Whatever happened to babette after the DB?

Post by Daemos Avetorii »

Spoiler:
When one clears out the DB Sanctuary. Babette is not there; for obvious reasons, she having the look of a kid makes her miraculously impervious to damage. So she is removed.
How did she learn of the characters imminent assault on the DB HQ. Where did she go? Will she find out about it? Will she try to find/kill the player?
Stupid questions maybe. But it just irks me. :P

My guess is that she was still out on that candy shop job she's telling the others about when you join the DB.

What of Cicero. Still stuck on the road? I suppose I can have him arrested and have him wither away in jail.
Wonder if I can visit him. o.o

There may be a lore reason for Babette and Cicero surviving - so that even if you choose to "destroy the Dark Brotherhood", there's a canon justification for it being in the next game.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

Would that imply babette is afraid of the player? Because you never see her again?

It would imply that perhaps she takes the place of the player as the Listener or something. Maybe she was out hunting or something when the purge took place.

I guess that the Babette-less Brotherhood is just the alternative version of it created by Bethesda for the quest so that there be no child-killing. That is, in this version of the playthrough Babette simply does not exist.
In between the lines there's a lot of obscurity.
I'm not inclined to resign to maturity.
If it's alright, then you're all wrong.
But why bounce around to the same damn song?
You'd rather run when you can't crawl...

That is a good explanation.

Nah, she's not afraid of you, even if you are her elder.

Are we talking role-playing here? Pretty sure most starting characters aren't going to be over 310 years old.

She was probably out on a contract at that time and after discovering everyone there was dead she didn't return. I'm pretty certain Cicero and the Night Mother surviving is a way to ensure that no matter what you do the Dark Brotherhood could still live on.
So we have come to solve every squabble in the village personally?

As an assassin she is unlikely to directly attack the dragonborn. She is probably lurking around waiting to catch him/her unaware, but only if there is a contract, as I doubt she kills for free. Could make an interesting DLC where you play as Babette.
