm working on Mirili Ulven's quests in Highcross (in Shivering Isles); I've returned a fair bit of the alchemy ingredients to her, and I've also returned a ballywog to her. However, now every time she enters her house, she dies for some reason if I'm not in the house at the same time she enters. If I enter the house after she has died, she either appears to be standing up (but will fall to the ground if she's moved in any way) or she glides away in a very spooky and odd way. At any rate, she's dead!

I'm playing the PC version and I believe I have all the recent updates installed (except the player-made patches). I've looked around and haven't seen anyone else with this problem. I am not averse to using the console to attempt to save her, but I'm not really sure what would work, and I'd love to hear an idea.

(edit, would just like to add that I have tried reloading an old game, I've tried dropping stuff in her house to see if it bumps her around, all sorts of things. At the moment, nothing works. Whenever she enters her house, poof, she dies -- if I'm not there. Now I'm considering trying to reverse pickpocket something on her that might keep her from even entering her house but I'm not sure if I can get that far away from her without her going back in for some reason!)

Well, I've tried various console commands for a while now, with no luck. I can locate where she is supposed to be on the map, and at times it appears that she is stuck in a rock or something else. I can get her with the console, and I've tried to use the moveto command, enable, disable, all that kinda stuff, but I haven't had any luck. I can't seem to get her to appear now, for some bizarre reason! She has ceased to be in the game world, but if I use the console to kill her, the quest moves to that stage where she has died and then that's it.

I'd love any other ideas or suggestions if anyone has any.

The closest thing I've heard to anything like this is the quest to purchase a house in Skingrad. The questgiver has a tendency to die too and no one has been able to find a way to resurrect him once that happens. It could be that you've encountered a new "game-breaker" glitch. If the console isn't even helping then it's possible something deeper is going wrong within the game.

Are you running any non-official mods? If you are then it's possible one of them is conflicting with the game somehow.

limited success!

Well, I did eventually try creating a completely new NPC (using the placeatme command and her base ID) and it appears that this is a good work-around. She responds the same way as her "original" and I'm hoping I can advance the quest once I find a few more items to turn in to her (or track down an elytra).

I was hesitant to use the placeatme command because of the caution in the console tutorial, but nothing else worked.

The only non-official mod I am using is the exnem body.
