Yeah I'm liking the Morrowind or Solstheim idea myself to be honest as a starting point.

i was thinking i'd like to visit morrowind down the road near riften, or destroy the Thalmor base somewhere (imo the war against the Thalmor would just as likely take us to their seat of power in cyrodiil, as summerset isle)
but i really like the idea of expanding blackreach and perhaps getting some dwemer action

Yeah, I think that going into the depths in terms of location would be interesting, as you could get some volcanic action going, which would be a nice sort of change from Skyrim's climate and topography, and make a nice complementary DLC package, maybe near the Hammerfell boarder.

Re: DLC - Where?
the elemental atronarchs are very prominent in Skyrim, no other daedra are common (well, dremora, but none of the beasts) so perhaps an elemental oblivion plane exists closer to Skyrim, making summoning of atronarchs the main conjuration?
maybe volcanic pits link up to the city of the flame atronarchs, a glacial shelf with frost vampires and atronarchs is somewhere else, and then a portal from a high storm swept mountain leads to the lightning plane.. that would be cool, might tie in with the atronarch altar etc

Re: DLC - Where?
The most realistic DLC locations for me at the moment are Cyrodil and Morrowind simply because they are already built in the game.
In Cyrodil I'd like a Thalmor based DLC.Plots, politics etc.
In Morrowind I'd be content just helping the Dunmer rebuild
And I'd really like a Arx Fatalis styled DLC.Maybe Dwemer related

I just got that message for the umpteenth time. Must be the new Forums layout. Anyway, I WOULD have chosen a Morrowind Expansion because I started at Oblivion and kinda fell in Love with Morrowind yet found it to inconvenient to actually buy. I would relish the opportunity to explore this amazing country, in the updated graphics and gameplay of Skyrim!

Something occurred to me today: by introducing the ability of the elder scrolls to *view* back in time, they've opened the possibility that maybe they could do more than that: maybe they could let you actually GO back in time? Not only could new DLC be anyWHERE, it could be anyWHEN. During the great war, or the argonian Invasion of morrowind, or even the original dragon war.

Re: DLC - Where?
I'd like to see how Cyrodiil is doing under the Altmer. I also want to see Morrowind. I've played Morrowind but I just couldn't get into the game. Vvardenfell is destroyed, though, isn't it? How does the rest of Morrowind look like? The diversity of Vvardenfell? I think the climate has changed since the Great Eruption, though. I believe an eruption normal for this planet can change the climate a little. If a complete island of the size of Vvardenfell gets destroyed, the whole of Morrowind would feel the impact.
Me: "So, how did you get this rich?"
Random Jarl: "I'm the Jarl and so were my father, grandfather, and his father. How about you?"
Me: "I've just spent some days chopping wood."

Re: DLC - Where?
I'm not a huge fan of going back in time, because that could change the outcome of the past, and thus the present as well as the future. (e.g. go back and win the Great War, Skyrim the game is now invalid as the White-Gold Concordat was never created). It'd be very difficult to do in a meaningful way, without confining the PC to one path, IMO.

Re: DLC - Where?
I guess so, but still, it's messy, although if it were in a different time and a totally different place, like a different plane of existence, maybe on Atmora (due to the link with Skyrim and the lack of info we currently have on the topic), then the outcome would hardly be felt on Tamriel in Skyrim.

Re: DLC - Where?
Depending on how it was done, I don't think that it's necessarily a straight jacket, especially with so much contradictory lore. What happened isn't as important as what people remember happening. I was thinking more ancient than the great war - like the original dragon war, or the campaign against the snow elves, maybe the akaviri invasion.I'm not a huge fan of going back in time, because that could change the outcome of the past, and thus the present as well as the future. I was thinking less of a "change the past" time travel than a "you can't change the past because the things you 'changed' already happened." less Chrono Trigger, more Final Fantasy VIII.
Besides, stick it before a dragon break, and you're golden.

Re: DLC - Where?
I think the next dlc will be in skyrim. Something tells me that the next few ES games will be based on the War between the Thalmor and the rest of Tamriel. Also, a dlc could be the return of the dwemer :0. Maybe, (since dwemer can make air ships or fancy tech) there is another continent where the dwemer fled to and civilized? They could come back and get their revenge! Team up with dovahkiin and live in peace with the nords in Skyrim or sign a treaty with the thalmor and and be like "Dwemer, nords, reguards, orcs, imperials, dunmer v.s. Altmer and bosmer. you gon diiiieeee"
Personally, i dont want to see the ES get all technical and advanced. i like the medieval style. I feel that Beth made the dwemer stuff kinda lore friendly. for some reason it feels like they fit in.

Re: DLC - Where?
If there's Redguard DLC, there's a lot of really good pre established lore we can go on instead of using something stupid and cliche' like Dragon Riders.
The Sword Singers, for instance. It could be a mechanic similar to Dragon Shouts, except you learn the stances from Memory Stones rather than Word Walls, but maybe you can still use Dragon Souls for the knowledge and/or some new power source in Hammerfell.

Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

Re: DLC - Where?
Just mentioning, I sincerely doubt any of the DLC's will take place in any of the countries other than Morrowind, High Rock (which doesn't sound that interesting anyway) or possibly Cyrodil, why?
Because look at Hammerfell and Summerset Isles for example, desert and tropical countries respectively, can you imagine a hairy Nord covered in furs and wearing viking armor walking around a jungle or an oasis?
Visuals aside, I also think technically trying to alter an engine designed with glaciers, fjords, snowstorms and snow-peaked mountains in mind to include different climates would be a bit much.

Re: DLC - Where?
I really don't want it to go to any other providence, since I really hope the Elder Scrolls will make a seperate game for each. Solstheim probably won't happen, since Morrowind had it in Bloodmoon. Atmora would be perfect, considering it's for Skyrim.Or, perhaps somewhere else, where we can finally (and hopefully, regularly against respawning foes) enguage the blasted Thalmor on a large scale. How fun would it be to have big clashes against them, and afterwards hunt them down? Perhaps respawning packs of 2-6 of them as a random event where ever this DLC is. The occasional three Thalmor searchsquad with a prisoner just doesn't cut it, I'd really appreciate an opertunity to give them the buisness end of my dagger. I think many others may agree

That sounds like a good theory, until you realize just how different Solsthiem was from Vvardenfell and Mournhold as an expansion setting in Morrowind. Completely different climate. Very few of the armor sets in vanilla Morrowind were appropriate for a frozen northern setting.
Not to mention heavy plate armor from Cyrodill isn't exactly comfortable in the Deadlands of Oblivion. I doubt very much Bethesda spends a huge amount of their development time thinking of how comfortable armor is in different settings.
Parts of Hammerfell are already rendered in the game engine, actually. Specifically parts of the Alik'r desert that some of the warriors from Hammerfell in Skyrim are from. Again, further evidence it's being considered.

Re: DLC - Where?
Hammerfell is plausible, considering the Aliq'r. They were never there, but now, all of the sudden. But it can also be new characters added, to get more depth in the game...

I dunno about that, I mean, I don't think the next few games will all dwell on the same subject, I mean, I can see DLC on the same topic, but multiple games into the future?Tesknowitall wrote:I think the next dlc will be in skyrim. Never was a huge fan of the Dragon Break, it was sort of a weak way out for Bethesda, IMO, because it essentially invalidated any choices the PC made. But maybe as far back as the Nordic 'invasion' of Tamriel would be cool, and relevant, maybe something related to Ysgramor.SithisIsMyCopilot wrote:Depending on how it was done, I don't think that it's necessarily a straight jacket, especially with so much contradictory lore.
