The other games are cRPG. Similar but different genre.

Nope, they were RPGs that is, more or less similar to Morrowind and Oblivion, first person, stats, you choose your character, you have lots of freedom on what to do next. Adventure game focuses more on storytelling. You start with a predefinied character with specific background, name, backstory, then you solve different puzzles and there's very little if any fighting but lots of thinking, talking, decision-making, and generally adventures. You follow a predefined script with only short detours based on your decisions. You gain items, you may learn skills, but through the story progression, not by use.
Nothing like "now I'll do a few quests for Dark Brotherhood, then raid a few dungeons then raise my destruction to 50 by frying mudcrabs".

Like in an Action... its what you said... But like RPG note the name ROLE PLAYING GAME action games are more of an Role Play then action or adventure... and RPGs are more like the other two... its quite Perplexing. Anyone want to shed some light?

There's no such genre as "action". There's "arcade". Arcade games are based on your manual skills and require little thinking, good reflexes and great manual skill. Arcade can overlap many genres but usually not adventure or RPG. Diablo was mostly arcade hack&slash. Most FPS games are arcade. Oblivion was dangerously approaching it, leaving the RPG realm and entering hack&slash.

Role Playing is when you enter your role and play it freely, not following any strict scenario. You pick your role (dark mage, dumb berserker...) and then play your character in the game world. It's a "sandbox gameplay", lots of freedom, little of script. Adventure games deprive you of that freedom. You have a pretty strict scenario to follow, adventures happen, and most of difficulty is based on puzzles that allow you to progress. They are much more like movies where everything is predefined and happens in exactly the same or very similar sequence.

more Adventure titles

Post by jman0warS »

I for one, wish Bethesda would make more ElderScrolls Adventure titles.
Put out a Chapter every 5 or so years but inbetween Chapters, keep us satiated with Adventure Titles.
They could be short, sweet, entertaining little teasers that keep people coming for more til they release the next full-on ES Chapter.

Please do not necro post....

According to the rules:
No Necro-posting - This is bringing old topics back to life. If you have a legitimate reason for resurrecting a topic, to ask for more help on the same subject, that is fine. If the topic is weeks old, then they have probably received the help they needed. Making a comment in an old topic only makes you look bad, and is considered to be post flooding.
...and diplomacy continues to fail. Their ears fall deaf, and their eyes fall blind, yet they are still not mute. They will not know their errors. Only what they believe themselves. But we... we shall not be silenced.

It was on the front page so shouldn't it be fine?

And has anyone here played it?
I need a new game and I'm curious if this shows its age too much.

It's a great game.
Highly enjoyable although the combat gets tiresome.
Cyrus never improves with his blade, it's all up to you.
I wonder if you can get it working under XP tho.
Even back when it was released i remember lots of problems with GLIDE, and having to aquire such and such DLL.

I bet you can get it working with GLIDEDOS
(can't post urls) www glidos net
You can see Redguard listed there.
I used this program with the original Tomb Raider and it worked great.
Only costs like 10 bucks or something.
