What's your favorite/least favorite follower and why? Have a favorite or funny story about one or a few?

Don't know if this kind of thread existed already

I had some great times with Erik the Slayer.

He uses the same gear as the character I was using at the time (two-handers and light armour) and I thought of him as a little brother as I was always giving him hand-me-downs. That and his consistently upbeat demeanour.

We could deep in the bowels of an undead-infested crypt, poisoned, diseased, horribly crippled and on fire, and when I turn to him to ask for his last potion he says, all chirpy, "Problem?"

Jenassa will always be my favorite. She's been through many adventures with me, and I'm considering on taking her on a second run. I love her attitude, and how bare-to-the-bones and blunt her commentary is. If you befriend her, she is fiercely loyal.

I love how she just won't die. I've been in so many tight spots with her.

One follower that I have no opinion on is Annekke Crag-Jumper. nice lady, but she is terribly slow. I felt like I had to wait an eternity for her to catch up in dungeons and she only stayed with me for a short quest line (the Wolf Queen series). None of her skills really wowed me, because the ones she did possess never helped me much in combat. I guess she finally called it quits when one day she just disappeared. I'm sure she's at her mine where she started, but one day she just didn't appear anywhere after I left a dungeon.

A few things I didn't like about her:
-That [&@%!] was on constant life support because she would stupidly run into a pack of bandits without any warrant, with just a cheap bow and clothing. Her health was pretty bad, even when I did give her good equipment
-I'd be trying to attack enemies, and I would almost kill her because she would place herself in front of my attacking character.
-It was a daily occurrence that I'd be rescuing her from a cavern lake or the bottom floor of a Dwarven ruin because she fell off the bridge.
-She always got lost. Always. She would come in and out of my gameplay constantly because she would get lost and disappear for a few days, then show up in the most random places and accompany me again.
-I was quite happy when she got lost permanently

There was this one Khajiit, Kharjo I think his name was. Great guy, but he got fed to a mammoth. Got bored of him, so i used him as cannon fodder.

I'm using Adelaisa Vendicci right now and I have to say, she is completely fantastic. She keeps up with me, she shuts her yap, I'm not babysitting her, and she helps me in battle. These are the only followers I've used, I don't use them that often.

I'll give more reviews of different followers once I adventure with more of them. the reason being me not having a lot on here is because I usually keep my followers for quite a while (minus Kharjo, who I think lasted a total of 10 minutes). Not to mention I'm very picky when choosing them.

Illia: she's a mage, she's got class, and she's on a mission to clean up her life after a stint with the dark side. Not to mention she's a dead-eye with a frost shard out to 100 meters; a considerable boon when one is prone to chronic attacks of draconic bombardment.

So, why the lack of love for Lydia? All of my housecarls just sit in my house and act as a housekeeper eating my pre-placed food, so i never took her out for a spin. Is she just humorous, or stupid? I'm tempted to try her out just to see what she's like.

So, Eola did something particularly sinister last night.

Eola, my Breton Necromancer and Vigilance the dog were spelunking in Chillwind Depths, which at the time I didn't realise was pretty inadvisable at level 12.

After taking out a few spiders and harvesting their pitiful souls to power the Mace of Molag Bal, Eola and I raised the bodies of some dead adventurers we found in the cave. While we were busy, Vigilance barked and raced off down a dark corridor.

After hearing some frantic yelping, Eola and I raced after him, only to find his body floating in a shallow pool, pincushioned with poisoned Falmer arrows! Two glowing ash piles - the only mortal remains of the resurrected adventurers - lay a few yards away. Without a moment's hesitation, Eola resurrected Vigilance before my very eyes!

I'd had that dog since about level 2!

Lydia. Is. The. Best. Case closed.

However, J'zargo is a close second, and I'm also a big fan of Brelyna Maryon.

Wow. If there was anything that could have made me stop disliking your anti-Lydia tendencies, it was that.

Unfortunately, I don't think there are any Civil War followers, which is too bad, because it would have been nice to have Hadvar and/or Ralof as a companion.

I love Illia, Brelyna Maryon, and Aranea Ienith.

Kharjo and J'zargo were pretty awesome, the short times I had them. (Kharjo was killed by a Dwemer Centurion, J'zargo was attacked by a dragon (while I was on a low level . . I panicked, ran into Ansilvund, and when I came out, dead J'zargo. Poor kitties . . . )

My least favorite is every housecarl. ESPECIALLY Lydia.

And I have no love for Iona, or that weakling, what's-his-face from Vlindrel Hall.

Aranea Ienith is pretty hot, after you get rid of the hood.

I'll tell you, THAT was a surprise.

I believe I forgot Eola. Eola was actually pretty useful. Once I gave her some better equipment, she really helped me along the way. Like Annekke though, she would disappear randomly.

I found myself to get Brelyna with me, whenever I think I need a follower. She's one of the few followers who always summon aid for battles, and thus together we make four targets absorbing the enemy fire. It is very useful, even though Brelyna is not that tough warrior by herself.

I'm very late replying to this thread but I thought I would anyway :P.

Favourite follower: Ralis Sedarys. He and my character have been through a lot, so I've become attached to him. I do wish he had more personality though :(.

Least favourite: Derkeethus. I only helped him out because I wanted to sacrifice Boethiah (I dislike Argonians), and it turns out he can't be sacrificed! Fml...

Belrand is pretty awesome. Nice personality, too. :)

Favorite: Onmund, Serana, Vilkas, Aela, Mjoll is the shizzle, Cicero, Meeko (out of cuteness mostly) and now Talvas from Tel Mithryn. Onmund and Vilkas are spouses for a reason.

Least favorite: Brelyna (great mage, but she gets scared and runs off too easily), Dark Brotherhood Initiate (I did not have a good experience with her whatsoever), Barbas because he's damn annoying.

Melee fighters like Lydia can be greatly annoying at times. They constantly get in the way when I fight.

Lydia will rush ahead to take on the draugr death overlord (yeah right as if she actually can) he'll just smash her until I arrive :D

My all time favourite is Aranea. Good summons and she is a ranged fighter so won't get it the way. Her Lighting spells are pretty powerful

And I like the way she addresses me as CHAMPION OF AZURA B-)
