Post your stories
Here, you can post your stories about your experiences with Oblivion, such as different types of characters you've played with, role-playing, several styles of playing like sneaking and the use of magic, how you solved a particular puzzle, how you did a quest/guild in your own way etc.
Maybe it's a good idea if someone of us posts a subject and we all say something about it. Like I say 'Sneaking' and you tell a story about how you were caught after 2 hours of sneaking without saving, or why you like/don't like sneaking... And after some posts (5 or 10), we'll take a new subject.
In my opinion, it's fun to read how someone else experienced a certain quest/etc. and maybe you can discover new ways to do it and go do them yourself.
If you don't like the subject idea, then just post a randomly story, but if you do, we'll start with the subject "Hall of Fame" or just: Collection. How and where you do collect things, such as Daedric Artifacts or valuable items, and how do you store/display them?
---What I always do---
I always use Skingrad Manor as my primary house. It's weird, but I prefer that house above every other house in the game, and also castles/manors added by mods. I buy all the upgrades for it and then empty all the chests/barrels/desks/etc.
This is what I've done before for most part and what I'm going to do with my current character Aicantur:
I place books in the huge bookshelf on the second floor and spell tomes in the two small bookshelves on the third floor. I put very rare books and small items in the small display cases.
On the top of the several desks/drawers/etc. I place weapons and armor.
I put all the Daedric Artifacts and valuable items somewhere in the house, including items like:
* The Wrist Irons from the tutorial of the game
* The Mythic Dawn Robe I acquired at that same tutorial, by taking it from the first Mythic Dawn guy I killed in the game
* Some Varla Stones for decoration
* The ten Ayleid artifacts from the quests with Umbacano
* The special, and expensive, items you can buy in stores, such as Vest of the Bard
* A complete set of all types of armor, all enchanted
* In the corner right of your bed on the third floor: a Knights of the Nine 'place', with full KotN equipment, Sir Amiel's Ring, The Wayshrine's Map, Umaril's Sword, the Fine Steel Longsword that was laying next to Sir Amiel's body, etc.
* And all the items listed on this page: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Unique_Items

I collect books and wines with every character I make, regardless of race, gender, or playing style. I usually add in another odd collection or two depending on character type, etc.
My wines I just keep in a wine cabinet, nothing special. My books, however, I painstakingly place every single one on book shelves, divided by subject, etc. Series go together as well. I also have a special section for any tomes I find. Special editions and especially rare books are kept on display in glass cases (Fingers of the Mountain, for example).
My currect character is collecting anything magickal--Welkynd/Varla Stones, Daedric artifacts, etc. So far, the only Daedric item I have is the Staff of Everscamp, etc. It is not on display yet, since Aleend-Ei is still in the Shivering Isles recovering further artifacts directly from the source. Soon to be added: Staff of Sheogorath, the Manic Ring of Lordship, Manacles of Pain, Shadowrend, and others.

Personally, I usually like to have a Merchant outfit (I prefer the Blue Velvet one) to switch into when I go into a town (just seems silly to be skulking about town in my DB suit unless I'm on "business")...just a RP thing...
As I'm an "Arcane Assassin"...I prefer the Anvil house over Rosethorn Hall just to be different, and I love the secret basement room. I have bones and skulls to represent my "victims"...in this room. Yep, I'm a sick puppy....(well, the character is)
I'm working on collecting all of the books and wines in the game, but haven't even dared thought of organizing them yet, until I have all on the list, hehe... I don't know if I'll get them all, but so far, just in passing.
So far, I just love it when I shoot someone from far away, then go over and loot the body and see my arrow sticking right out of the head...nothing like admiring your handiwork!

My primary place of storage is currently Frostcrag Spire, but I ended up buying Benirus Manor for displaying things.
I particularly like putting out unique helmets that I come into possession of, I guess because they are easier to display that some things. The shelves just inside the front door are used to display small odd or unique/rare items, such as the Attenuator of Judgement, painted troll fat, etc.
I also worked on replacing all of the plates, etc with gold or fine ceramic versions and putting my own ingredients in them, though this is being somewhat thwarted by the food respawning in the house after awhile.

It's the little things, really. On the table beside the fireplace in my Cheydinhal home, the Scales of Pitiless Justice stand with a Human Heart at one end and a quill feather at the other. Roderic's Medicine sits on the mantle beside the Wedding Gift from Gweden Farm.
On the table at the foot of the bed, a bottle of Surille 399, a silver goblet and two bottles of skooma accompany the Tome of Unlife.
Outside, on the wall beside the gate, a pumpkin and a skull. Behind the house are gardening tools: a hoe and rake— formerly in the possession of matron Draconis. Along with that, the oar pulled out of the Giant Slaughterfish's gullet and the reaper's scythe from Howling Cave.

Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

Do I get bronie points ? I know why you have done that...You seem interested in egyptians...or you just picked it up off of Jeopardy or Something..Dark Spark wrote:It's the little things, really. ...and diplomacy continues to fail. Their ears fall deaf, and their eyes fall blind, yet they are still not mute. They will not know their errors. Only what they believe themselves. But we... we shall not be silenced.
As far as houses go, I actually prefer the Bruma house for simple convenience. It's located literally right at the east gate when you fast travel in and when you go in the house, there's 2 chests and a cupboard right inside the front door, so you can easily stash your stuff, and get in and out in seconds. I do also like to decorate the Skingrad house once I have a lot of unique items collected that I won't really be using.

In one corner of the cave there's a skeleton sprawled on the ground with a scythe (a full-sized Grim Reaper-esqe one, not one of the more common hand scythes) planted in its ribs. One of the few places I've seen a scythe that wasn't owned by someone else.Bruffmeister wrote:I just did the quest in howling cave but I didnt find no reapers sythe.....Dark Spark wrote:.......and the reaper's scythe from Howling Cave.
Where is it? is it a mod for the PC?
Let's get one thing straight: Jeopardy! writers get their answers from me, not the other way 'round!LunarSweets wrote:Do I get bronie points ? I know why you have done that...You seem interested in egyptians...or you just picked it up off of Jeopardy or Something..
It's a Death thing. And this is my Dark Brotherhood character.

One thing I ALWAYS do when I get a house and build up some nice items, is that I'll place books all over the place. I'll also place some nice armor over tables and some chairs. If it's with Skingrad Manor I'll place weapons in the display cases, or books, or rings and what not. I'll also place gems over desks and drawers. I do more than that, but I can't remember them all.

Re: Post your stories
Ive just got the mannequins mod, which has made me very happy, as i can now display full suits of Armour, shield and a weapon from a certain group.
Also, in the Skingrqad house, Ive started using the display cases for gems and nice looking weapons, I really do wish that there was a "place book" option on the book shelves. I also wish there was a way to display swords in stands. and not led down on a table.

Sorry, but this thread is very old. You might want to use this thread instead. Don't worry, you aren't in trouble, we'd just appreciate it if you didn't bring back any old threads when a new one is available.

lol ok, thanks for the heads up.
I guess using the search function can have negative consequences sometimes.

On the plus side, you're now owner of the oldest necropost I've ever seen. Maybe we should do something about this - it seems to be happening on a regular basis. I mean, even h8ball did it once...
"All right people, we created this multi-billion dollar facility under Cheyenne Mountain so that we can use this thing. Anyone know how?"
