Kaidan gets promoted to Major in time for ME3 which is a rank or two above Lieutenant Commander, if I recall correctly.

As for changing the endings, it's true that I'm not opposed to it, and this is the first instance I can think of where something like this has happened. But I still don't think that their comment about hiding behind the glowing reviews of the game is wise. The big reviewers have been skewed for years. I don't think I've seen more than two games score below 6, so when I see a game they've rated 9.5, I usually take it with a pinch of salt.

I'm noticing that Bioware, EA and some journalists are continuing to get angrier with the fans, as fans are getting angrier at Bioware. Nobody is really handling this well.

I don't say things like this very often, but I think the fans have every right to be angry. The endings really were rubbish. No closure, no sense of an ending in any way. I can't believe that the writers thought a 150 hour trilogy could be wound up in ten minutes, because it can't, and wasn't. For a series so fond of exposition, to have none in the ending left me feeling cheated. I wanted to know what happened to Shepard's friends.

So, it doesn't explain anything about the others? Bummer.

They could've pull it off with a couple of slides and Shepard narrating the whole thing a la New Vegas' ending if they were too lazy to make more cutscenes...

In my opinion game reviews are rarely of worth, I haven't seen any big game reviewed prior to it's release date, so you end up buying blind unless you intend to wait a month or so. It's not just the big reviews that are skewed there are more than a few independent reviewers who talk utter bollocks about a game because they have some personal agenda. There are too many reviews now that score 90 - 100%, 5 stars, 9 out of 10. I can't think of any game that I have played which deserved that. Reviewers have to do this or the big developers will soon cut them out of the loop and then they lose all the junkets and freebies.

I think ME3 is a good game in an excellent series, I think some parts of it could have been handled better (endings, Ashleys new look what happended to her low visability (if your storming Barbi's house) white and pink armour, her new hair do and nose & chin resculpt, James Vega, Kai Leng getting away twice) and Bioware missed some opportunities (Tali's reveal & more flashlight use). Then again parts of ME1 & 2 were less than perfect. Who want's a perfect game we all have different opinions and the perfect game for me might be unplayable rubbish to you.

:( They recently confirmed that they weren't changing the ending, only "clarifying and adding closure."

To be honest, as long as I can find out what happens to Tali, and Garrus, and Liara, and all the others, I don't care what occurs in the rest of the galaxy. I've spent time getting to know those characters and I need to see what happens next. Or what about the incidental characters?

Hell, what about this:

This is a great idea. It would sum up all the fates of everyone in the games, and quickly. Something that just ties off the loose ends, rather than just brushing them away over the course of the game. Take, for example, Shepard's mother.
Spoiler:
Hackett says, yeah, she's safe. Where is she safe? What's she doing? WHY CAN'T I VISIT HER etc.

Spoiler:
But what about the Mass Relays? They're still destroyed; that means that everyone is stranded on Earth.

Think of Samara, who has a daughter she promised to visit, Wrex, who will soon be a father, Garrus, who has a father and brothers off world.

None of those characters have any closure.

Exactly.
Spoiler:
I still can't believe I'm being expected to just accept that this dynamic group of characters is going to be stranded without seeing their reactions. Mass Effect has always explained things. Just look at the size of the Codex. Why did they stop doing that?

So I was mad that I had to play mulitplayer at first, but now its all I have been playing, seriously well done job with the multiplayer

Highest I have beaten is silver, I like playing on bronze more than anything though, I use a Drell Adept almost exclusively and usually get the highest score with it.

One question how many freaking spectre packs do I have to buy to get the option to customize skin tone????

anyone here play mulitplayer? I have been playing a lot with Dlarsh, look me up, gamertag for Live is born2beagator

I enjoyed the ending. While I would like to know what happens to the characters afterward, BioWare has spent all this time trying to put the player into the shoes of Shepard. They're basically saying "you ARE Shepard". That being said,
Spoiler:
When Shep dies at the end, he's not going to know what happens to the rest of his crew, because he's dead.
I don't know, I really enjoyed it even though it was extremely flawed, but I don't think such a talented group of people would put a flawed ending in a game. There has to be more to it.

Spoiler:
I didn't like the endings to Mass Effect 3. All I really want Bioware to add are text based epilouges for the characters, races and factions. I don't have the right to force somebody else to change the piece of art they made and I had nothing to do with (I might end up like that crazy woman from Misery. Which I really hope doesn't end up happening to the Bioware team.) Mass Effect is the vision of its creators, if they all go crazy and decide to make a Singstar clone and call it Mass Effect 4 it is their right to make that game. It is also your right to call them out on being [&@%!] idiots. As much as I hate the endings and wish they did a better job, the decision at the end of the day is up to Bioware. I love Mass Effect but it belongs to them not me. If Bioware decide to completely change the endings fine, if not fine.

Spoiler:
I agree with that too. I'm not asking for them to change the endings because really they made perfect sense (on a basic level, I still don't buy the whole synthetics=chaos thing). I would never ask someone to change their product because I didn't like it. I've created enough of my own content to know that's a horrible thing to do. It was just the missing conclusions that made them unbearable:

Mass Relays are destroyed. Fair enough. Why not explore what happened to the fleets surrounding Earth?
Shepard controls the Reapers. Cool. What are they used for?
Shepard fuses organic and synthetic life. OK. How do people adapt to this?

It's inexcusable that Bioware spend three games building up an immersive galaxy with memorable characters, deep lore and internal conflict, and ignore all of it. The people of the galaxy are the heart of the game and they get no airtime at all, and instead an entirely new character is brought in right at the end. I read a suggestion that the child should have been the Virmire casualty, because that would have packed a greater emotional punch and brought a nice circular feel to the series. But what's done is done, and since I can't ask them to change anything, a little bit at the end is called for I think. I need that closure.

To those wondering if BioWare would cave in to the "Retake Mass Effect" movement, you should read this story about their DLC plans.

"Since launch, we have had time to listen to the feedback from our most passionate fans and we are responding. With the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut we think we have struck a good balance in delivering the answers players are looking for while maintaining the team's artistic vision for the end of this story arc in the Mass Effect universe."

Am I the only one that doesn't see ME3's ending as artistic but rather "Oh yeah, this does effect a lot of things and people in ridiculous ways...Let's just call it a day"?

I also don't see how they plan to expand on the franchise when the core of the franchise (The Mass Effect relays being the only conceivable way for the inhabitants of the galaxy to interact/get around) has been destroyed. Does ME3's ending almost seem like Bioware trying to end the Mass Effect IP on their terms before EA screws with it?

Expanding on the original endings and tying up loose ends. Also free. Excactly what I wanted. That'll do Bioware, that'll do. Hope they do a good job with Dragon Age 3.

You expected a happy ending to Mass Effect 3? I would have been disappointed if we didn't get a bittersweet ending. The cost of stopping the reapers is massive and rightly so.
Spoiler:
My favourite ending is the green one. I was annoyed by Joker running away (something he would never do, also a few other things like the whole Deus Ex Machima, the new stupid character et cetra) and somehow picking up my crew mates. I had Garrus and Ash with me in the last level so I assumed they died but guess who jumped off the ship at the end. They better explain that one in this DLC.
So casting my mind back on Tuchanka
Spoiler:
It was sad when Mordin died. When it happened I just quietly said "....a scientist salarian."

So is this Bioware releasing the planned endings that got pulled after they were leaked or have they been working hard since release date adding something to the game that should have been there from the start? Eitherway as long as I find out what happened to my squad I will be happy.
Spoiler:
I wonder how they are going to explain how Ashley & James who accompanied on the final mission survived and managed to hook up with Joker, that woman has no moral's The Shep would not have had time to cool and she has hooked up already, a little grief would have been nice glad, The Shep left everything to Kaumi in his will.

For some reason I just don't get emotional over video game character's dying. Movie characters? Yeah I will cry if it is really sad or intense (example Passion of the Christ)

But just don't get that vibe from games
