Personally, I have a sick obsession with creating overly-balanced characters which eventually become gods. And then I ridiculously perma-fortify their attributes (except speed and luck) to signify their godly status.

I chose "warrior" but I actually have a character that is more like a battlemage on steroids. She is an Imperial and her class is a custom class called Dark Paladin and it looks like a straightforward warrior-type but she excells in both Restoration and Destruction magicka, with a sub class as alchemical sorceress using created poisons to kill her enemies.
No-one should ever be made to feel ashamed of who they are.

Mage. No repairing your armor, no running out of arrows, etc etc.

Also, Pilgrim, Please Stop Capitalizing Every Word. It Is Very Annoying.
Help? Help with what? They don't make a cure for stupid. You'll just have to play through the game all over again. - Butterknife

I usually play a stealth oriented character. But lately I've been playing my pure mage, and I have to say the wielding of ancient arcane secrets is satisfying.

Not only because it was behind in the polls, but I always tend toward the thief types. I don't really see the need to murder someone; but to knick a little something from the unsuspecting for personal gain in the pocketbook, has always been a roleplaying pleasure. :Twisted Evil:

By far my favorite type of character is the Mage type. Nothing compares to raw Magicka coursing through one's body and discharging, sending a Bandit flying through the air.

I voted for Mage. You have the most options with that.

However, I've also had loads of fun playing with an Assassin, Stealthy characte and a Warrior. But overall, I'll prefer mage.

mine is a warrior, if played and raised well, he cant be defeated. A thief or an assassin dies if he fails in sneak. I also admire mages tough

i chose mage because it is straight forward and very effective playstyle also it has the potential to become by magic means any of the after classes with a
Fortify X spell.

My preference is a warrior character that uses mage-oriented races and birthsigns. I will always use an Altmer or Breton character with either the Mage or the Atronach birthsign, then focus the character skills on melee combat at least in the early game, switching to a fighter/mage hybrid in the later levels. A Breton warrior with the Atronach birthsign is very powerful after a few levels because he starts with a built in 75% magic resistance and 250 magicka.

I used to like warrior backed with magic but I've just learned the benefits of assassin.

I didn't realise that a dagger even though it has less attack can do more damage in sneak. I found out when I was building up my conjuration & sneak. Whilst in sneak I summon a scamp, conjured a dagger and attcked the scamp. I discovered that a dagger will take of far more damage than a long blade which has higher attck.

Since then I've been sneaking with dagger attacks. I also found the same is with a bow, which with some enemies I can take out in one hit whilst sneaking. My sneak has gone up greatly now and they can't even see me shooting them.

I've got a Dark Elf in light armor (elven & glass) specialising in blade and marksman. I carry DB armor which I change into for sneak and I also greater fortify agility & greater fortify sneak to assist

You get the same sneak bonus with any single-handed blade (or blunt), not just with a dagger.

Daggers are actually very underrated for melee combat as well. A daedric dagger repaired to 125% will do 23 pts of damage while a longsword will do 29 pts. However, the dagger is 40% faster so you can make 14 swings of the dagger in the same time as 10 swings of a longsword which gives 322 pts of damage vs 300 pts. They also weigh 10 lbs vs 48 lbs. The only disadvantage is the limited reach.

As far as sneak bonus, I think you get 6x regardless of what type of one hand weapon you're using and no bonus with a 2 handed.

Sneak bonus depends on your sneak skill.
Wiki wrote:# A Novice gains a 4x damage bonus for one-handed weapon and hand-to-hand attacks, and a 2x damage for marksman attacks, when undetected.

I'll agree with the numbers being on the side of the dagger, but it's just way more satisfying seeing Umbra cleave into a foe, than a dagger... :)

For my next character, I'm planning on being a monk and fighting hand-to-hand. Perhaps I'll throw some destruction magic in, and call him either Goku or Vegeta :D

Ok heres the deal, Mages rape everything, everywhere (if you know how to build and train your character and skills right).

But i voted for assasin BECAUSE there are the most fun, the thrill of a 1 hit wonder is wicked
